Evelyn felt a tad nervous as he laced his fingers with hers, but after it was done it did make her feel warm and fuzzy. She didn't experience moments like these often, they were things she was slowly adjusting to, but it was nice. "Oh god," She flustered as he admitted that he would in fact have fun at her expense, Evelyn briefly covered her smile with her free hand until they began to walk through the groups of hipsters with their coffee. "If you say so."
If the hipster cafe was out of her element, this was out of her dimension. Evelyn had taken piano lessons when she was younger, but that didn't require her to stand in front of so many people to attempt to move her body around to music. She had gone to a couple of dances in high school, a few parties in college, but only when dragged and in no occasion did she dance. She was a wallflower, and she'd never minded it, but now she wished that she had some super power at least. Something that would make her miraculously good at whatever it is they were going to be dancing.
Trying not to look at the others in the room so much, as it was making her even more uneasy, Evelyn looked up at her date as he turned to her, smile slowly growing at his whispered words. "This is ridiculous." She breathed in a quiet tone herself, placing a hand on his shoulder, smoothing it gently upward until it was comfortably behind his neck. It was a good thing she still chose to wear heels, or she swore the height difference would have been embarrassing even more so on her behalf.
His reassurance somewhat comforting, she nodded and kept his eyes held in hers, and as they began the others in the room became less and less apparent. While she still felt her movements were more rigid than his, she did her best to follow. Every so often she couldn't help but revert her eyes, smiling shyly. Evelyn chuckled at his remark about her heels, considering she'd felt the opposite about them. "I think this would be more difficult without them." She admitted, but her luck had to dip in that very moment, and she wavered, and felt herself step on him, before she holding onto his hand, leaning against his chest to balance herself so she didn't fall. Then her guilt and embarrassment set it. "Ah- I'm so sorry." She turned her cheek to press her forehead to his chest, "Are people staring?" Her words more muffled, but audible enough for him to hear.

Azrael chuckled at her nervousness, he liked that about her. Despite her calm and professional behvaiour in the midst of business, her experiences outside of it and with foreign areas made her adorable. Although he did have to admit that without the heels the height difference might have been a bit much, "Or it'd be easier, I'd just carry you while twirling myself." He snorted slightly, "But we'd definitely get some odd looks from other people I imagine."
It was at this point that Azrael felt a sudden point drive against his shoes, followed by an immediate stumble from Evelyn. He dropped down his body weight, adjusting the pressure of his arm around her and supported her weight by tucking under her and pressing his body against hers. "Gotcha. You alright?" Though it didn't seem like she needed help as she eventually managed to balance herself, he felt her forehead press against him, but it seemed the only injury was perhaps to her pride. Azrael scanned the area around him, "No, they're only concerned." He whispered back, "It's alright. You're doing well." He nuzzled against her hair "Last few steps... come on."
As the song hit it's crescendo, Azrael released his arm from her waist as they uncoiled to the instruction, then with a his wrist, he guided Evelyn back into a twirl into his arms, making sure her full bodyweight was on the tilt of his fore-arm, he tilted forwards, pressing her close to his body as his remaining arm lifted her leg up, tilting her fully against the weight of gravity. His eyes submerged themselves fully into her auburn ones, and he closed what remaining distance was left, sliding his lips into hers and sucking down on her lower lip.
Tongue action would have been great, but given the audience so far, he'd rather keep it private. His tongue gently ran against her lower lip, tasting her lips, hopefully not removing much of her lipstick in the process, before pulling away, grinning, then gently lifting her back up to stand. "You did great for your first time." He replied, "Except maybe that one part, but uh, part of me was hoping you'd be tripping up anyways." He admitted, laughing, then stroking a strand of hair that had gone slightly loose behind her head. As the class finished up with packing up and saying their goodbyes to each other, Azrael took Evelyn back out into the open air.
"Are you free for dinner?" Azrael spoke, holding her waist as they walked back to his car. "We can head back to my apartment, I can cook us something, and I have a bottle of champagne I can pop, and then we can watch some scary movies while cuddling on the sofa. If not, I can just drive back to your place."

Only concerned. That meant they were staring, which didn't make her feel less embarrassed but she forced herself to peek from his chest. Glancing over at an older couple, as her eyes met with the older woman Evelyn abruptly reverted them and returned her view to that of the man holding her instead. John honestly surprised her. His invitation had been different, but the fact that he was actually not a bad dancer at all made him a mystery to her. Who was this man she'd met in the not so 'friendly' part of the city?
She made a faint, surprised gasp as he dipped her. Eyes shutting as she held onto him firmly for fear that she'd fall or he'd accidentally drop her. When neither occurred, it gave her heart less of a reason to panic, until she felt his lips on hers, the man's tongue graze her. It left the woman legitimately dazed and confused, but giddy, excited. Honestly, it was as if she were in high school with her nerves being as they were. She'd dwell on this later, and wonder why she reacted in such a way if not because she just wasn't used to this sort of attention.
She caught a glimpse of that grin of his as she peeked at him before he stood her up. She had to steady herself against him, pressing her palms to his chest as her wits returned to her. "I told you I couldn't dance." She breathed, practically pouting as he teased her but she knew he was just teasing. Still, she was ever embarrassed by it all. She patted his chest playfully, hoping he'd ease up on her a little at least and watched some of the guests that had been dancing along with them slowly leave.
It felt better, being out in the fresh air. Now that a bunch of people weren't watching her attempt to dance she could relax a little, his offer though was a bit tempting. "Would we really watch movies? Or is that an invitation for sex?" She smirked, but despite her lighthearted way of saying it she didn't want him to think that she was here to rush things with anyone. If he wanted one night stands, well, she wasn't nearly drunk enough for that. "I'm starting to think I could really like you John." She tipped her head up to look at him. "I don't want to rush things. Is that okay with you?" If it wasn't, she'd genuinely understand. In today's world, most people her age were married already, had at least one kid and were already settled down. Her life outside work was a total failure, but that was yet another reason she did work so much. It was less depressing and lonely if she was always busy, helping someone, doing good for society.
"Do you really know how to cook too?" Was he just good at everything? She smiled at the thought.

