Oh gosh this poor sweet darling was even taking that serious. The request for him to roll in his sheets though honestly all he meant by it was that he wanted Jakob sleeping next to him and that was suffice enough to get his sheets smelling like him again. He didn't actually require him to roll. He was just being silly though of course, like any other fifty fifty coin toss with his lover, Jakob took it on the more serious note rather than playful. "You are adorable." Was all he had to say about it as he picked up his chop sticks and then popped a piece of sushi in his mouth, humming softly, pleased with his own hard work in cooking their meal.
He had made plenty though, he always made sure Jakob had more than enough for himself and of course was still enough for himself. Lonny didn't eat huge meals honestly but if there was one thing he could stuff himself silly on it was sushi. So when we say he made a platter full, we mean he made a platter full and he fully intended on eating his fill along with Jakob. After his first bite he popped a piece of ginger into his mouth, chewing slowly as he glanced at Jakob and smiled as he seemed to enjoy it too. It made him happy, even in the silence of a shared meal, it made him happy knowing he had done something good for Jakob.
At the question Lonny licked his lips and reached for his tea with his free hand, a small smile curling at his lips. "I'm not sure." He was much in the same boat as Jakob, and Lonny didn't have the money for fancy things...even if Jakob did. He didn't much like using up Jakob's hard earned money though. It didn't feel right to him. Not all the time anyway. They took turns paying for dinners and such like and got each other gifts but that was as much as Lonny had allowed thus far. He didn't know if that was horrible either. He just...he didn't want people to think he was mooching. Just another bad looking though should someone find out they were together.
He glanced down as Jakob tugged at his shirt, smiling another soft smile at the kiss. "You're welcome. I like cooking. I like cooking for you." He added before his smile widened. "I'm happy you like it though." He added, reaching for another piece of sushi. "Do you want to go out of town maybe?"

Of course it couldn't be helped. Jakob was Jakob and his personality was unique in that way. It was perhaps the environment in which he grew up in, everything having been so serious and not much room for jokes. It made him more literal, but being around Lonny he did learn to mess around. He had been serious about rolling in his sheets though, tangling up in them with Lonny. He wouldn't mind that one bit honestly.
As far as their oh so special occasion, he couldn't think of anything after he'd purchased the very thing in his pocket. He didn't celebrate things often. Holidays, birthdays, little things that most people would have, he didn't experience them as much. An occasion like this however, Jakob knew that it meant a lot to the both of them. He was aware of Lonny's history, it didn't bother him in the least, but he wanted this to be all the more memorable for the both of them.
Jakob pulled away in time to see his lovers smile. It did such lovely things to his heart seeing him like that. He tilted his head, wondering if by his question he meant he'd allow Jakob to actually spend money on him. Little did he know he'd already spent quite a bit, but he wasn't oppose to spending more. "Like a vacation?" He inquired in turn, picking up his chopsticks once more to return to eating contently. "I've never been on a vacation." Already he considered different places he'd heard of that were popular, or that he knew people did visit.
"Maybe Italy. I've never been..or France." He also knew that it was a popular location for artist and those with such interests. It wasn't a coincidence, his mentioning. "I could help you pack. It's probably really hot there this time of the year though." He sighed, Jakob usually didn't mind the heat, but too hot was quite unpleasant. He didn't think he looked as good as Lonny did in a fedora.

Lonny hoped Jakob wasn't disappointed. It wasn't like their anniversary meant nothing to Lonny. Oh, it meant so much to the blonde that Jakob even wanted to be with him that long. As always, just who knew as to how much longer he could ever keep him? So it was something that very much made him feel warm. Warmth and happiness. Only Jakob had ever made him feel such complete happiness before. He just wasn't sure where to go. He had only asked for the weekend off because he had thought that would be more than enough time to be able to be alone with each other for their anniversary. Well, should Jakob's responsibilities not butt in. He could hardly get mad about that thought. There had been more than a few times already that they had to take rainchecks on things when ever the initiative came calling to Jakob. It was apart of being with a hero after all.
Setting his tea cup back down, the shorter blonde nodded at Jakob's question. "Kind of." Lonny answered, allowing his free hand to fall to Jakob's high just above his knee--thankful should Jakob be since his hand was far from his little secret--and squeezed it gently as he selected another piece of sushi. He glanced back over at his handsome hero as he admitted to never having a vacation, chewing on his bite before he licked his lips. "I haven't really either." He said thinking back. Honestly he had just been working so hard since he left the orphanage, trying to save money for the things he wanted to do in life.
Shaking his head from his thoughts, he opened his mouth to remind Jakob that he only had the weekend but before he could, Jakob got very carried away...which had been why Lonny wanted to say something before he did. The mentioning of Italy or France had him swooning mentally a moment. Jakob knew those were places on his list of things to see, places to travel to. There really wasn't much that Lonny hadn't shared with Jakob by now. It made him adore him even more to even suggest it...though yes it would be a pretty penny and they did only have a weekend. "Jakob, you know I'd love to, but we only have the weekend. I only asked for the weekend. I am sorry." He said with a small frown. He still had bills to make and all, taking a week off would be a bit hard.

