Before there was Reverie Bridge, there was Sugarford ferry, which leaves upon the half hour to cross the Mississippi like clockwork. For decades, the ferries have gone back and forth, taking workers, travelers, and tourists from Lafayette to Sugarford and back again. Most passengers are commuters, but some people enjoy the ferry ride, feeding birds and fish as they cross.
