We'll get to this in a sec but since she walks the Earth again, she is overcome by boredom and spends her days trying to get even a second of laughter at the expense of others, especially her caretaker. On the other hand, push her buttons and you'll get burned, literally. When triggered, Cornelia will be hot-headed and explosive. Don't count on her for tactical or sneaking assignments, she will dive headfirst into combat, regardless of the strength or size of the other side. She's like a rocket, you point something and say "go" and she'll charge. Having already experienced an extremely agonizing death, she has no fear of pain and even revels in the thrill of battle because it gives her a small spark of excitement in her otherwise monotonous life. Cornelia is also extremely aquaphobic; she cannot stand a single drop of liquid touching her. When it's raining, you just won't find her unless you look in the deepest, darkest recesses of wherever she was last seen. Her mood will actually get better the hotter it gets. In her alone time, she loves to read comic books. [attr="class","subcat"]biographical details Cornelia's life started in 17th century Colonial New England. She saw light for the first time in Ipswich, Massachusetts, in spring of 1633. She spent her entire life in this town, until her death by execution in 1653. During her twentieth summer, she was accused of Witchcraft and diabolical pacts to gain powers over the mind and bodies of people. Whether she was truly a Witch or not is unknown, she was proven guilty and sentenced to burn at the stakes. While the flames were licking her flesh, she cursed the names of the people that testified against her and the clergymen who sentenced her to this terrible fate. [break][break] We do not know and she will not disclose which is the case but, either through her pact with a supernatural entity or through her fierce hatred of the people who convicted her, she remained anchored to this mortal realm and took possession of the flames that had destroyed her body and ended her life to become a vengeful entity of fire. At first she thought she could still feel every single little burn on her body and came to the conclusion she was punished to relive her execution over and over until the end of times but soon figured out that, without a corporeal body, you don't have the necessary glands and organs to have any kind of physical feeling. Only your mind stays human and gives you those impressions and as soon as she realized it, there came another realization : I am Fire. I am Death. [break][break] Her visible from was nothing but a small flame, a spark, like what you would get from lighting a match, that would hover a couple of feet from the ground and move around at walking pace. People would call it a Swamp Light, Ignis Fatuus, Jack-o'-lantern or a Will-o-Wisp. Since you don't really get a GPS navigation device when you become a ghost, it took her some time to find the houses of people who had convicted her, but when she did, she would knock down a lantern, throw herself on thatch or any other flammable material to cause a fire that would be uncontrollable and would ultimately destroy the house. Over the course of many years, she torched down multiple houses, and once all the people who had testified against her had had their houses (or in some cases, their bodies) burned, she turned to the Clergy. Those who had judged her without knowing her, denied her explanations, called her by hateful names and set fire to her living flesh. She tried to burn down churches but never succeeded and turned to the clergymen's private quarters. Through the years, she drew a canvas of domestic fires over most of New England and with time, forgot her initial reason for starting those fires in the first place. [break][break] Cornelia started to wander around aimlessly around the 1800s. After a century in a half of phantom life, she didn't remember her reason to be or what anchored her to this carnal world and eventually started to think she was simply a spirit of Fire, an elemental manifestation of the power of destruction of nature. And so, with this new role embedded in her soul, she simply manifested herself where there were dangerous fire hazards to show humans that Nature was unforgiving and Stupidity was a genetic flaw. Most oil fires, forest fires, house fires and crop fires throughout New England were her doing. She was no longer burning down things from hatred or vengeance but out of boredom. No one could interact with her, see or hear her. Her new life was to wander and destroy, in hopes of some excitement. [break][break] She made her way to Kingsport recently and her first target was the church. A big monument of wood and stone that would make an amazing first impression of her presence in this town. However the holy place turned out to be more of a challenge that she thought. The sisters proved worthy opponents and thwarted her every attempts. One night though, a mysterious man appeared and did... something. Something strange that reached through her, grabbed her heart and pulled it through her throat. When the unpleasant feeling subsided, she was no longer flame, heat and immaterial but wore flesh once again. What have you done to me, Morricone?! [break][break] [PTab=IV.] [attr="class","appcat"]powers [attr="class","apptext"] [/PTab={tab-background-color:#1f4654;height: 420px; background-color: #1c1d1e; padding: 5px;text-align:justify;][/PTabbedContent={width: 310px;tab-background-color:#1c1d1e;border-color:#1c1d1e;tabgap:1}][newclass=.appcat]background-color:#111;text-align:center;font-family:open sans condensed;text-transform:uppercase;font-weight:900;letter-spacing:1px;[/newclass][newclass=.apptext]height:390px; margin: 15px 5px 0px 5px; padding: 0px 15px; overflow: auto;[/newclass][newclass=.subcat]color:#e5e5e5;font-family: open sans condensed; margin: 15px 0px 5px -10px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass][newclass=.subcat1]color:#e5e5e5;text-transform:uppercase;font-family: open sans condensed; margin: 0px 0px 5px -10px;[/newclass][attr="class","subcat1"]Elemental Physiology Being made of eternal fire and magical flesh, Cornelia doesn't have the needs of humans. She doesn't really need sleep, will need to eat combustible materials once every hour but has no need for liquids. She doesn't feel pain and can actually reform her body, regardless of what kind of damage she took, as long as the environment as the right conditions to keep a flame alive. She will only feel pain in presence of nonflammable liquids, intense cold or lack of flammable gazes. [attr="class","subcat"]Hand-To-Hand Cornelia has basic knowledge of hand-to-hand combat. She will punch and kick with over-average human strength... and that's about it for now. [attr="class","subcat"]Action Bomb That's where things get real. You see, her skin is what binds her to a human form. Inside that skin, she doesn't have blood, bones or organs, she is pure flame under pressure. When enough damage is made to her corporeal envelope, it will act like a balloon that has been poked with a needle and... well... explode. A violent fiery conflagration caused by the unleashing of her elemental form bursting out of the binding spell. After the explosion, she will assume her true form for a short time while the spell regenerates itself and imprisons the fire once again. [attr="class","subcat"]Pyromancy For now, only possible when unleashed. Cornelia's elemental appearance is that of a big mass of fire shaped like a woman. When released from the binding spell, she has complete control of all parts of that mass and all flames created by her. Directing them, shaping them, molding them into swords, arrows, shields, you name it. She is especially vulnerable to water while in this form. In essence, for the couple of minutes before the seal reforms itself, she's a glass canon. Incredibly powerful, but also at her weakest defensive-wise. |