Jakob placed another roll in his mouth, chewing with his chopsticks to his lips while he remained in thought. He had considered a place they could go to celebrate before this, but he still hadn't yet really decided where. He thought that just by mentioning it Lonny would pick on his own, since Jakob wasn't the most decisive of the two, but he'd also been prepared for the blonde to say no altogether.
He knew that Lonny didn't take much time off work. Even if Jakob was more of a culprit of being called in while they were together than his boyfriend, he felt that too was all the more reason to try and get away for a little while. Jakob knew that if he stayed near Kingsport they might try to call him in still, even if being with Lonny felt more important to him than preventing some bothersome villian from destroying the city. There were tons of heroes in town, many of them far more capable than he was. Others could handle it while he was gone.
He looked down at his plate as the boy's hand rested on his thigh, ever so nervous still that he might take notice to things he still wasn't ready to share. After a moment of mild tenseness he calmed though, as Lonny's words gave him more reason to call his attention to them. He finished the food in his mouth, though his chopsticks still remained against his lips as he looked at him. Even if he only had the weekened...
"We can still go." He replied, setting his utensils down slowly. Despite himself, he was going to be persistent about this. A couple days might not be long, but he could ask a favor, get the Initiative to let him lease a jet or some sort of aircraft to get them to Europe. It was little notice but he'd thought about it before hand as well.
"I want to take you somewhere special." Jakob continued after a moment of pause. He looked down at the boys hand, placing his atop it to hold affectionately. When was the right time? Now? For someone who fought terrible, bad people, he was more nervous about this very moment then he'd ever been while in the middle of a fight.

They were both rather indecisive at times though perhaps Lonny was a bit better at giving direction or keeping to a schedule than Jakob. Still though, he was never too sure as to where to go that wasn't you know....out there out there int he world. He had a whole list of places and things he wanted to see, how much time he wanted to spend in each part of the world. He had lists of books he wanted to read to be ready for it, things he wanted to try to embrace people's cultures. But a date? Now that was a terribly hard thing to decide. How silly.
Honestly though, he'd be happy with just something simple. It really didn't take much to make Lonny happy. Just that Jakob put thought into something made it special to the shorter man. Thought was what counted to him, and again, he so loved that Jakob thought to take him somewhere that was so high on his list but he wasn't a hero being paid all the nice bits of money to risk himself. Lonny...Lonny had abilities yes. Ones that perhaps with practice, could be rather helpful but doing something so great with them was not in the cards for him. He didn't much like his abilities. Some days, he was in love with them, then he would remember what the sister would say about such things and automatically he'd feel sick. Never though did he feel this way towards others. It was purely narrowed to just himself.
Besides fighting villians? He could hardly picture himself doing it. He had other things he wanted to do with his life. He was proud of Jakob yes. So proud. But not everyone was meant to do it. That said, he needed to keep to his much less paying job to keep his bills paid so he didn't loose his home. He'd be heart broken if he did. He honestly loved his little loft even if he knew that he wouldn't be here forever. He smiled though, as Jakob settled his hand on top of his, blue eyes looking back to his lover before his smile faltered some as Jakob insisted they go, he wanted it to be special he said and Lonny couldn't help melting all the more. "I love you Jakob." He murmured, leaning in to press a soft kiss to a corner of his lips. "Whatever we do is special to me though, we don't have to go to France. I just love being with you."

