Introducing the one, the only, the loser | MORRICONE, AKA The Devil's Advocate - Is a bit of a loser, at least when you compare him to other heroes around town. To be honest, sometimes, he feels like what he fights for is ultimately pointless, but other folks will try to reassure him that since he works with a different focus in mind, Morricone takes care of the little issues what would make everybody else's life crappy in the long term. He means well. He does his best. And sometimes, he gets the spotlight for it. Sometimes.
FRONDS - Okay but seriously give him some friends he's probably a depressed ass loser who's self decrepating as all hells. I mean he spends all of his time reading books or writing essays and studying magic, and socializing is an E F F O R T he hates doing so get him off his ass and into the streets and he'll be there for you afterwards, through thick and thin.
Oh and also he cooks like super duper well and will let anybody crash in his house if they need somewhere to lay low.
JERKS - There are two things Morricone's blood boil, and that's someone getting away with something terrible, or someone abusing their new powers for bad or selfish stuff. You can easily get on his backside if you just use your powers for petty reasons, or if you think that they make you invincible. Prepare for a haymaker if you're the kind of bad guy to think you can get away with murder because you've never been caught, because he'll prove you wrong.
LURVE - Love is a really tough thing for Morricone because he's pretty much aromantic/asexual, so I mean people who want to romance him already start with a disadvantage. Also he has trouble really getting to know people in general - so going the next step is just another problematic situation for him. Also, he's seen people he loved die because of his own enemies here and there, so that's another hurdle to go over - he doesn't want to commit if he's going to be hurt even more.. All in all, if (and that's the important word, IF) he gets serious with someone, then he'll probably commit nicely, and stay in his nest. Don't expect the dong tho.
THE OTHER STUFF - Morricone owns a small library (called The Devil's Advocate, from which he gets his hero name) up in Innsmouth, near the Miskatonic University - it's his little 'havre de paix', so to speak: it's got 3 floors, with the first one being a library/bureau for his cases and organisation issues, and the other two being living space and alchemical lab/kitchen mix.
The fact of the matter is that his job is investigation of the "weird" kind: bizarre cases or deaths, mysterious disappearances, strange crime scenes, etc. If you have a problem with something spooky and scary, he's also one of the leading experts in Kingsport about the Occult and the Strange, so you know. Call him up or something.

The Devil's Advocate Hello friend I am here and I'd totally be down for a bit of cat and mouse. I haven't nailed down exactly how we'd go about it, but like I said earlier Morricone is super neat. On the other hand I kind of get the feeling that they'd make decent friends? I think he'd be curious to learn more about Morricone's business too.

wildfire: yeah, I can see it going both ways. And I think we should have it go both ways, actually - start as friendship, and then both of them start digging a little deeper... Or at least, Morri does. Or, of course, Devil's Advocate could be ignorant of the whole "double-agent" schtick until the Big Reveal (if there is any). After that, oh boy, you're gonna have one pissed boy after you. Which will also be fun to write out!

The Devil's Advocate Excellent I'll be looking forward to it! Sometime in the future, I will likely toss a second character in your direction. He's being bothered by a former student who keeps asking him questions whose answers might be handy to a murderer. She's possessed by a demon, might be up Morricone's alley?

The Devil's Advocate ,
So like I have a feeling that Hades and and Morr will not be good friends. Like Hades would just probably see him as like someone he can mess with and like so this is how I see it pan out. Hades would be like compelling some of humans to do stuff for him and Morr will see it and obvs not like that so he tries to like scold Hades.... and idunno what happens after that. hades would probably not retaliate or anything. probably just not take him seriously and laugh.
sorry im bad at this

@coal, Ok, so I totally agree with everything you said, if Morricone finds out Hades is playing with people's heads, he won't like it But it'll be worse than just him not liking it though. He won't just scold Hades. Playing with someone's brain is slavery in his book. Expect a sucker punch fight on Hades's pretty face, really. Could have a certain tension and friction between them regarding that and other stuff, too - that'd be nice.

Love it love it. Im pree sure that hades would probably just brush it off and not even try fighting back. maybe summon an undead or two and watch him struggle with that while continuing to enslave the humans. Plus it would be quite the conversation of Morr like telling Hades thats not what the intiative does and we cant just walk around using our powers and what not. I dont really know where they would meet tho. Preferably not a park since im already in like 2 park threads.

The Devil's Advocate: To be completely honest with you, I dropped by because I read library. Now, I don't know if his library is open for public viewing, but I've got delta. He's this person who barely even gets out of his house, but will most likely travel to Innsmouth to read a book or two at Miskatonic University, and I figure he'd have heard of Morricone's library from there.
You mentioned religious and occultism and philosophical books, right? Delta could use some of that. Even though he's a villain, he might as well have been a civilian ... book recommendations though
I also have Jack, but he's hopeless at studying and/or books. He'd probably fall asleep lmao. (Unless Morricone wants to tutor the child to a passing grade, that's cool too.)

i’m sure morricone gets many varied visitors at his little library but maybe there’s that one that gives him a bad feeling. okay, maybe there’s a few knowing the make-up of kingsport, but this is a bad feeling even if the guy is just coming by to check that he’s stocked up on the texts for a seminar he’s teaching that semester. or is just coming by to see if The Devil's Advocate has eat, pray, love in stock in his occult library. susan @ book club says it changed her life.
anyway, while i’d love to rp these two meeting as two characters so deeply rung in the occult, there’s also plenty of potential for future plots that i would love a crack at. especially the idea of an occult investigation. mr. laurent here probably has obscure essays on cosmicism up on the depths on google scholar that end up being relevant in a order of dagon case-related case.
essentially, if yr thread load is not too heavy, i’d love to do a cult investigation thread. the man who made a deal with the devil teams up with lovecraft antichrist to bust up something occult. if there's anyone else you think would work for it, you could invite them as well? their personalities would be an interesting clash, too! hit me back up with what you think or if you have any other relevant ideas.
