Even when it seems hopeless [attr="class","bigboy"] "Breaking News: dimensional rift opens in Justice Square...ten injured, thousands in damage....jeez, it's already in the papers huh...?", Brandon mumbled to himself. That...wasn't quite good. He knew that yesterday would cause quite a stir, but yikes. All because of his mother's machine...that thought caused his mind to drift back to his home. Sure it was a quiet home, and his mother and him never had much time for bonding but..
It was still his home. His world. With this thought, Brandon's determination was set. He had to get back home somehow. But the question was, how was he going to avoid the cops? Clearly he was on a wanted list of some kind, and if that woman from yesterday was anything to go by, clearly other people with powers existed here. As for himself...
What DID Brandon do? How the hell did he make a ball of pure energy appear out of the ether? Did Brandon have more powers? Was this his limit?
Ugh...speculating wasn't going to get him anywhere, for now his goal was to lay low until the heat that had been placed on him was low. Which...given the damage to this "Justice Square", that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

night was quickly approaching in old town, and zoya was on a mission. she slunk through alleyways, eyes peeled for her next target. it wasn't any official bidding, no, because she didn't operate under anyone but herself. there were heroes here -- they were everywhere -- and they weren't too hard to find if you knew where to look.
she readjusted the bandanna around her nose, taking care not to make a noise. this wouldn't work if she didn't have the element of surprise, after all. and suddenly, a feeling at the back of her head made her stop for a moment. yes, it was a strong feeling. someone with powers was nearby.
creeping around the corner, she spotted a boy crouching down, reading a newspaper. the feeling was definitely coming from him, but he certainly didn't look like a threat.
"hey," she called out, unafraid of what the consequences might be if he was dangerous. "what are you doing all the way out here?"

Even when it seems hopeless [attr="class","bigboy"] The voice caused Brandon to jump slightly, bringing him from careful comtemplation to panic. He couldn't afford to be seen. Of course, she hadn't exactly called out his name, so maybe there was a chance she had no idea about what had happened in Justice Square. Plus the allyway Brandon was in only had one way out. And that was through her. No other way out then to confront this new character.
"Me? Um...well, would you believe me if I said I was lost...?", Brandon sighed, the stress of the day and previous day showing on his face. If he could look in a mirror, then the bags under his eyes would be painfully obvious, along with the slight tear in his jacket upon trying to flee from Thalia.
It really didn't help Brandon that he had no contacts or friends to rely on, but if he could keep his calm, be nice and all that, maybe....maybe this girl could help him out. She didn't sound that much older then him in any case, so it was worth a shot. [attr="class","infocenter"] KNOCKOUT | Don't stress yerself over it, I can work with it! he sure was jumpy, and he sounded a bit...afraid? that wasn't quite the right word, but zoya couldn't put her finger on it. still, this person was...intriguing.
she could tell he had powers -- what kind, she didn't know, nor did she realize how strong he was -- but he certainly didn't seem to be much of...anyone. he definitely wasn't an initiative hero, that's for sure, and if he was a vigilante or a villain he certainly wasn't a good one.
that meant he probably wasn't too much of a threat, so zoya let her guard down just a bit.
"lost?" she repeated, cocking her head. actually, zoya was starting to feel bad for him. if he was a superpowered person running around on his own, the initiative was probably already zoning in on him. it wasn't in her nature to be charitable to anyone but herself, really, but she couldn't let this kid get scooped up by the hell that was the initiative.
"well, do you need help then?" she asked pointedly, that bronx accent that she tried hard to rein back slipping out.

Even when it seems hopeless [attr="class","bigboy"] Would it be wise to tell her everything that happened? This world was already plenty batshit as is, so maybe it may come off as another day to her. "Not unless you can send me back to my dimension miss.", Brandon stated plainly, having grown numb to the concept of other dimensions at this point. Obviously it wouldn't do well to just leave her in the dust like that with no explanation, so he continued.
"My name is Brandon Ackerman, and I don't belong here. I come from a reality that doesn't have heroes, villains or anything like that. I used to be a pretty normal kid. That's when my physicist of a mom had an idea to use a machine to see into the unknown, the Void I guess you can call it. I was her guinea pig.", he began his story, a downward gaze overtaking his eyes as he mentioned his mother. Not exactly a happy topic t'would seem.
"The machine freaked out, and just...exploded I guess, I have no idea what really happened. All I remember is the shaking and then darkness. Just...a bottomless darkness. Quite literally nothing existed there. I don't know if this machine just ended up destroying my reality and kicked me into this one or if I just fell into a dimensional crack, but for days, weeks, maybe even months, I was stuck within that space...and then I came out."
"Did you hear about a massive explosion in Justice Square the other day? That was me exiting the Void, or maybe it kicked me out. Either way, it was a mess. Then this woman with long pink hair comes up to me, after some banter says she has to "take me in" and well, guess I'm on the run now.", Brandon finished, looking outright defeated. So much for optimism. It's funny really, you can get up, talk a big game and THINK you have a plan, and then the day goes bye and realize just how horrible your day is.
That was Brandon's thought process as of this moment. [attr="class","infocenter"] KNOCKOUT | After some delay, here you go! Hopefully it's better then Mighty No. 9. :^) [attr="class","bottomlyrics"]and finding happiness even in a world that hates it [attr="class","blue2"] [attr="class","blue"]