Jakob worried for Lonny too often in his spare time when he was away. The thought of him doing the things he did never crossed his mind. He wouldn't want him to be a part of something like that, not for any other reason but the sheer fact that something could happen to his boyfriend and he didn't know what he'd do if something ever did. Lonny meant so much to him. He already introduced danger into his life just by being his boyfriend.
Realizing that, knowing that it was true, it made Jakob falter in the back of his mind. He might want to leave to escape the mess of the city for a little while, but there was nothing he could do to prevent other dangers anywhere else. Despite the fact that he knew he would protect him with all of his being, if always being with him was what caused the blonde more danger...
He heard those three words, felt Lonny's kiss to the corner of his mouth, and his eyes lifted to him. Conflicted, he was always so damn indecisive, and deep down he hated that part of himself. It wasn't brave. He was supposed to be a hero, but he didn't really think he was very brave. Lonny's last words however, they gave him much strength, a sort of confidence in himself that had faltered a moment prior.
"I love being with you." He affirmed right back as well. He couldn't think of anyone else making him feel the things Lonny made him feel. He lowered his eyes to their hands once more, staring at them, his thumb caressing the back of his lovers. That was it. Jakob turned toward his boyfriend, sliding off of his bar stool to stand. "I love you, Lonny." Jakob murmured, and lifted his eyes to the blonde before leaning in to give him a lingering kiss. Those three words hadn't meant anything to him before he'd met this man. He wanted to hold onto that feeling, keep him.
Jakob parted from Lonny, looking down to release his hand and take a small step away from their seats. He stood there a moment, unsure of his posture and how he was supposed to stand. Like in the movies, he remembered one knee, Jakob pulled the box from his pocket and slowly knelt down on his left knee. He didn't know what exactly he was supposed to say, or how he was supposed to present the box or the ring. He raised the box in his right hand, cleared his throat, and just went with the first thing to mind. "Will you marry me?" Then...maybe he was supposed to open the box? Jakob lowered his hand to fuss with it until it popped open, and displayed it for Lonny again, hoping that he'd done this right.

Lonny had survived thus long and he had only known Jakob a year and some change...being that he was a bit wary to start dating someone so kind, far too good for him to begin with. He knew basics on how to protect himself. You bet your ass he had a pocket knife and a little thing of mace on his keys...and he practiced enough with his abilities to defend himself with that too. Just enough to get away. Perhaps he was being a bit naive. Jakob of course, was the expect when it came to the dangerous of having a target on your back, but Lonny made sure to be extra careful just in case it leaked that they were an item and someone decided to get at the oh so dashing hero by gunning for his lover.
He didn't want to make Jakob feel bad, the world was dangerous. Just deciding to take a step outside his apartment could be a life altering decision. Jakob could hardly be the cause of everything that could possibly happen to him. He could feel the conflict roll off of him. He didn't need to be a mind reader and yes Jakob wasn't the most expressive but it was all in his eyes. Lonny leaned back some to peer at him a moment, tilting his head and wondered what was going on behind that pretty face of his...and wondered even more if he should ask. He squeezed his hand instead, smiling lightly as he felt Jakob's thumb caress his skin, the words that left Jakob's lips next making his smile blossom. Hearing that he enjoyed their time together, that Jakob loved him, was seriously a powerful thing to Lonny.
As Jakob slid from his stool, Lonny tipped his head up some upon realizing he was going to kiss him, and happily returned it, the hand Jakob let go of raising to cup at the side of his face. This human being was simply too much, he thought, was the only thing he could think of as they kissed. Too too much and far too good for him but god he was terribly fucking greedy, would continue to be fo as fucking long as he could. His blue eyes opened, hand falling softly back to his lap once Jakob broke the kiss and stepped away. Lonny just figured maybe he had finished his tea and was going to get more, or needed to use the rest room and with that, he looked back to his plate, smiling softly to himself. The moment he realized he had not heard his foot steps wander, or see Jakob moving in his peripherals, he frowned a bit and looked back in time to see Jakob dropping to his left knee.
At first, the most confused sort of expression caught at his face. His blond brows knitting together and his lips parted, about to ask what he was doing when Jakob revealed a box, then asked the question some people would absolutely die to hear coming from the one that made their heart speed in such a way. And such a way it did speed. Sputtered into speeding really as Lonny simply stared dumbfounded at the little black velvet box and the--so gorgeous--ring inside it. His blue eyes shifted form the ring to Jakob and back....then to the ring and Jakob and back again before he turned his head slightly as if still trying to process it all. "You....you want to marry me?" He asked slowly, still processing despite the tears that started to blur his vision. He knew this was terribly unmanly. God he was really not the most masculine one in the bunch to begin with but this was even more embarrassing to find himself crying but he couldn't help it. And it wasn't exactly bad tears though!!
He sniffled, hands raising to rub at his now wet lashes before he slid off his stool and lowered his hands, carefully he took the box from Jakob's waiting hold and knelt to his own knees to wrap his arms firmly around Jakob's shoulders. His fedora falling off his blond head as he leaned in and nuzzled his face int Jakob's neck. "I can't believe you want to marry me." He whispered softly before a soft bubble of laughter left his lips just as he pressed them to Jakob's neck. "I love you. I love you so much."

