Maria was excited today, he was going to the mall with a friend of his. They were going to look at so many cute clothes and buy dope amounts of stuff. Maria was planning this all week actually, he was so excited. Especially with his beauty he wanted to show off to a few people in the streets so this would be fun for him. Being the extravagant person that he was, he could be rather vain, which he had no problem with.
Holding two coffee cup's that he got from Starbuck's for himself and Apollo, he waited for the nerd to show up outside the cafe.

The Initiative expects culture shock to give Apollo a tough time, but he's fine. He hasn't been on Earth for long yet, but he only ever returned every few hundred years. Adjusting to the times is something he's done over and over.
If anything, this is the most he'd ever liked Earth, barring the ancient wars of love and glory.
Since he arrived, the Initiative dresses him, but it didn't take much pressing for Apollo to get a credit card to start building his own wardrobe. Today, he favors a silk tunic in soft gold, with dark, close-fitted jeans. He aims to avoid standing out, but it can be hard for the god of light to keep a low profile.
He realizes it's even harder to keep a low profile with Maria around.
Apollo has a radiant smile, and this one's only for Maria. "Good tidings," he says, though he knows that's not a greeting anyone uses anymore. "Hast thou wait'd for me ere long?"

And there he was, speaking in his olden English Shakespearean tongue. "It's hello, Apollo," he spoke with a small smile handing him the coffee. "Not very, I arrived a bit too early anyway. Got overly excited," he said with a small fluster on his face, he was really excited for today and it was pretty obvious. This was his first shopping trip with a friend so it was gonna be fun.
"So shall we doneth forward?" he spoke with a chuckle.

"Hello then," he tries, tasting the words. He brightens a little, though it's hard to tell if it's because he enjoys Maria's company or if he just enjoys learning the ways of the modern world. He takes a step closer, kisses Maria on either cheek, and steps away--though not too far away. Apollo also knows that kissing, cheeks or no, is no longer customary in his time and place. He doesn't let that stop him though.
"We shall. Whith--where to?" he asks, correcting himself as he spoke.
He'd passed many stores on his way here, and while he didn't go inside any of them, he could tell just from the outside that they were very expensive, very classy places to buy clothes. Extravagant purchases hardly deterred him though. A funded shopping spree was hardly any different from offerings at his temples. If anything, it was a lesser offering, but it's still one he's happy to accept.

Maria felt the man kiss his cheeks in that moment a small fluster appeared. He graciously accepted giving a small nod to Apollo. Apollo was a dear friend of his so he didn't mind. He was just excited.
"Where to!" he said with a small smile, Apollo corrected himself! This was a joyous occasion, hopefully, Apollo was getting used to modern day English as compared to Old English, it would make an interesting transition. Which, he thought was good for Apollo as nobody really speak's like that anymore, well except for theatricals during plays.
"H&M first!" he spoke leading the way as Apollo was telling him many stories. They passed many stores but didn't go into any. They were smiling and laughing about the stories that Apollo had and Maria even told of his own until he spotted a very pretty store.
"Apollo!" he exclaimed happily looking into the glass window giving a preview as to it's beautiful clothes. "This place look's lovely!"

With ten thousand years of life, Apollo knows how to make conversation, and he knows how to tell a story. For centuries, songs were stories, and stories were songs. He tells Maria tales of Troy, not of its end or of the war, but of noble Hector and beautiful Helen. Even now, he seeks out people that remind him of them.
He has no choice but to trust Maria's choice of stores. He doesn't really know what clothes are stylish and what aren't in this modern day, besides for what he seen. He's watched a few movies, and he leaves the television on when he's home. He knows enough that the frock coats and corsets of centuries ago are niche now.
"I know little of what is lovely in this time," he admits to Maria, a bit sheepishly though sheepish is an odd look on a god. He mostly just looks sunny. "Pray tell me that thou might guide me, for I can see that thou art lovely, but clothes are... more of a challenge."

Maria looked over at Apollo with a bit of awe. "We'll! We will have to fix that right up then!" he got really pumped up now. He was going to dress up Apollo and make him look gucci af.
Maria jumped with excitement grabbing Apollo's hand rushing into the shop as he grabbed a rolling clothing rack. He looked through the isles before wondering what type of clothes Apollo liked to wear or what was most visually appealing.
"Apollo, what garment's do thoust like thy like to don?" he spoke mimicking the way Apollo spoke was a joke. "Here, try these on," he said in his normal way of speaking tossing Apollo a red flannel, blue jacket, hat and skinny jeans.
Now he didn't know about most people, but Maria's fashion sense was on point as fuck.

Maria's energy seems boundless. If Apollo shifts into moving light at some points to keep up (he's not the sort to bounce around--he might just be a superpowered alien, but he still carries himself as a true deity ought to when he can).
He blinks at Maria, the smiles wryly. "Togas," he answers. He doesn't laugh, but it's a joke. They're not going to find togas here. "I believe I yet prefer clothes that drape loosely. I remember the brocade doublets and breeches from when I was here last, but I shan't think they are common anymore."
Apollo doesn't hide his distaste when he adds, "T'was too difficult to merely get dressed in that day. This millenia is far preferable."
He takes the clothes and heads to the dressing room. When he's out he's uncertain--not insecure about his inherent beauty but he's not used to wearing these bright colors or cloth of this texture. "What dost thou think?"

Maria looked at Apollo with a satisfied smile. "Dous't looks good!" he said with a hop in his step. He looked so nice ahhhhhh. "We're getting you this, you look so good ugh." he groaned with a smile. He was very satisfied as you can tell. Take those off, so I can pay for them. "The pretty long garments are over there!" he pointed at a small section of the shop. He was excited, so MANY PRETTY THINGS.

Apollo had taken the time to observe the trends of the day, everything from fashion to art to politics to music (especially music), but his hesitance with the clothes was boyish, like a young man trying something new and not sure if he liked it. The smile he bore too was boyish, because it at least pleased him that Maria was so content.
There were more clothes to try on--and as the afternoon went on, much more clothes--but Apollo was tireless and it seemed like Maria was too. He'd left Maria for a minute at a few points to drop shopping bags off at his apartment. A few hours later, his living room was covered with shopping bags.
He received a call from a very nervous Initiative employee to ask him how much longer he intended to keep shopping. He had half a mind to answer that he'd continue until Maria lost interest, but Apollo took a hint. He invited Maria to dinner, which was also expensive, but after that he concluded that his new wardrobe was complete--until the next shopping expedition, anyway.
