+ Matthias was raised in a small, christian family in the middle of nowhere. It was the ideal family: him, a younger sister, a father, and a mother. Yes, there was a dog as well. He'd lived a boring lifestyle in the suburbs.

+ And then WWI came.

+ Like many others, he had been caught up in the draft, and it terrified him. Matthias never had any military experience, much less seen any weapon beyond books before, so his 'natural' response was to flee. He wasn't alone. Along with many others, he was caught in a 'slacker raid.' He used his wits, trying to worm his way out of the situation, and they offered an alternative solution, to join one of the efforts to end the war.

+ The one he'd joined was simply called "the Organization." There was plenty of black tape surrounding their activities that little of it remains today. They consisted of a group of twenty men and women who focused on awakening the mutant gene, utilizing government and private money in order to fund their research.

+ Matthias might not have been one of the brightest minds out there, but he was very good with time and schedules. Down to last nano second, he was able to make the best use of his time and accurately give the schedule of another's given time to observe them. It was useful for a spy, and it had gathered their interests for their organization.

+ It was one of the Organization's experiments that had 'unlocked' his abilities.

+ It had taken years for him to learn how to control the ability and further more to break free from the underground organization. Even then, he wasn't the one who destroyed it.

+ When the Initiative came to be, he ignored it, imagining it to dissolve once the war was over. Matthias hadn't expected it to last this long nor find his way under their radar. He's lucky they don't consider him a villain, but it's not like he spends his spare time planning world domination or destroying the world(s). He spends his time doing whatever he feels like, whether it's snagging a few extra dollars from someone's wallet or helping a little old lady cross the street. Or picking up some odd jobs to collect cash.

At its base, his ability is 'time manipulation,' but his is specific to two things: himself or others. His inability to age is the only exception.

Senescence is simply a fancy word for 'age manipulation.' It is the ability to adjust the ages of organisms and non-living objects. Most of the time, he uses it on food that have long expired or rotten in order to bring them back to something he could eat. It has worked on someone who has been deceased moments prior, but he has yet to use it on someone who is already six feet under.

This ability takes time to work and plenty of focus. The larger the subject, the more focus and time it takes.

Seeing as it rewinds the subject's time, whatever happened to them prior to when the ability is stopped has never happened. For example, if used on a broken flashdrive that is filled, Matthias could rewind to the point where the flashdrive is completely new and has never been used before if he's not careful. The same could happen to a living subject. In theory, he could also 'stop' an object.

This ability is specific to himself. He's able to slip into another time stream allowing him to appear as though he is stopping, going forward, or rewinding time. It's an ability in which he relies on 'stopping time' rather than going forward or backwards, even then he doesn't go further than one day. The last time he had pushed further than that, he had passed weeks and one time even years.

In short, he knows exactly what time it is without ever checking.

He stopped aging ever since he'd gained the ability to control time. It doesn't mean he can't die. He just can't age.
