[nospaces] [attr="class","title"] Cookies and Cream [attr="class","text"] Café Rose is a popular date spot filled with pink frills and paired with a famous staff of young beautiful women and men who wear matching uniforms as they glide from table to table serving award winning desserts and drinks at affordable prices. Among their staff is their poster girl Un Soo, better known as Suzie, who also doubles as their head chef in charge of very important orders but sometimes she works the floor just like everyone else. Her boss makes certain to put her out at least once a week in order to attract more customers and she doesn't mind one bit because she's doing what she loves. However, on rainy days like today not many people take the time to stop by whether they see her at the counter or not. [break][break] Suzie was organizing the display case of colorful cupcakes and pies so that each are individually notable besides each other. Her hair was held back by a headband to keep it out of the way as she bent lower to lay out the cookies in perfect order. She occasionally glanced through the display glass towards the door to see if anyone would enter but even through the early morning traffic it was clear today would be a quiet one. Perhaps it would give her the time to properly clean out the kitchen, she could always have her coworkers cover for her should a customer enter. But for now she'll make do with making sure the display was in excellent condition.

Sometimes, skipping school was a thing he did. Okay, complete honesty: Jack skipped school most of the time. But it was for good reason -- the school he went to was host to a bunch of other superpowered freaks, and he didn't want to deal with them. Seriously, sitting next to someone who could melt anything they wanted upon touch was a hell of an experience that he refused to go through every single day of school.
So here he was, lurking around in Sentinel Hill again as he looked for a café he could relax in for the day without getting into too much trouble. With more than enough allowance in his pocket, Jack figured he could have anything he wanted and not worry about tomorrow's lunch money.
Spying a host of delectable pies and baked goods from the display case, Jack lingered outside the shop for a minute or two as he watched the lady work her magic on the display. Were they not open yet?
As soon as Jack caught her gaze, he pointed into the café and mouthed, "Are you guys open?"

[nospaces] [attr="class","title"] Cookies and Cream [attr="class","text"] Suzie had just finished perfecting the singular line of oatmeal raisin cookies, silently wondering why so many people dislike them, when she noticed someone had stopped at the café's door. She stood up, straightening out her uniform as she watched the boy outside point towards her and mouthing something she didn't understand. In response she merely smiled and waved at him in welcome. [break][break] Looking at him, albeit through a rain splattered door, she could tell he was a little young to have any free time at this time in the morning however she wasn't about to turn down any customers. Whether this kid is skipping school or out on a sick day doesn't matter, so long as Suzie has something to do and is helping someone it's a good day nonetheless.

A wave in return was just as good an answer for him. Jack pushed the door open and invited himself into the empty café. Without waiting for the lady, he took a window seat that looked out onto the quiet streets.
It was a stark contrast from what he was used to; he had expected a bustling city and a packed café, but it was evident that today was an exception. Perhaps it was still too early, or it was one of those peaceful rainy days where nothing really happened.
Just to make sure he hadn't just jinxed himself (and the café), Jack looked out of the window. No fights, no missiles flying around. So far, so good.
He shrugged his book-bag off his shoulders, and flipped through the menu.

[nospaces] [attr="class","title"] Cookies and Cream [attr="class","text"] The boy entered and made way for the tables near the window, making himself comfortable before digging into the menu. Suzie had to distract herself from going straight to taking the boy's order by fixing up the final touches to the cookie section: frills, frills and more frills. Sure quiet days - or at least mornings - provide a good breather but she has a hard time fighting the itch to help people. It's not like she's even helping with much besides a basic human need, although it is one of the more important needs... [break][break] On that note, Suzie had finished fixing up the display case for the morning and straightened herself up before making her way towards the boy sitting by the window. "Good morning," She greeted as she stood beside the table at a polite distance, "If you're ready I'm here to take your order, but also to let you know our specials for today; The mini cheesecakes are sixty percent off, cookies are five for a dozen and lattes are two dollars for any size."

"Oh," said Jack, looking up when she approached him. He scratched the back of his neck almost awkwardly as he turned his gaze back to the menu. Er, the specials, right?
He traced a finger across the page where it said Cheesecakes. The mini cheesecakes were apparently delightful concoctions of fluffiness, and he figured he could use some of that.
"Yeah, uh," he said, drawing circles in the air with the same finger from before, "I'll have whatever you recommend? I mean, I can't really decide and I trust your judgement on this." He grinned.
