It had started off simply: a fireworks show, which everyone had appreciated. Until the moment someone realized the fireworks were coming from an uninhabited building, and then the rumours started to spread like wildfire. Grey had heard many truths and untruths about the situation until he decided to check it out himself. (Someone had asked him to, very nicely, and with a helping of cash. That had been hard to turn down.) To the building he went, but not before dropping by a café to figure out the immediate situation. So far, some concerned people had notified the Initiative. They might send heroes, apparently. Grey was prepared, but as long as he didn’t do anything much, he figured he wouldn’t have to incur questioning. The lobby had its fair share of paranormal investigators, who had obviously sneaked in. They tried to talk to Grey, but he had beelined for the service elevator. Upon reaching the top floor, Grey realized he wasn’t alone. The grille ground open and he stepped out of the elevator. “They called you in, too?” Grey called out to the other person who had apparently arrived there before he did. The residents hadn’t been shy about making their worries known, then. The sky above rumbled. According to the weather forecast, they were due for rain sometime tonight. scarf

The Initiative had bigger preys to hunt. Although heroes like Eun-ha are often dispatched mostly for national disasters, he had been venturing solo for the past few months. It’s only the small ones however, as they believe it’ll help him develop without risking him. He himself knows he's become stagnant, and quite frankly he wouldn’t do anything about it unless he’s asked. The only reason why he’s on this rank is because of his gift. But character wise, he is lacking in a lot of aspect.
Arriving only by commuting, Scarf carefully wrapped his neck with his signature apparel. He wore something different today, a piebald of blue and red, cascading like the galaxies and yet following a particular rule of gradient shading. A couple recognized outside the building, furthering inside of in one even called out his hero name. As he was taught, he asked to get out. It’s for their own safety. “No”, one of them protested. Scarf argued and pleaded, making it clear that he cannot afford risking them. Still, they imposed themselves to stay and play their little game.
Maybe there really wasn’t anything here.
He continued the climb, but of course with the elevator first. Later on he’ll use the stairs, visiting each floor to make a thorough check. He caught another group snooping around, but he managed to inveigle these lots to at least leave the roof.
Scarf spotted nothing out of the ordinary, save for the black spot on the roof’s flooring. He crouched and smudged an index against it, taking a whiff of it. It smelled nothing like blasting powder. What is it exactly, he wondered. It smelled familiar. A voice however broke his concentration on it. He stood up and turned towards the voice’s owner. “Ah!” he exclaimed lightly, as if surprised. Scarf doesn’t recognize him, but he seemed reliable. In fact the aura of a senior radiated from him. Instinctively he nodded, bowing even a little to show respect. His parents taught him that. “I didn’t know I was going to be accompanied.”

Grey stood awkwardly in front of the grille as it ground shut yet again. Behind him, the elevator groaned, and it made its way down again. Someone had apparently been in want of it – probably paranormal investigators looking to make a quick buck off the incident. “Same here,” said Grey, narrowing his eyes as he looked at the scene. Speaking of which, there wasn’t much of a scene for him to see. There was the customary tape used to indicate that something had happened, but the lack of closure and personnel lurking around meant that whatever that something was, it was still a something and not anything in particular. In other words: Even the Initiative didn’t fucking know. “Expected more,” he commented with a small upwards nod of his head towards the blackish marks on the rooftop. It was the only thing he could say; whatever it was hadn’t reappeared. Whether it was a good or bad thing remained to be seen. Grey walked over to the darkened spot next to Scarf and scuffed its edges with the tip of his boot. It came off, but interestingly enough, it didn’t reveal the cement floor below it. “… excuse me,” Grey muttered as a formality, and knelt down next to it. He brought his finger to the substance he’d scraped off, brushing against it lightly to see if it would react. Nothing. Whatever it was, it was already nulled and gone. He looked up at Scarf. “What if the ghosts just wanted to celebrate. Still going to exorcise them?” scarf