He kept Lonny in his eyes, holding his on him as he watched the blonde looking from the ring to him frequently in his obvious confusion. Jakob wondered to himself if he should have worded his question better, but he didn't know how else to come out with it other than being blunt as he was. He wasn't all that good with words, or fancy speechless. He loved Lonny, he wanted to be with him for years to come, and he wanted him to know that most of all.
He tilted his head as he watched his lover look away however. Jakob slightly lowering his presenting hand as he watched his partners expression unfold, transform as his emotions started to bubble to the surface of his features. He didn't expect tears. It took him off guard, reflexively hoping that he hadn't presented all of this the wrong way or at the wrong time. Was he supposed to cry too maybe? He didn't know. He sort of just felt really nervous, like he was going to have a heart attack.
"Yes." He confirmed, even if Lonny's question to him was more rhetorical than not. He simply wanted him to know. This was real, he was completely throwing himself out there to potentially be rejected, but that was okay because Lonny deserved to know how much he really did care for him. This was how much he wanted to be with him. He wanted to extend their relationship to marriage.
He thought to stand, do something to comfort his boyfriend as he began to feel a little guilty for his crying, but before he could attempt it Lonny was sinking to the floor with him. He watched him carefully, with hinted concern as Lonny accepted the box, and wrapped his arms around him shortly after. Jakob felt his fedora brush against his shoulder before it fell off Lonny's head, but with the blonde nuzzling his features to his neck he could only pull him closer as he'd let his other knee down to the floor too.
His laughter made Jakob blink, surprised by that too, but oh did he love the sound. He carded his fingers through the boy's hair gently, caressing his back in a soothing sort of way. As Lonny told him he loved him, it broke his surprised look and he managed a small smile. It made him happy hearing that, it didn't matter how many times. "I want to keep you." He admitted quietly. It was greedy of him, he knew, but he loved him so much he didn't want to be with anyone else. "...is that a yes?" Still wanting some form of confirmation on his end, Jakob was equally teasing his lover at the same time. It seemed like it was, but it didn't hurt to make sure.

Either way he worded it, Lonny's brain was bound to seize up as it were. He never in is life thought he would actually get this. This right here someone too perfect down on a knee with the prettiest fucking ring ever, asking him to marry him and honestly he really really hoped he meant it despite how fucking selfish it was because he hardly deserved it. Lonny had come a long way since they first met, he was a lot happier, more sound of mind, but he still believed with everything he was, that Jakob was too good for him. Far too good but here he was wanting him and marriage was such a serious thing. At least for Lonny, it was very serious.
He didn't mean to make him worry, he'd feel bad for that later. It was perfect, so perfect Jakob was perfect. See? He didn't need fancy or public for Lonny to feel such overflowing feelings of utter adoration and care. He just needed Jakob being just as he was supposed to, uncertain and awkward other wise he didn't care because it was Jakob. He so adorably socially awkward boyfriend wanted to marry him and that was all he needed. Asking him in his home was perfect. The way he did it was perfect. He couldn't stop replying it in his head now that Jakob had his arms around him. One hand so sweetly threading through his hair, the other caressing his back with care.
The blond peppered soft kisses to Jakob's neck, fingers curled into the material of the man's shirt as he tried to gather himself together, unable to help the soft but now frequent bubbles of random happy laughter coupled with his continued words of " i love you i love you," between those soft kisses. His heart melting if it could even melt further, as Jakob said he wanted to keep him. His tears dampening the other blonde's neck as he took in a deep breath, face nuzzling while he did so. Slowly he got himself into some sort of control, and let go of Jakob to sit his bottom back on his feet, his face sliding to rest his cheek against Jakob's shoulder as he opened his hand holding the box and flipped it open to stare at the ring Jakob had picked for him. "I love you so much." was all he could whisper softly at his boyfriend's teasing question, cheek nuzzling against Jakob's shoulder.

