[break][break] faust is noted for having a grim sense of humor, often commenting on dark or morbid situations with a smile on her face. in fact, the thought of dying and facing a sort of mortality thrills her, and she has had herself killed in numerous ways just to experience the sensations. [break][break] she is studious, and her main goal seems to be the acclimation of all accessible knowledge. to that end, she is willing to do whatever is necessary - including the horrific ceremonies required to create and maintain her phylactery, as well as her current employment within spectre as one of its longest-running members. [attr="class","subcat"]biographical details some time ago, a girl stumbled upon a dark secret in a set of ruins in eastern europe. the details are lost, but there are texts that survive that detail some things known as fact; a young woman was found to be cutting up the living and the dead, in possession of texts that the local religious authorities deemed to be too dangerous for mortal hands. they set her up for death, where she laughed all the way. [break][break] the problematic fact was that she would not die. they executed her a total of twenty-two times before her escape, wherein she vanished from history. [break][break] in truth, faustine had simply desired a quieter life than those the quaint folk had tried to enforce on her with their trials and executions. she had better ways to spend her time; better ways to perfect the dark arts she had stumbled upon. she spent years practicing it in the dark, moving about the world so as to not attract too much attention. faust kept to herself or to others she was aware of that were in her line of work and interest; and only then to increase her own reserves of power and knowledge. [break][break] ultimately, her talents and eventual mastery over the dark art - necromancy - drew attention from powerful individuals, sometime in the very early 1900s. she was enlisted in her home area of austria, with promise for compensation in exchange for her talents. it was there that faust found a home within spectre, acting initially as one of their chief researchers and magical engineers of sorts; they desired an immortality beyond the limitations her own had, and they desired many a weapon that could be fueled by what she could do. [break][break] eventually, faust moved on to become a more active member of spectre; hers is one of the voices that govern what the organization does and how they do it. additionally, she acts as the handler for projects she worked on, as she is one of the only surviving members from their creation given her ageless grace. [attr="class","subcat"]immortality faust has unlocked the secrets of immortality via a phylactery, and is now deathless. any action that would cause death is rendered useless, and in the event of her body being rendered incapable or otherwise beyond repair - such as disentigration or body parts scattered from each other - any remaining parts disintegrate into dust, and she reforms at her phylactery within a week's time, depending on the severity of the event. however, destruction of her phylactery will render her mortal unless another one is constructed before her death. [attr="class","subcat"]accumulated knowledge faust has been an avid researcher since birth, and as such has a diverse background of medical and magical knowledge, as well as how to apply them. her time at spectre has increased this knowledge base tenfold, as she has access to all kinds of otherwise forbidden texts and sources; as such, she is considered spectre's premier magical knowledge source. [attr="class","subcat"]spectre handler while less of a superpower as more of a super privilege, it is worth noting that faust has been involved in and has various degrees of control over many of spectre's projects and agents, including activation words and commands, as well as general knowledge on how to work spectre-designed machinery and tech. |