Another one who seem to lack any sort of social etiquette. It wasn’t anything too offensive, but people like him have been increasing lately. Eun-ha’s prejudice is out of place though; he doesn’t know what they've been through. That is why he behaves humbly enough as if the treatment he receives from his type is natural.
“My name is Eun-ha.” He put it out there, to make sure they don’t come across the awkward moment wondering what to call him. He used his real name too since he had foolishly assumed that he’s part of the Initiative. This is why he doesn’t get to lead any important mission.
He returned his sights back towards the black mess on the flooring. What looks like idle gazing or thinking is actually him feeling through the mystery powder’s composition. The slight trace of ectoplasm and faint anomaly in its molecular frequencies have him confirmed it was a ghost. He heard the man’s voice again, and obediently he stood up and made way for him.
The inquiry had him shake his head. He was unsure of what to do, well not entirely. He’s been trained by the Initiative after all. “That depends. There are a lot of factors to consider, like intent and threat level. Some are truly innocent, no doubt about that, but if we come to a conclusion that their ability is a national risk, we’ll have to take a more effective action.” he answered. Exorcising is one of those, but not necessarily the go to way. Scarf would like to solve this through diplomacy, but it rarely works. “I’m sorry, but I think it’s too early to conclude that they were here to celebrate. We should find out more. Can you perform a séance? I’m sure that’ll help us out a lot.” ψ[newclass=".sensesimage"]width: 500px; height: 200px; background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/ImeE73K.gif');[/newclass] [newclass=".sensesimagetab"]width: 500px; height: 200px; background-color: #eeeeee; opacity: 0; -webkit-transition-duration: 1s; transition-duration: 1s; -moz-transition-duration: 1s;[/newclass] [newclass=".sensesimagetab:hover"]opacity: 0.5; -webkit-transition-duration: 1s; transition-duration: 1s; -moz-transition-duration: 1s;[/newclass] [newclass=".sensesimagetabtext"]padding: 15px; text-align: center; height: 180px; color:#0F0E0C;font-family:playball;font-size:20px;[/newclass] [newclass=".senseshovtab"]width:300px;background-color:#6B8387;padding:5px;color:white;margin-top:10px;margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto;text-align:center;font-family:lora;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=".sensesborder"]background-color:#504748;width:500px;height:40px;[/newclass] [newclass=".sensestable"]background-color:#6B8387;width:460px;height:400px;padding:20px;overflow:auto;[/newclass] [newclass=".sensestextbox"]font-family:lora;color:white;text-align:justify;font-size:12px;[/newclass] [newclass=.sensestable::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.sensestable::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#222;[/newclass]

"Grey," he returned the introduction with one of his own. Grey stood again once Eun-ha had explained his stance. That was an acceptable position to take; not everyone was inclined to hope for the best, or to come to conclusions. Grey shifted slightly as the image of a ghostly creature floated to the forefront of his mind. It wasn't just one, no; there had been more than one, and not all of them were friendly beings. Perhaps Eun-ha wasn't too far off the mark. Still, he was disinclined to agree -- something in his gut told him that not even a seance could help unravel this mystery. "No, I can't," he said. That struck 'helping out a lot' off the list, then. The dust on the ground seemed as inert as ever. Until something sparkled at the edges of the fine powder, and that included the tip of Grey's boot. From it, a strange sort of spirit started to rise in wisps. It had no particular form, but what was apparent was its two bodies. One was small, while the other was larger. They shone a sort of iridescent pink, the type that looked like flesh and blood, before forming into two beings. It seemed that the spirits had reacted to Grey and Eun-ha's presence; but as Grey glanced from Eun-ha to the two beings before them, he realized that calling them ghosts had been a foolish step by whoever had wrote the report on this incident. Standing before them were the ghosts of future and past, one looking at Grey and the other at Eun-ha. scarf