He supposed no matter how he might have planned this out, the reaction he got from Lonny was still quite positive. Despite his crying, and Jakob's brief worry, it was a relief to hear him laugh. The peppered kisses he received to his neck making him tilt his head to permit more while his boyfriend slowly pulled himself together. He was cute, how he was reduced to saying that he loved him over and over like that. It send warm butterflies through his stomach, affecting his heart as it still beat heavy in his chest less from nerves but from how happy hearing Lonny say those words made him feel.
He didn't mind at all that Lonny's tears had dampened his skin, so long as he was happy. He rubbed his back slowly still, comforting his tears even if they were happy. He secretly loved the feel of his nose on his neck, lips kissing him even though his boyfriend cried against him. It just made him so happy that he hadn't dismissed him, that he hadn't said no.
As he felt Lonny lift his features from his shoulder, he slowly let him out of his hold, keeping a hand on the boy's shoulder however. He delicately brushed tears off Lonny's cheek until he rested it on his shoulder once more. Jakob grinned at that, and looked down at the box as Lonny opened his hand to show it. "I'll always love you." He admitted in return, gently reaching for the box in Lonny's hand to pull out the ring for him.
After it was free from the box Jakob took Lonny's left hand just as delicately, and placed the ring on the finger it was wrap around. "Hmm.." He hummed to himself, "It seems a little big." He thought for sure he'd told the woman the right size, but maybe he'd gotten it wrong by accident. That was a shame. He hoped that wasn't a disappointment to Lonny, that they might have to go back and get it resized. "We can get it fixed..I know girls usually wear these rings, but when I asked the jewelry woman she said that this one would fit a man just the same." Alas, he just wanted Lonny to like it. It was a representation of his feelings after all and even though he knew it was a bit sentimental and ridiculous Jakob wanted to participate in normal things like this too. He'd put a lot of thought into it.

Lonny couldn't help the tears. He was just...he was feeling far too much at the moment. Overwhelmed for sure, but yes, mostly happy, very happy. He still couldn't quite believe it. Like at any moment he was going to wake up and Jakob wouldn't even be here yet and god he didn't want that. He huddled as close as he could get to Jakob at the thought. But no. The tears he could not help and he would be sorry to worry Jakob with them but he just really, truly, could not help it. The sweetest man Lonny had ever met just asked him to marry him. Marry him. Him of all people Lonny Gold the total fucking mistake in life. He wanted to marry him. He knew if ever he and Jakob went their separate ways it would break him. But now? Oh god. He just couldn't. He hoped he would never lose him. He hoped Jakob wouldn't change his mind. But then to be destroyed in such a way was far more of what he deserved wasn't it? With all the happiness he had destroyed for people.
He forced such thoughts away because he couldn't ruin this for Jakob. This wasn't all about him, this was important to Jakob too. This was a moment that would forever be in their minds and Lonny wanted to try and make it a good memory. He was trying so hard to pull it together to make it a good memory and hoped he hadn't fucked it up already with how much a mess he was. He stole a look up at him while Jakob wiped at his tears so carefully. He was always so careful with him he swore he broke his heart sometimes just how good Jakob was to him. He didn't look upset though, perhaps a bit concerned but there was remnants of a smile so he supposed that was good yes?
"Promise?" So lame, he knew god so lame he was lame, sounding like a lost little child who was being welcomed home for the first time with that one little word as Jakob told him he'd always love him. He needed it so badly, never deserving it, but he needed it and he wanted it from Jakob. He wanted to keep him all for himself and tell everyone else to fuck off because this too good boy was his and fuck them if they thought they could take him away. Fuck them all. He blinked, holding the box still as Jakob reached to take the ring from it, and allowed him to take his left hand after to slip the silver band of diamonds onto his ring finger. His heart pounding so fast in his chest.
He almost panicked as Jakob said it looked big, and Lonny curled his fingers into a fist so he couldn't take it off. He wanted to keep it and he knew that was silly but he wanted to keep it on at least for a little bit. "I have skinny fingers." He muttered, cheek pressing a little more against Jakob's shoulder. "I want to wear it...for a little bit. I promise I won't lose it." He assured, tipping his head up to look up at Jakob before he uncurled his left hand and raised it to cup the back of Jakob's head and leaned up as he pressed a kiss to his lips. "I love you so much." He murmured once more, sounding like a god damn broken record but god, he did. He loved him so much.

