This had never been the way, never was their plan. Roam the cosmos, gain insight on the living species and co-inhabit their world. Hosts carefully chosen, those that had perished, those that were close to death. Taking life was forbidden, taking over a mind that would never remember its original design was but a claim their counsel had never wished. To do so was to wage war upon another race; and that had never been the goal. They were a simple, gentle race, one that dwelt on the symbiosis of learning and furthering their knowledge, experiencing endless lives, one after the other. [break][break] Yet, the human mind was place few of their kind had dared to venture. It was full of memories, of emotions that were not normally experienced. Throughout the endless cascade of lifetimes, never before had they/he felt hate, love, sorrow, obsession, fear as they did in the bodies of man. It could drive most mad, this sudden influx, this sudden look on a world. It rattled them/him, creating a new identity from two, combining them together. Slowly, they became him, until no longer did the alien exist, nor did the human exist. There had been no warning, only a strange, and slow progressive evolution. [break][break] Hate was the strongest, followed by fear. They dominated the fragmented memories, and with it, shaped the entirety of his disposition. He seen the world as a vile, and sick place, filled with disease and sickness and crime. He judged without truly understanding, truly seeing the world with his own two eyes. How easy it was for him to hate, for him to gaze upon another and find ever little fault. It was easy to use those powers he had held for so long, shaped by the power of this complex mind; only... all for the wrong reasons. He wanted to destroy this world, destroy their progress, if only to make them see what they were doing to each other, to their world. Perhaps it was a fools dream, a naive thought that should the foundations crack, the rot of the soil beneath would be revealed. [break][break] Emotion ruled him, shaping each encounter with ease, shaping each opinion. He reacted so violently to the first impression that at times he could flip from the good natured stranger to a cold and calculating hunter. He could cry so suddenly, could grow attached so easily; a child who had yet to truly learn how to understand their own feelings and react appropriately as per what was expected of society. [break][break] *Personality is still in development; will advance and change via ic progression [attr="class","subcat"]biographical details We came from the stars, from beyond this system, far into the reaches of space. A simple race ourselves, the survival of each depended upon a bond struck, living together side by side with another race. At first, it had been the great beasts of our planets oceans, large roving serpents so much like the snakes of earth. Long, near fifty feet, I could remember those thoughts, slow and instinctual, driving me to eat and breed, creating the next generation. So many species were like that, majority of life in space derived of simple organisms. I had been a bird, a predator, a prey, even a plant once or twice. Life was simple; rare was it to encounter anything that held true intelligence. [break][break] We travelled the cosmos, learning of the species that somehow managed to survive. Each planet, I would live their lives, learning what it took to survive in these endless hues of landscapes. I don't know how long it had been; our kind could, often did live for eons. From one species to the next, one planet to the next, sleeping in between. It was strange, those times when I was put into stasis. Drifting in the darkness, it was like sleeping hundreds of feet beneath the water, sluggish and heavy. [break][break] Life was precious, and it was against all of our ways to snuff out the individuality of these creatures we encountered. Seeking out the weak, the dying, we merely took over what would have been lost anyways, healing the damage, the bond rewriting the genetic code of the host we would share. You see, we were a fragile species, little more than a spider on the planet Earth; a plethora of limbs that bound us to every facet of the body we claimed. We understood how fragile that balance was. [break][break] Mankind was different though. It was such a young species, such an intelligent species. How much it FELT, the emotions beating against my thoughts, consuming everything else. I had never felt anything like it, how powerful they were, how easily they controlled everything I did. The human that had once owned this body was dead, killed in an accident, its brain rotting away, surviving only by a heart that was forced to keep beating. Yet, though he was dead, it was if he was still there. The memories surfaced not long after, the rage he felt, the pain, the abuse. His own father hurting him, his poor mother defenceless against his confusing aggression. How strongly I hated this man I had never met. [break][break] The emotions continued to hold sway over my actions, my opinions. The abilities our kind had always had over matter lashing out with each influx of hate that filled my blood. Weak in body, though so powerfully linked to the world. I found myself relishing in the power I had over others, I felt... like I was getting back at them for something; for what, I did not know. Roary Bishop became me, and all his hate for the world, became my own. Taking in the history of this world, I became clear just how bloody its past was, how much carnage and war they wrought, and for what; a petty disagreement, greed, fear? I should feel shame for the damage I had caused, the injuries and deaths... but I couldn't. When bound to the neural connective tissue of its host, the parasite can tamper with the genetic markers that limit regenerative abilities of the cells in the body, temporarily removing codons in the genetic sequence that prevent repair from occurring. This allows for extensive damage to repair, such as broken bones, severed neural tissue, intense bleeding and disfigurements over a limited amount of time. The limitation of this ability is that the damage cannot be the type of issue that can kill immediately, such as decapitation or irreversible destruction of major organs in the body. Should the host body acquire irreparable damage; as long as the alien form is untouched, it is possible to be transplanted into another form, thus, continuing its life cycle. He however cannot regenerate his own physical form. [break][break] [attr="class","subcat1"]Matter Manipulation With the exception of synthetic and living tissue, Bane possesses an ability to manipulate natural matter around him. This occurs through mental stimulation, and requires direct contact to that which he desires to shape. This can include manipulation of metal, ore and organic matter such as trees and water. Essentially, he interferes with chemical bonds of the material, forcing it to bend or move to his will. He can move matter in many different means, such as accelerating movement between particles, thus heating up rock and metal; moving water and changing its structure between gas, liquid and solid. For the most part, this power is linked to his emotional state, where increased distress or unbalance in his psyche resulting in his link to the natural world to lash out and create devastating destruction in his immediate vicinity. [break][break] His greatest connection is to that of the material of the planet, given its tangibility as compared to the more fluid nature of water and air. His success depends mainly upon the means in which he makes contact with his abilities; with greater emotional drive, his summons are often chaotic and powerful in means, but far less complex. this could take form in large jutting stone slabs ripping out from underfoot, to earthquake type movements in the crust underfoot. When compelling the manipulation with a calm mind, he can accomplish more complex commands, though they are not nearly as impressive in sheer force. He can stop bullets in their path, change the shape of objects he's in contact with (bending metal beams), move large objects, and if given enough time, even deconstruct an object to its fundamental components. [break][break] [attr="class","subcat1"]Atomic Transmutation An ability that is only relevant to his own body, Transmutation is a more complex form of his matter manipulation, in which he can manipulation that properties of atoms in his own body to change them from one element to another. In this way, he can change the appearance of his host form, or change its properties entirely, such as hardening his flesh or growing claws from his fingers. Due to the nature of the ability, he can only do this with his own host. He can however draw on breaking down atoms in objects he has direct contact with, allowing for him to channel the energy into his own transmutations. |