Odd. Why would they send another one who doesn’t specialize in dealing with this kind of situation. The Initiative sure is a mystery. Eun-ha thought he might be sent here for the same reason as he was. It’s probably best not to pry.
Out of nowhere, averred a presence of a conundrum. It appeared like smoke, but didn’t ride the wind. It had its own flow. It’s definitely a paranormal entity. Eun-ha took a couple of step back away from, ensuring a safe distance to whatever possibility it may be. It could a trap, an arcane explosion that’ll set off like the firework. Or it could be more.
“They’re not ghosts.” said captain obvious. It was more of an expression really. Even if they’re not ghost, they definitely do not abide the standards of this primal realm. Not that he’s well-versed with mystical beings.
Eun-ha slightly squinted his eyes towards them, carefully examining the beings that had beheld before them. The two were bizarrely ostentatious. Eun-ha then began to use his ability, diving into their core with merely his waves to try and identify it. He didn’t specifically alter anything, he did it by knocking with their form, or what’s corporeal of it at least. It was hard to even grasp anything, so if both of these are in anyway a threat in their current form, Eun-ha would definitely have a difficult time facing them.
“I can’t touch them. What are these things?” he said soon. What he meant by touch is what was mentioned before. He can’t tamper them, at least not without causing anything too drastic.

Perhaps the Initiative knew what was up and that a seance really wasn't needed. Who knew what the dispatchers were up to, huh? Grey knew they weren't ghosts. At the very least, they weren't like the ghosts he remembered dealing with -- or rather, pulled from the contents of the memories that he had gained from his alternate selves. It was because of this that he became slightly more wary of what could transpire from the situation. Against logic but in tune with his instincts, Grey reached out to swipe at one of the apparitions. As expected, it wasn't tangible. |ySamjOv <50 nulls a part of them, >50 hurts both ghost and himself As he pulled his hand back, so did the ghost that he had 'touched.' Both of them recoiled in pain and as mirror images of each other; Grey stumbled backwards, holding the hand that hurt by the wrist with his other hand. He blinked back the pain, gritted his teeth, and growled as he looked up at the apparition once again. So they were both connected somehow? Grey didn't understand. "It's hurt," said Grey, as the ghost nearly doubled over in trying to recover. "Usually spirits never exist around me." He didn't know why. "Yet these ..." scarf

Incorporeal objects are hard to deal with as they are. These are even worse, they’re somehow present and absent at the same time. It’s as if they’re only anchored in this world, but not for long. As how and why, maybe he’ll find out soon.
He turned his head towards Grey, noticing that his curiosity is much eager than his. The first thing he did was touch them. That’s some admirable courage, but at the same time also concerning. “They don’t look like a threat though.” he commented. Famous last words.
The ghost of the ‘past’ started to bubble. Once a blank and vague form of a humanoid creature started to boil and blur its outlines. It was enveloped in some sort of energy, ectoplasm perhaps. Whatever it was, what made it spirit-like absconded. Eun-ha didn’t notice when, but the transition happened. The ghost became a large physical being, as the smoke cleared out it looked like a body, a really hideous one. The skin looked like it was mangled and patch on it, its arms were in no way the same length or width. It hunched forward, showing only its back. “Eugh..” Eun-ha audibled, expressing his disgust.
The other ghost, perhaps the future started to take form as well. This one didn’t transform in the same volatile way. It was more meticulous with its transformation. It began to brighten, more and more before ending it with one last flash. It became Grey, at least.. what looks like him.

It certainly looked like Grey, but it was something different. The future forme - the one that resembled Grey - was still holding its arm the same way Grey held his. Grey slacked his grip on his hand, and let his arms return to flank him. Future Grey did the same thing as well. Next to Future Grey was a strange creature, no less hideous than the worst things Grey had seen in memories that weren't originally his. Its asymmetry seemed to be a significant trait, though. Eun-ha found the creature disgusting and had voiced it aloud, and Grey could see when it hunched forward with its arms dangling like those of a puppet. Future Grey was still glowing, even as it finally took form. It was almost as if it couldn't decide what it ought to be; it shuffled between faces, and its frame grew and shrunk repeatedly. The future was hard to place. Nothing was yet set in stone. " These things set off the fireworks?" said Grey, and took a step back. Somehow, Grey had a feeling Future Grey would repeat his actions after they had apparently shared the same pain. Thankfully, Future Grey seemed unable to speak. And so, Future Grey only took a step backwards. scarf