Azrael listened to her comments as she spoke, he didn't interrupt as it seemed as if she was uncomfortable with heading to his house. A fair point, and he should have realized it sooner. "Ah, I see." He stated, nodding in agreement to it. "I like you Evelyn, I thought you might know this already, but I wanted to let you know regardless. " He said his eyes transfixed on her, "I was going to watch a movie with you. I was hoping to cuddle." He said, his eyes observed her reaction, "But I wouldn't have pushed it past your comfort zone. I've seen enough of people treating women horribly to despise that myself." He smiled, there was no animosity to it. The only difference was, that he had no idea she felt this way about the date.
"I didn't spend all this time just because all I wanted was to have sex with you." He stated, it was simple, clear. "This date was to see if we have something between us... and we do. You need to trust me." He stated, gently stroking her cheek. "Come on, let's get you home." His head tilted towards the car as he clicked a button on his car keys, then opened the door for her. Entering himself, he turned on the ignition and drove. He could see it from her perspective, at least a bit. She was used to men seeing her as nothign but an object o lust, good looks would do that to a person. Azrael came from a middle-class background, but when he reached the peak of his fortune, he wasn't exactly deprived of gold-diggers and fans either. In that he could relate to what she meant.
As he drove patiently along the roads, Evelyn drew out the next question. "It's not too hard." He stated, smirking towards her. "I got tired of eating instant ramen noodles and canned soup when I was about thirteen, so I decided: Hey, let's try for a salad. Turns out it's a pretty decent hobby to have." A flashback to college days occurred, working with a crappy electric stove that never heated properly and having to deal with undercooked chicken. "Once you have your basic skills: cutting, grilling, baking, that kind of work, you realize how many things you can actually make." His eyes wandered from the road to her, "I was thinking of something simple for dinner, you know, a good tenderloin, baby potatoes, that sort of thing. But, ah well, maybe some other time."
As they arrived outside of Evelyn's home, Azrael pulled out his keys, got out of the car and opened the door for her, taking her hand, closing the door and gently holding her in his arms. "Listen," he began, "I want to be intimate with you. But that wasn't my intention to have sex with you on the first night after you said you wanted to move slower." He paused. He shouldn't have to tell her about this, but it was best to communicate it regardless, "But I do want to get there at some point. And if you don't feel ready for that... you need to let me know." And with that, he pulled her into one more kiss, his tongue slid between his lips into hers, gently rolling against her tongue, exploring the roof of her mouth, then sucking outwards, gently, with his lips. "I'll see you around Doc."

For a variety of reasons, yes, she had trust issues. It was easier working. It was easy, she knew what she was doing. Relationships? She felt clueless. Theoretically she knew how they worked, what constituted a stable relationship between two people, but it was much more difficult for her to experience close relationships with people that it was for her to explain how they were maintained and healthy.
Evelyn understood after he confessed to her the efforts he'd made, that he was right, but to know in the moment how ridiculous she might seem it made her feel hopeless to her own self. As they got to his car, and she turned to him, Evelyn couldn't help but to internally sigh at herself as he lifted a hand to her cheek. "I don't mean to come off that way..." Bitchy? Accusatory? She didn't know the proper word to use, but really she just didn't want to say it out loud. As he unlocked his car, opened her door for her she nodded and hopped in.
Fussing with the edges of the fabric of her skirt as he drove with her occasional direction, Evelyn mostly kept her eyes staring out of her window. She was going to spend the night alone, again, after a date. So lame of you Evelyn. She did have things to do the next day, and early appointment in the morning, and it was true she felt exhausted.
She grinned at his reasoning to learn to cook, tilting her head to see his smirk as it arose before he went on. "It is a fairly decent skill to have, yes." She agreed. "Next time, sure." If he did decide he'd be willing to meet with her again, if her schedule permitted it, if she didn't completely chicken out.
Upon arriving to her home she was relieved, if not melancholic with its familiarity. The large three story home that could accommodate at least two families and it was simply hers alone. She was definitely stripping her clothes and taking a nap the second she stepped inside. Stepping out of his car as he opened the door for her brows lifted as he pulled her into his arms, but it was comforting, and he was so kind to her. She hesitantly lifted her arms to hold onto him as he did the same to her, keeping her eyes open as he spoke. "Okay." A simple response to what he said, but she didn't know what else to say. For once she was at a loss for words.
She tipped her head, and kissed him back as she felt his lips on hers, her lips parting as he initiated it and grazed her tongue against his own. Her fingers curled in the fabric of his shirt until their lips parted. Each and every time he kissed her this way, it felt like total tease and pained her to know that he was just going to leave, but she had her rationality back as he spoke. Resting a hand on his chest, she nodded once slowly and kissed his jaw affectionately. "Thank you. I hope the rest of your night goes well." With that she snuck passed him, adjusted the strap of her bag over her shoulder, and walked up the path to her front door.
