[break][break] The boy disregarded the dark red liquid flowing down the side of his head. Instead, he was... much more concerned with figuring out where he was. Or, perhaps, what happened to him. Walls were on either side of him. There were passing car lights in a single direction, but aside from that, he was someplace almost pitch black. Darkness... it didn't help the small blotches starting to cloud his vision. [break][break] Neither did registering his surroundings, apparently, because the pain from his head came in beats. A heartbeat? Each time was a mini explosion of pain. He didn't like it. What could he do to make it stop? No, wait, he still needed to figure out... what happened. Why was he laying on the ground? But it hurt to think; he couldn't ignore the pain anymore. [break][break] Maybe sleeping would help... [break][break] . . . [break][break] They found him at daybreak, knocked out within an alleyway. [break][break] So, they picked him up, cleaned him up, dragged him to their base. [break][break] Others may have called them hooligans, but they still owned some semblance of a heart. [break][break] . . . [break][break] He was twelve, he told him, cradling his aching head all the while. His name... Ethan. His name was Ethan Foy, and he couldn't remember anything else. The group of five he was speaking to, three girls and two boys, almost laughed at him, thinking it was a joke... Until they noticed droplets of liquid threatening to fall from the preteen's eyes. [break][break] They argued with one another, contemplating on letting Ethan join. It wasn't until one of the girls tried mocking his loss of memory, leading him to sock her, that he was allowed into their group. (He was warned that he couldn't cry like a bitch just because he was youngest.) [break][break] . . . [break][break] It wasn't until weeks later he realized that his "family," they were not true hooligans. They were kids who were lost, confused, trying to find solace in the company of one another. There was only the occasional brawl, meant to protect innocent people from gang attacks... [break][break] . . . [break][break] Something wasn't right. [break][break] It was after his fifteenth birthday that he finally began beating his friends in races, arm wrestling, and fist fights. In showdowns with other groups, he came out almost unscathed, wiping the floor with his opponents. Sure, he knew that with his daily activities he'd become formidable. But this was ridiculous. [break][break] And if he did get hurt, or angry, he'd only grow... stronger. (They nicknamed him "Xeno" because of his strength. He was different.) [break][break] His memory also began acting up... he could recall faces he'd never seen before, voices he'd never heard before. It was confusing. He didn't want anything to do with his power, his memories... he just wanted to be with his family. [break][break] . . . [break][break] Two years later and they screwed up. [break][break] His brothers, his sisters, his family was sent on a course meant for jail. [break][break] He was left on the run, fighting off jerkwads in their memory. From increased speed and strength, to unnatural reflexes, stamina, and durability. However, he has yet to reach the peak of this power considering his age and experience. [attr="class","subcat"]Damage Empowerment What can truly make him a formidable opponent is the notion of "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger." The more physical damage he sustains over time, the stronger Xeno becomes. At maximum, Xeno can reach superhuman levels of strength, speed, etc. Thankfully, he has yet to accomplish such a state and wouldn't wish to know what kind of harm he must endure to do so. (His power boost lasts until he is healed. And of course, he is unable to use said boost if he is unconscious or... dead as a result of his injuries.) [attr="class","subcat"]Anger Empowerment (Minor) On a much smaller scale compared to his last power, Xeno is able to become stronger through his anger. He will at most see himself moving somewhat faster than usual, or lasting somewhat longer than usual, but enough for both him and his opponent to notice. [attr="class","subcat"]Basic Hand-to-Hand Combat After five years of witnessing and participating in streets brawls, Xeno has grasped what seems to be the basics of close combat. Although his form/attacks are still a bit sloppy, he is more than willing to show off what he has learned. |
