Tink is ALWAYS in an upbeat and positive mood. The equivalent of a ten year old in a constant state of euphoria, she’s never down and almost always loud. But she is however mind blowingly crazy. Most things that Tinker does is simply for the fun or thrill of it and nothing more. She doesn’t have any ambitions, no alignments, affiliations, or callings, she just simply likes to have fun. A simple person by most standards, if she’s not creating something then she’s doing something whacky. Or maybe she’s doing something whacky and creative at the same time! Dun dun duuuuuun. Little more than a high level adrenaline junky, because of this Tink can hardly be trusted by either hero, villain, or vigilante alike, as she will side with whomever is creating or going to create the most thrill and fun, not based on any sort of moral setting, though she isn't devious in any manner of the word, simply childish. Her child-like nature makes her naturally keen to speaking her mind as soon as a thought comes to her. Be it negative, positive, pointing out a flaw, or the obvious, she doesn't care. [attr="class","subcat"]biographical details Tinker was born on December 16th, twenty years ago to two Mexican immigrant parents. Her father, Carlos Martinez is but a simple mechanic, while her mother Angela Martinez is a software engineer for a programming company out of Arkaham. It didn’t take long for her interest to start being shown, having a knack for building things with her blocks rather effectively. By the time she was three she could take apart and put together the electronics around the house with little to no difficulty. At first her parents considered her to be a super genius of some sort, but as they went to get her tested, it turned out that she was actually severely autistic, that mechanics were just her niche. Nonetheless her parents were of the best sort, the type who did everything possible to groom their child for success in what they were actually good at and loved doing. [break][break] By the time Stephanie was five she had an ‘apprenticeship’ of sorts, with both her mother and father. It was then that she started getting into cars heavily, learning the ins and outs of them and how they function. Alternatively from her mother she was learning how to code and write programs. Little did any of them know that she wasn’t actually learning anything, instead she was using her gift to simply understand how it worked, though she was incapable of actually explaining anything. However regardless of if she could explain the process or not, she was still capable of producing codes that worked as well as work on vehicles and put them in a fully functionable state. [break][break] On her off time Stephanie could be found in the garage, creating. On her 8th birthday, being someone who didn’t have time for much human interaction, Stephanie created an object aptly called THE DEVICE as well as the being that lived within it that she named A.S. A.S. or Artificial Soul/Ashley Simmons to date is her greatest technomechanical achievement. As time went on Stephanie’s creativity continued to grow and grow as she mastered every creative process that was thrown her way, be it drawing, painting, metalsmithing, fabrication, etc, on the very first attempt at it. Nonetheless she wasn’t satisfied with any of that stuff that’s had already been done and mastered by others. She wanted her own niche...she knew she could have her own niche. [break][break] It was around the time that she turned eighteen that Stephanie discovered her true natural ability. The ability to create a functional object based off of her own childish imagination. The first thing that she had created like this was a supercomputer, which at the time she was playing pretend that a folded piece of paper that she had drawn keys on and called a computer. And so it was. As she ran outside to tell her mother who was working in her flower garden, she watched a Dodge Viper go by, wanting it to herself. And so it was. From seemingly nowhere, pieces of metal flew together from all over, recreating the vehicle...on top of her mother’s garden to her mother’s dismay. [break][break] Soon after, Stephanie began designing cars and got into indy and Nascar racing simply for the thrill of it. Winning every race she ever partook in, Tink just had a knack for driving, behind that wheel she could literally do no wrong. Needless to say, it didn’t take her long to accumulate a mass of wealth, a wealth that she spent to create a Fortune 500 company known as Tink Technology. A company that creates cybernetics for amputees as a front, but also creates more exotic technological cybernetics for others. But of course this is boring work, as well as competitive driving now being boring. So for the sake of thrill and fun, Tink decided to be a vigilante! Helping fight crime...while some time engaging in it...whatever shook things up and made things difficult. Basically a switch hitter, Tinker plays for either team as long as there is fun to be had. And if there is none...believe she’ll create it. This in turn causes her to be able to sculpt, paint, draw, metalcrafting, play any type of instrument, write amazingly, etc. Anything that is considered “Art” she can perform the required action intuitively at a mastery level. Nonetheless just being some sort of fancy pants artist isn’t the true spirit of the tinkerer. Because her brain only functions creatively, Tinker has the imagination (and personality) of a child. However because her imagination is so big, any of her creations can spring into reality. With that said, Tinker creates things, objects to behold, not anything organic, such as biological life, stars, planets, etc. She could however take a shoelace, paper clip, and a rubber band to create a ‘crossbow’, and the object(s) will transmogrify into a real crossbow, with the aesthetic look, functionality, and effect(s) of how she imagined it. [break][break] The interesting thing about this ability is that while any item she creates can be produced out of the most rudimentary of objects lying around, when they are changed aesthetically to how she imagined, they actually make mathematical and scientific sense. Be it that the wiring is correct, the mechanisms are correctly in place, the coding is perfect, etc etc. With that said, her creations abide by the laws of whatever physics is governing them at the time of their creation. So even against someone who can manipulate the rules of the world, Tinker’s items automatically attune themselves to the criteria that exist. Furthermore she is incapable of producing anything that can break the universe, planet, or the known laws of physics. She can however choose to create objects that ignore certain aspects of known physics, such as gravity, friction, inertia, etc. And finally every creation has to be named before it can actually work, and it's generally something outrageous and non-sensical. [break][break] The only way for an item to be broken that she has created is for it to “Not look right”. And just like any artist it doesn’t take much for her to feel like something she’s created doesn’t look right. But beware, setting the crossbow on fire may actually trigger it to be more functional or create flaming bolts that disintegrate just because “it looks cooler” in her imagination. Created items can be magical in nature, or physical in nature, or both. [break][break] Her items are temporary in the sense that while she can create anything from scrap, she (or anyone else) can only keep an item she’s created, after the thread it was created in, by adding it to their profile, paying the renown price to do so. [attr="class","subcat"]Mechanically Intuitive Simply put, any object that has wires, levers, pulleys, switches, relays, plugs, or is a mechanism of any sort, Tinker can understand it at a fundamental level simply by looking at it or touching said object. Because of her mechanical intuity she is also capable of reproducing the object to function the same, or even produce it with modifications. However unlike something that comes from her own mind, she can’t just put a piece of bubblegum together with a lighter and produce an existing flamethrower. No, that’s plagiarism. Instead she is forced to recreate the object by hand from top to bottom with the proper materials necessary to complete the project. With that said her steep understanding of mechanics also allows her to produce cybernetics and augmentations for the living or anything organic. So whether you lost an arm and need a new one to punch thru boulders, you just want a fancy jetpack implanted in your back, or a secret slot to hide cards at your wrist while you cheat at poker, Tinker has your back! [attr="class","subcat"]A.S. / THE DEVICE While she is incapable of creating biological life, because she’s flooding with technomagic, she can however create technological life. A.S. or an Artificial Soul (Steph calls her Ashley Simmons) is a technological life that she created on her spare time inside of THE DEVICE that attaches to her wrist. Always feeding A.S. with her outrageous amount of technomagic, simply put, A.S. can be everywhere…or at least existing within every mechanical device or piece of technology. Ironically, while she has a much higher IQ than Tinker, there is no time that she acts of her own accord or has yet to show the ability to. Which is the one folly that Tinker can’t stand, as she has no ‘life’ in that sense. But as she sees it, you have to grow to take risk and feel comfortable with the decision, so A.S. just needs more time to adapt. Like any sentient program, A.S. is capable of speech as well as knowing every known language, making it a skilled linguist as well as holding very human conversations. [break][break] Nonetheless, because A.S. is within all things mechanical and technological she is capable of altering them as she sees fit. Whether it’s changing the coding of a program, altering the display on a monitor, activating the sprinkler system, unlocking a door, creating malfunctions, creating viruses, etc etc. She almost acts more as a ghost than a program. Mapping the mechanics and technology of an area, A.S. can provide Tinker with three-dimensional layouts of an area based on how the pipe or wires are running. The same works for any other technological or mechanical device as well (including cybernetics), displaying them in a virtual three dimensional image on Tinker’s wrist device any time she ganders to have a look see. [break][break] THE DEVICE, as stated earlier, is the object that A.S. ‘lives in’. Literally attached to her wrist, the object cannot be removed and serves a host of purposes. First and foremost it shows her vitals, from her blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, limb function, toxicity levels, etc etc, in a digital readout form. Secondly, any mechanical device that is displayed in virtual 3D on THE DEVICE can be virtually taken apart or added to on the display. Meaning that Tinker can see the intricate pieces that make it work, as well as creating theoretical ideas for her own items or alterations. The third is the fact that it’s forever connected to the internet, thus A.S. is capable of finding the answers to most non-supernatural problems in mere moments. And fourth and not so important at all, whenever A.S. alters a system, whatever was changed is linked back to THE DEVICE allowing her to create custom messages, add emojis, and pictures how she wants. [attr="class","subcat"]Tinkerer’s Swiftness Simply put, Tinker can assemble or take apart any mechanical or technological object that she understands/knows how it works, is wishing to create, or that she has already created within the blur of moments (milliseconds). But this blur of speed only works when it’s for the purpose of building things and taking them apart, as she isn’t a speedster by any means, only able to run at peak human speed. [attr="class","subcat"]Vehicle Manifestation The last of her technomagical abilities, is the ability to manifest vehicles of any sort, provided she has at least seen it once before. With that said, when she uses this ability, all of the required pieces are pulled together and constructed within milliseconds. Nonetheless, just because the vehicle is formed with technomagic doesn’t mean that it has to be produced from metal, as Tinker can think up the fundamental design of a vehicle, but instead of using metal, produce it with plastic or any other material that can maintain shape. However because the vehicle is formed from magic, they don’t run off gas, but her own willpower to make them go. Thus if anyone ever tried to jack her for one of her cars, it simply wouldn’t work. But let it be known that ANY vehicle that Tink creates will be a stick shift. Doesn’t matter if it’s a dang unicycle. [attr="class","subcat"]Intuitive Driving Basically put, Tinker can instinctively drive any type of vehicle with an unparalleled level of skill. The things she is capable of doing behind the wheel is nail biting to say the least, yet the ability she actually generates the most thrill from. A master of evasive driving at any speed, if its physically possible to produce an effect needed from a vehicle at a specific moment, Tinker can and will get the job done. From somehow wedging a camero between a thirteen inch gap to executing mid-air spins and still landing with the car intact. If it can be done on one, two, three, or four wheels, Tink is the one ya want behind the wheel. [attr="class","subcat"]Nanobots Microscopic mechanical organisms that Tink has created and implanted within herself. These creatures heal and regenerate her at a rather spectacular rate. Within the frame of initial impact the organisms perform a sort of mechanical mitosis, splitting millions of times to create more of the organisms that then began to heal, repair, or regenerate the missing tissue, muscle, bone, or limb within only moments. This basically means that Tink could have her arm ripped torn off and it will regenerate within about a second or two. The Nanobots are so efficient that even if she's shot in the brain or heart, she may die for a couple of seconds, but they repair with such efficiency that they can restore lost brain or heart functions, thus jolting her back to life. The only way to render her a true death is to remove her brain or heart from the body, as she cannot regenerate either if they are absent to recreate. But as long as their is a spec of brain matter or a fragment of heart within her chest, she can regenerate/heal them both. |
