[break][break] Aegis is a weapon. You point a gun at your enemy and fire. You don't ask how it feels about that because it can't feel anything about that. Aegis does not enjoy his missions, but neither does he dislike them. He is them, and then he is the long, cold dark, and then he is the mission again. [break][break] Ezra Mazur was someone else. [break][break] He was selfish and arrogant, blindingly wrapped up in himself. He was capable of bravery, those small, quiet feats of bravery which make up the every day goodness of the world. He was in love. He was quieter than he acted. He wore flirtation and charm like a mask, like a tool of assessment. [break][break] Later, he was only tired. He was too weak for the war. It ground him into fine dust until he no longer knew if he was whole or hollow, and then Spectre found what was left, and then none of it mattered, in the end. Nothing of Ezra Mazur's life was lasting. [break][break] Once he would have chosen to be a good man and not the perfect soldier. Now choice is beyond him. [attr="class","subcat"]biographical details Aegis has murdered presidents, kings, dictators, and democratic revolutionaries alike with no particular prejudice or difficulty. He has killed some of the finest minds of the 20th and 21st century and made it look like an accident when his orders called for it. Other times he made it clear exactly what had happened. He is a living history of violence, and he is one of the best at what he does. [break][break] Ezra Mazur was the son of two Jewish immigrants from Poland. He was orphaned young and drafted into the military. He was an average soldier, but had a good head for leadership, and might have even risen through the ranks until he went missing, presumed KIA, and was found by Spectre. [break][break] Spectre used him for their experiments until he broke, and then they used him some more. It's a very simple story. Resulted in enhanced strength, speed, and durability. Also comes with a healing factor. The good news is broken ribs will heal in about two weeks instead of six. The bad news is that you're a living weapon who will immediately be put back in the field, and they don't give you get-well popsicles. [attr="class","subcat"]decelerated aging Turns out power-crazy cult fanatics who want to dictate the course of the world are also interested in living forever. Aegis was experimented on in hopes of discovering the secret to immortality. They failed, but did succeed in putting death off somewhat; even outside of cryogenic storage he ages at a rate of one year for every decade that goes by. [attr="class","subcat"]cybernetic arm Short story: capped and socketed at the shoulder. Enhanced strength with some built-in weapons capability. Works through sci-fi bullshit including but not limited to: synthetic muscles, metal and metal-capped bones, bodily integration through neural implants, two heat sinks, counter-weights across the right side of his body and help from the experimental serum all work together to keep him functioning and dangerous. [attr="class","subcat"]martial training First in the military and then later with Spectre. Hand-to-hand combat mastery goes excellently with a brainwashed repression of personhood and the inability to differentiate between right and wrong. Adept with pretty much any gun you give to him. Great with knives and also, weirdly, a scythe. Stealth and infiltration mastery when necessary, but he can also be used for shock-and-awe tactics. Trained to ignore damage outside of how it affects him in carrying out mission parameters. |
