RENOWN REQUEST Character: The Devil's Advocate Budget: I've probably got enough Plan: Morricone's powers are a bit rickety for my tastes - I cleaned them up and cleared up the rubble a little. His (official or not) power level shouldn't change much, all in all, it's just clarifications and a bit of a better explanation as of how he DOES things. Also, taking away most of the excessive JoJo edge and replacing it with STEEZ. |
In the spoiler is the actual new power list:
- The Craft : Morricone’s magic works with a mix of Solomonic and Hermetic magics, intertwined with “gutter magic”, mundane-made-awesome type applications. Traditional methods and tools include: Knives, Wands/Staves, Sextants, Cups, Herbs, Coins, Mirrors, Magic Circles/Pentacles/Glyphs/Sigils, Tarot, Precious Stones, Silver, Gold, Iron, and Hickory, Potions, Rings, Swords and more traditional methods. More modern additions include: Coffee French Press & Percolator & Cappuccino, Guns, Cars, Computers, Tea Kettle & Samovar, VHS, Radios, Poker, Dice, Dominos, Gambling, Sunglasses, Cigarettes, Paper Contracts, Cooking, and other modern low-fi commodities.
- Moon River : if Morricone can work old gods into submission, he can’t do that when he’s pressed for time. For quick and dirty encounters, Morricone needs to throw a punch fast - and that’s where Moon River, his imposed will, his strengthened psyche, comes forth as a tool to punch, hold, and channel spells for Morri. It’s got 20/20 vision, it’s got super speed, strength, endurance, reflexes, and stamina, and it’s badass. This can lead to some creative magic usage, but mostly, it’s psychic/ghostly/metaphysical implementations. Moon River itself is a psychic creation, and as such, unless Morricone decides to make it so for everybody, it’s only visible by psychic or brain-enhanced people.
- Witch Brewing : Morri can set up spells in potions or liquids in the form of coffee, tea, or other brews of any kind. Mixing the magical ingredients with the energizing drinks, he can make good tasting potions. It helps that most of his equipment is marked with magic circles and other symbols of power, in which small spirits work their magic to make the brew taste good. Morricone can also work on some items - like knives, cutlery, or bullets - with that method, which means actually dropping the item into a pot and cooking it. Which can make for weird smells and smoke.
- Summonings : Morricone works along with Demons, Ghosts, Angels, Fae, and other Spirits that come from a very specific universe - the Hunting Grounds, a certain kind of antiquated urban decay hell, where fire and brimstone, styx rivers, and old prisons mix with sooth, rust, and 1920’s to modern architecture, going from bayous and high class hotels to factories and corrupt corporate business towers. It’s the universe’s backyard, the entry point or corridor for plenty of supernatural or lovecraftian beings into our world. He uses contracts, magic circles, some elements of Gutter Magic (like putting the magic circle on a video-tape, which makes the demon appear inside of the TV screen, an additional protection barrier), and pure imposed will to keep them under control. Usually, he chains them to a particular purpose and action until conditions are met - and he keeps a portfolio of the friendlier ones he managed to meet. The beings he summons are usually eager to work for him, because their original dimension lacks… metaphysical things compared to our own, and being able to experience them are a great privilege (and highly sought-after drug) for the Folk who inhabit it. Also, it’s a universe where dogs eat other dogs, so being called into a world where you’re the captain now is cool once in a while.
- The Little Folk : Morricone works his magic with the help of small beings that he calls forth. Since he usually roots for the little man and the underdog, he finds himself working very well with the Little Folk - diminutive fairies, demons, and spirits - who agree with him, and who, in some cases, share a friendship with him. A lot of the little guys are able to manifest around in the real world by themselves (mostly in places of urban decay, or some similarly symbolic area), but are chained there - or some manifest around certain emotions (usually bad and crazy ones), and can feed on them to become bigger, and that’s when shit hits the fan.
- The Big Folk : These guys are the overdogs of their realms. They’re usually too busy doing… Whatever it is they’re doing, to be bothered with helping out in the human world - if they don’t openly despise the humans. But some of them are part of age-old contracts with the Morricone Family line, and can be summoned in times of aid. Of course, a good relation between business partners is key: Morricone himself has managed to befriend a handful of heavy hitters, and the price to pay for their visit isn’t steep more than personal (i.e. “share a bottle of whiskey with me”, “don’t call me in the next 3 days”, “tell me I’m pretty”, etc). Most of them can’t be bothered with leeching emotional bullshit from sad or insane people - they just go straight to creating cults under their powers, and use the worshippers’ souls as anchor points in the real world. Beware the Big Folk who manage to actually MANIFEST there - they’re heavy hitters.
