Annette and Eugène Cloutier were two very busy people, she was a model turned executive for an influential fashion agency and he was a renowned travelling nature photographer. But amidst their bustling lives the couple inevitably bore a child, a beautiful, healthy, seemingly normal baby boy.

Morgan’s parents careers required that they constantly move around, moving at least three times a year. The constant moving made it hard for him to make friends and the children he did meet would actively avoid him, they'd complain about feeling cold around him and he was often picked on and called 'creepy'.

His parents were too involved in their careers to notice the strange things happening to their son that his teachers and nannies complained about such as constant feeling of cold. Annette assumed that it was commoner's gossip and ignored them. She would often thrust many different kinds of studies upon Morgan, wanting him to become a proper and educated young man.

Reaching adolescence Morgan’s powers began to manifest and he actively experimented with them, though keeping them a secret from everyone else. By puberty his powers had developed extensively, he went from creating small flurries of snow and giving off a chill to forming solid icicles and freezing things at the touch of a finger.

At the age of fourteen, shortly after he had moved to Paris, Morgan had engaged in a secret sexual relationship with one of his mother’s clients, a twenty-two year old woman named Amelie. Amelie would sneak into Morgan’s room and the two would smoke cigarettes and drink wine, but when his nannies began to suspect the two would rendezvous at hotels. Morgan felt something from Amelie that he had craved for years, companionship. He felt so safe with Amelie that she became the first person he revealed his powers to.

The two's affair would go on for two years, the longest Morgan had ever stayed in one place. Amelie would often see other men, and when they rejected her she would call Morgan and use him for comfort. His mother grew suspicious, and it wasn't too long after her snooping that she had found the two out. Annette told Amelie if she didn't want her reputation tarnished she'd leave Paris and never speak to her son again.

During the confrontation Morgan finally spoke out to his mother about her neglect and how she only threatened Amelie into silence because she was worried about her own image. Morgan’s rage fueled his powers and he nearly lost control, hurting his mother. Afterwards Morgan became even more distant towards her.

After his powers were revealed to his mother Annette had no idea what to with him. It became increasingly obvious that Morgan didn’t have much control over his powers and they were easily influenced by his moods. Morgan’s teenage years were filled with parties and beautiful girls to distract him from the loss of Amelie and his parents absence. He’d wave around the generous allowance his parents would give him and he soon became very popular among his peers.

However, Morgan had gotten into a brawl with another boy and he accidentally revealed his powers to his peers, and gave the boy a bad case of frostbite. It wasn’t long before word got out that the Cloutier boy was a mutant, a freak.. Annette was shamed for letting someone so dangerous walk around freely.

It didn’t take long for the Initiative to find and contact the Cloutier family. Annette didn’t want her son be treated like a lab rat, or a weapon but Morgan decided to join on his own accord, enticed with the promise that he’d learn to control his powers. At the age of 18 Morgan left home for the Initiative compound in Kingsport as an official member of the Initiative.

Morgan was born with the power of cryokinesis which allows him to create, shape, and manipulate ice. By manipulating the kinetic energy of water atoms in the air around him he can conjure various forms of snow and ice, from a simple snowball to an intimidating glacier. Morgan's ice can be as cold and hard as the polar ice caps, making it extremely hard to melt or break through.

Using the moisture in the air Morgan can also create constructs out of ice such as weapons (Sword, lance, ect.) and he can even form ice over his body to use as protective armor.

His powers depend on there being moisture in the air. If there is little to no moisture in the air his powers become inert and unusable.




There's always a cold, chilly air about him. Even in the middle of a blazing, muggy summer the vicinity of Morgan's body will remain stubbornly cold. This is due to Morgan lowering the kinetic energy in the air around him and even his own body. Usually the air around him can be between 10 to 20 degrees colder than the actual temperature.

Though for the most part Morgan's cold air is harmless he can in fact reach dangerously low temperatures at will. He can freeze things with the touch of his finger tips at temperatures reaching below freezing.

Because of Morgan's lack of complete control over his powers he can't help but give off a cold front. Although he can lower the temperature by will his powers are easily influenced by his emotions. It has been observed that his cold becomes more intense when he is filled with feelings of stress, anger, or fear. This poses an obvious risk to lifeforms around him, with the possibility of him losing control over his powers he could cause harm such as frostbite and hypothermia.





Thanks to his cold manipulation, Morgan has a natural immunity to the cold. He can withstand below freezing temperatures without any fear of frostbite or hypothermia.
