lOG #5: humans have the worst grass. it tastes too acidic for my liking. im going to have to find another food source... | ▶ | |
(enos) said: Hareli-Lirem-Sirinial knew that the best tasting grass he had found in this miserable was in this park place. Unfortunately though the humans seemed to flock to this area as well. Despite the fact that they didn't seem to eat the grass that they trampled all over he could see why. It was a decently open space. Vastly different from the tiny domiciles that they squeezed their entire families into. He had no idea how they stood it but the last thing he wanted was to be trapped inside one as well.
The furry beast that had found him among the wreckage served as an adequate form for the time being. Four legs and decent hearing meant that he wasn't completely helpless. Though the furbeast seemed to lack a tail blade it made up for it with tiny retractable ones on its paws. The only thing Hareli-Lirem-Sirinial could do without was its desire for flesh. So long as he ate before transforming it wasn't too bad but the predatory instincts sometimes overwhelmed his own. It made him, uncomfortable to say the least. Look, he wasn't supposed to be here in Dunwich. There was a reason this place was for the super rich and the rich -- both terms that were rarely applied to those who had the taint of Arkham. It was stifling just to breathe rich air, but ... the park was clean. It was also inviting, and nice, and everything that the tiny grass lawn he had at home wasn't.
Jack sat upon the grassy lawn, and stared out at clean, correct Dunwich. It was different. The people living here seemed happier, almost as if money itself could buy happiness. It certainly seemed that way.
He sighed, and flopped over onto the well-kept grass. Something brightly-orange and looking like a cat came into view; which was odd, because not many cats frequented the area due to the number of dogs in the park.
Sitting bolt upright now, Jack turned to look at the cat.
"Do you want something to snack on?" Look, what did cats eat? Why was he even talking to a cat? He had an urge to chase it down, but Jack stopped himself from doing so. He'd survived a cat fairy; he could handle a real cat.

(enos) said: "Yaolin..." The andalite curse ran through his mind as he realized that he had been noticed by one of the humans. At least, he assumed it was a human. This place was strange in the types of humans that it held. If he was in his true form he would try and see if the smell was different than the average human. He couldn't be too careful after all. There were plenty of 'bad' humans that seemed to be roaming around.
From the strange hole that the humans called a mouth he heard the word snack. It was a strange human word for light food but, he didn't particularly care for most of the things that they ate. Especially not the things that this furbeast liked. It was a predator and his own likes tended towards the vegetation of the planet. But he did come here to see if he could find some sort of food though...
Cautiously stepping closer he let out an awkwardly sounding meow. Haleni could take or leave having a mouth and letting it make the strange sounds that seemed to come from it. The furbeast wasn't very varied in its tones though and had a limited language skills. If it was up to him he would continue to use his thoughtspeak instead. But using that with a human always had its risks. [googlefont=VT323][googlefont=quicksand; sans-serif]

Oh dear god. Had this cat been through some vocal cord surgery so it wouldn't yowl? Jack squinted at the cat; who knew what rich people did to their pets so they always looked presentable. He extended a shaking hand, then withdrew it. Maybe it was feral. He'd better appease it with the snack he'd mentioned earlier.
From his book-bag, Jack retrieved a pack of lemon cream crackers, opened it, and took one out for the cat.
"Here," said Jack, "It's lemon cream. I don't know if you like it, but ..."

(enos) said: By the bush... This human was attempting to pet him. Not that he could really blame it. This furbeast form was apparently quite pleasing and the creature he had taken it from seemed to live rather well. Its owners were none the wiser either that there was an exact replica of their 'pet'. How the furbeasts hadn't taken over was a mystery to him. After all, they were one up with just the retractable claws. Not to mention their much sharper teeth.
Sniffing slowly he inched towards him. The offering of food was tempting, especially when it wasn't something that the furbeast wanted to hunt down. His vegetarian lifestyle wasn't compatible with most of the creatures on this planet. Not wanting to be fed out of hand he attempted to bat the disc out of the human's hand. He wasn't some pet to be hand fed after all. And he would rather eat it off of the ground. [googlefont=VT323][googlefont=quicksand; sans-serif]

Jack pulled his hand back when the stray batted at his hand. Look, he was here to feed a stray, and this happens? Was this what all Dunwich strays did, turn their nose up at food because it wasn’t organic or vegan enough for them? He looked at the orange cat and tried to decide if it was worth giving it the benefit of the doubt.
All the same, he tossed the snack down onto the grass and watched for a response. The cracker landed with a soft fwoop near where he was sitting.

(enos) said: With the cracker now on the ground and not in the human's hand he crept towards it. Sniffing some at it he began to bite and crunch on it. This furbeast's teeth weren't made for eating things like this but it was much better than the flesh that it insisted on trying to make him eat. His desire to stay away from flesh consumption was always at war with this furbeast's. It wasn't nearly enough though. Even as this creature he had a greater appetite than could be sated by a single cracker. At this rate he would end up having to graze... [googlefont=VT323][googlefont=quicksand; sans-serif]

Jack watched the cat with equal parts curiosity and idleness. The cracker was gone in a matter of seconds; the cat had deftly snapped it up with its teeth and seemed to be enjoying the cracker. Jack wondered if he ought to feed it some more; did it really like lemon cream, or was it just hungry enough to not care?
"Did you like that?" he said, setting down another piece of cracker on the grass. A lady with her kid shot him a look of disapproval for feeding a stray of all things, but Jack ignored her stare. "I mean, it's not like you can talk back or anything, I guess."
He shrugged at the stray cat.
