He was currently locked in the fight of his life. Youthful features, accustomed to benign expressions were instead set in grim determination as he focused with every ounce of his being. He lurched forward as his foe's blistering assault lashed out, too late to dodge it, too late- And it was over.
He let out a frustrated groan as he fell back onto his bed, allowing the controller to slip from his loosened grip. He pointedly avoided looking at the screen that taunted him with the glaring red text; 'YOU DIED'. That was the fifth time h'e died to that boss in the past hour alone! Time for a break, he reckoned. He sighed, eyes drifting to the various posters that adorned his room, most featuring an Initiative hero in some form or another. Some, the precious crown jewels of his hoard, were even signed. His lips began to lift in a smile as he started to reminisce about meeting his heroes in person, only for him to bolt upright, focusing intently as his superhuman senses detected something wrong. Screams of pain and fear, and irregular movement in the tectonic plates on the other side of the world; Earthquake. A bad one.
People were in trouble, and a lot of them would get hurt, or worse, if he didn't try to do something. Taking enough time only to call down to his mother, "Mom, I'm going to Australia, there's an Earthquake!", he was halfway out the window when she responded, "Okay honey, be careful!" With that, he was away, moving faster than even most superhuman eyes could follow, speeding across the globe to arrive in Australia in less than a second. He came to an abrupt stop, a young boy in shorts and a blue hoodie suspended in the air above Sydney, eyes wide as he took in the growing destruction.
Cars had crashed and plowed into other vehicles, people and places, and he could see the structures weakening even as he watched. There was so much danger, and the earthquake had only just began, and there were so many screams. He took a deep, steadying breath, and focused. There was no time to freak out. He moved with impossible speed, flickering about the streets and removing cars and people from the more immediately dangerous places to somewhere safer, a blur that streaked back and forth, over and over.