How does even answer that question? He doesn’t know. Eun-ha’s, if not more, is baffled as he is. There’s no reason for a firework. He’s so sure that these things didn’t celebrate the 4th of July. “Maybe it was a bait?” it’s possible. He kept trying to figure it out, trying to make sense out of all this. It halted though, as soon as that hulking monstrosity turned around.
“..Dad?” how did he even identify him. “Mom?” or her. That looked nothing like the loving parents he knew. Their face were barely discernable, along with the inconsistent hue of the skin, randomly spread like camouflage. Somehow he knew though.
The creature let out a sound, trying to word Eun-ha’s name. It only came like an incoherent low screech, like a heavy metallic object being dragged on the floor. It hurt, but Eun-ha was too focused at their image. He doesn’t understand how he feels. He shook his said, trying to resonate with everything left that’s logical around. It’s a ghost, definitely a ghost. That’s what he’s thinking. But at one point he thought he’s being furtive, knowing that it’s his fault that they died.
Nothing else came out of his mouth, but he was stunned. He kept both eyes wide towards them, unblinking. The creature started to move, avulsing one of its arm’s flesh off to show a rather sharp protruding bone. Eun-ha felt too despondent, but he needed to fight. Sadly, the fighting energy only granted him a couple of words. Biting his lower lip, he whimpered as a tear trails down his cheek. “I’m sorry.”

Instinctively, Grey glanced from Eun-ha to the strange being that stood before the two of them. That thing was his parents? Well, what did he know. Come to think of it, hadn't Eun-ha expressed his disgust -- Grey took a mental step back from the entire situation. Family businesses were tricky things to deal with. They were always things he wanted to stay the fuck away from all the time. And so he did. Besides -- he had his own 'ghost' to deal with. It wasn't so much a ghost now as it was a being made out of a sort of inky black exoskeleton that grew like layers upon skin. Perhaps that was how it coped without having a real face to speak of. Future Grey raised a clawed hand in greeting as Eun-ha apologized to his own ghost. It was Future Grey's first move that wasn't a mirror of Grey's. Grey took it to mean that it had finally settled into a form, just like how Eun-ha's apparition had. "Are you going to fight it?" Grey asked. Future Grey didn't seem aggressive -- yet. Perhaps it reflected the inner state of their own minds; so far, Grey was taking everything in stride. It hadn't actually gone completely weird. scarf

Earlier was peculiar enough, but this was too much.
“I.. I don’t know.” It was the truth. What did it want even? Why his parents!? It was too personal for him, of course he had become emotional. The beast moved towards Eun-ha, making the same kind of noise. “What do you want? I can’t understand!” He shouted.
It started to pick up pace, moving towards Eun-ha. It raised one of its arm, then the other one from the same size. A horrible synthesis then took place, as if the very appendages started to combined. It was imperfect, while it tried to imitate one large arm, both of them could easily identify that it’s poorly put together. It appeared like its two arm pressed and melted on top of each other, and the fingers were the same. It was then, but five combined.
“I have to.” Eun-ha said, wiping his eyes before pointing both arms towards the creature. Unlike earlier, this was more tangible. He started to increase its temperature, hoping it’d catch fire or melt. Before he could even attain the desired temperature, he felt his own body heat up. As Grey experienced, what he did to the other was set upon him. “Fuck!” he cursed, unable to bear the pain and ceasing. He loosened up his scarf, panting heavily due to the sudden change of his body’s temperature. “How does it do that?” he whispered to himself, turning his eyes back up towards the creature. The creature was too close, it was too late to dodge. It grabbed his body, slowly crushing his rib. Eun-ha gasped out for air, struggling out of its grip.

The bonus point about having their pain shared and equalled was that the brute was definitely feeling it as well. Not only had Grey felt pain; Future Grey had, too. Whatever it was that was crushing Eun-ha was surely crushing itself at the same time. The connection was a double-edged sword; a two-way street with no end and no beginning. "Dunno," Grey muttered. It was best to not question the supernatural at this point. Then Grey took a wild stab at the truth as he guessed, "Because it's a part of you." Future Grey took a step towards him, and started to circle Grey as if he were prey. Grey supposed he was, to some extent. Eun-ha had displayed aggression and Future Grey had assumed the same of Grey before he had even thought of moving. Before he became the predator, he had been coerced into the role of prey. Grey didn't want to unsheathe his claws even if Future Grey had. His intention was not to fight -- never to fight. Even as Odysseus screamed for the thrill of battle and Gale started to awaken at the prospect of bloodshed, he held strongly to his lack of desire to fight. "Getting rid of it means getting rid of a part of you. Would you even be the same after that?" scarf

