Finally posted yay~ | Space. Earthlings call it the final frontier for… reasons that weren’t explained well to him.
He wondered why they were already rushing to look to and explore this last frontier when they hadn’t even truly seen all that they could of their -our?- world, but he could not begrudge them of that, especially not after he had heard about their first globally known truly hostile encounter with space-faring races. Still, a majority of their technology was admittedly barely space-worthy in his (admittedly high if he were to really think about it) standards so he wasn’t surprised when a mission involving a dead space station went up.
What he was surprised about was that his own true organization asked him to investigate into the matter, citing his expansive experience in space as well as their own designs for the information within. Figures. What followed was him volunteeering for the mission to the Initiative dispatchers, reasoning that his ability with electricity was fine enough to help out with the station and boot up its computers long enough to get the data the mission needed. Of course, haggling for him to be able to go on the mission took longer than that, but eventually they agreed on the condition that he be accompanied by a senior -and more trusted- hero.
It’s a small nuisance, but understandable. And hey, he lucked out in having Ricki be the one picked to help him out instead of someone who would be more suspicious. Now all he needed to do was get to the space station, but this spaceship was slow as hell (in his standards) so it would take a while more before it would reach it. Gods, it was only close to the moon. He could have probably flown there much faster if he were to be honest, but he had to keep up appearances.
Well, at least the scenic route was nice. ”Enjoying yourself with this trip, Ricki?” He asked as he turned to her after looking out the window and watching the stars drift by for a bit. |
