More dragons.
The dragons are magical, alien creatures. They can shapeshift, a learned ability that comes easily for dragons. In their real form, they breathe out fire - classic dragon things. But they can do more. They possess magic to turn metal to gold, freeze water, set things on fire, and so on, which is connected to their emotions. The breathing out fire thing can also be upgraded to a concentrated plasma laser. That's right. Dragons can shoot lazers. Both are abilities Ryou has no control over yet.

Making the dragon a villain would be neat, especially one that might be far more superior than Ryou. We'll be rivals/nemesis! Or you can make a magic-centric dragon who has trouble shapeshifting into a dragon. Again, villain, supero, vigilante, or even civilian, take your pick! |

But really I'm making a dragon villain because dragons are cool. Not really sure what to say, but he's basically the equivalent of The Big Bad Wolf and will most likely try to corrupt poor Ryou, or eat him, because why not. Going down the path of mortal enemies, Luke Skywalker / Darth Vader type shit. Maybe? Yeah. Idk.

I actually had Ryou colored as a black dragon as well but I've only mentioned this once so I can retcon it quickly. Or I can reason out that he's a half-breed, part black dragon and part another, explaining why he has a different set of abilities than Yami. Being part black dragon may be an additional reason for Yami to corrupt Ryou though. Could also mean that Ryou might be capable of black magic if he's actually taught how. There could be a weird nemesis/teacher-student relationship!
Yami is free to eat Ryou too. Because - indeed - why not. Cannibalism let's go. |