It was unheard of. ‘This thing, a part of me?’ he asked himself again. It honestly surprised how much Grey knew about these two, whereas just a couple of minutes ago they had no idea what these things were.
It was hard to think, not while he was getting crushed like some bug. Grey was right though, despite its appalling mass, it didn't put enough pressure on him. It was in paint, the creature screamed louder as he did. Why did it attack him in the first? Was it even attacking him.
It hit him.
He looked right into their eyes, both of the seemingly monstrous façade. These were definitely his parents, but why would they appear like so? He remembered their smiles, well, mostly putting on this disappointed look, but their happiness still echoed within his memories. Not this creature. Perhaps it’s a reflection of how he feels about their death, how his hesitation lead to their fate. The deeper he went into this self-reconciliation, the stronger the pressure the flesh monster put into its grasp. “Gaaah!” he wailed, but the hurt provided even more clarity. It showed him how he truly felt. He didn’t want them to leave, he could have stopped them. He was just so afraid to voice himself out, even if he knew he was right.
The shaking stopped. He fought no more, but instead let this thing do its worst to him. That doesn’t mean he gave up though, he had no intention to let everything end here.
He reached out towards his the face of his parents. “I’m sorry.” He repeated. If this was the solution, it should have worked earlier. It was genuine earlier ago, he still held on to his pride about being right at the time. He thought he was sinless, just unfortunate. He was wrong. “I’m sorry.” One more time. He reached out towards his parents face. “I should have stopped you two, but I couldn’t. I always thought you two were too selfish and manipulative, and I always thought it’s because you two knew the best. I thought you wanted me to become a doctor because of money, b-but. You wanted that because you two wanted me to take care of you two in the future. For that, I am really sorry.”
The creature started to radiate in the same manner Grey’s ghost did earlier. Soon Eun-ha dropped to the ground, in this melodramatic mess. The creature turned into an image of himself. It was just like him, but with eyes the glowered in power.
Eun-ha sobbed on the floor, continuously wiping his face with his scarf. The image kneeled down to him, momentarily turning towards Future Grey and nodding. Eun-ha leaned towards the warming comfort of his mirror, letting out everything he kept inside all these years. The Ghost Eun-ha would then start returning into its original form, and passively Eun-ha’s body started to absorb that energy.

"Just a guess," Grey clarified. He wasn't sure as to the true nature of these apparitions. A day ago, there had been reports of fireworks being set off at the top of this rooftop. At this point, Grey wasn't even sure if that was really the case -- maybe it was just the reaction of someone to their own ... whatever these things were. Apparitions, maybe. Or a reflection of themselves, as he had assumed them to be. Grey glanced at Eun-ha and his confronting his past. It was an odd situation to observe; Grey didn't have any sort of regret like that, or burdens that he carried upon his shoulders. The only thing he bore the weight of weren't his to begin with. They belonged to ... the others. He looked from Eun-ha and the morphing apparition to Future Grey, whose appearance was hidden behind an exoskeleton as dark as the farthest reaches of space. Now that he was at this point in the game, Grey had second thoughts about letting Future Grey be. Allowing it to enter his body as Eun-ha did was a viable solution, but was he truly ready? Or was it going to hurt as it had when he touched Future Grey? How had the rest come into existence within him? Was it the same process? Grey's head hurt from pondering the question that seemed to have no ready answer. Future Grey stopped circling Grey, as if sensing the turbulence within him. It tilted its head, as if asking a question: What are you going to do next? What will you do?Grey reached out a hand and swiped at Future Grey once again. Unlike Eun-ha, who had figured out that the apparition took the form of his past, Grey had yet to understand the significance of the one that represented him. tcVgIEWD <50 still burns the same as before, >50 future grey changes Was reaching out, as Eun-ha did, the right thing to do? Future Grey started to glow again, and the exoskeleton melted away as the inky darkness started crawling up Grey's hand in turn. It didn't hurt as much as it had when he first touched Future Grey, but his veins now burned black. Grey fought to stave off the pain as he stood, rigid like a wall, next to Eun-ha and Mirror Eun-ha. scarf