He'd do anything he could to dissuade Lonny from thinking such negative things, especially at a time like this. He only wanted for him to be happy. It was why he decided to propose, why he cared for him so much. Jakob wanted his boyfriend to have the best of things, because he deserved happiness. If he didn't then neither did Jakob. Having parents that were as awful as his, having once lived around really terrible people, he knew what sin was like. Lonny was no sin to this world.
"Of course." He replied, having no issue at all affirming a promise, letting his boyfriend know just how much he meant to him. "I promise." It wasn't just Lonny that felt he needed Jakob either. He knew that he couldn't live without this boy. He gave him genuine confidence to make his own choices, let him know that he shouldn't be so afraid of turning into some villain like his parents. For Lonny to even give someone like him a chance, that meant something.
He wouldn't have taken it off if Lonny wanted to keep it on. Despite the size, it made his heart pound in his chest seeing it on his boyfriend. Fiance...he was his fiance now. The mere thought made him nervous again, excited, overwhelmingly happy. This was happening, it was real, and Lonny wanted to keep him too. "I like your hands." He sighed, just wishing he'd done this right the first time.
He lifted his eyes to meet with Lonny's though, as the boy lifted his head to look at him. He didn't think Lonny would lose it, but he trusted him regardless. Nodding in agreement, soothed by the feel of his hand coming to rest against his shorter locks at the back of his head, Jakob leaned into that kiss too. Hearing Lonny say those words, they didn't lose their meaning once. "I was nervous you'd say no." He admitted a bit shyly albeit. It made him feel guilty, to think that Lonny might reject him over this, but oh so happy that he hadn't.
"I love you Lonny," He murmured, resting his forehead oh his lovers. "I want to let people know about us. I don't want you to think you have to keep our relationship secret anymore."

Lonny did terrible things on his own selfish accord but Jakob? He had parents who did terrible things. That did not make them alike at all. At least not to Lonny. Jakob wasn't a villain because he was too good a person for that, simple and clear. Lonny was a horrible person just because he was a horrible person. There for if anyone deserved happiness it was Jakob, not Lonny. You'd never convince him other wise. He got better at not being so loud about his disgust with himself, but it was still very much there. He was just doing his best to not let it get to him right now because it didn't deserve to be ruined for Jakob above all else.
He nuzzled against Jakob once more as the boy said he promised. It was so terribly childish, and he knew that it might not even be a promise that Jakob could live up to. People fell out of love sometimes. It was just how things were sometimes but he really really hoped it wouldn't happen with them. But then no one ever really wanted to fall out of love do they? No. For now though, it soothed him, or rather he allowed it to sooth him or allowed himself to think it was some great band-aid that protected against all fractures that could happen. With that band-aid like promise, he pushed the thoughts away.
A small smile curled at pale pink lips as Jakob muttered about liking his hands. He was so darling, he really was. Lonny wasn't really talking poorly of his hands, they were hands and creative as fuck usually covered in splatters of paint. He had no problems with them but it was just sort of cute to the blonde man how Jakob sounded as if he was trying to defend them against Lonny's own comment. Whether that was the case or not, it was still cute and he nuzzled his cheek at him for it before he tipped his head up to kiss his boyfriend, murmur again just how deeply he cared for him.
He enjoyed the press of Jakob leaning into the kiss he gave him. So many times they had kissed now over the course of their relationship, yet the feel of it never lost its luster. He loved the sweetness of it, he loved how that sweetness could turn into passion so easily between them too. He loved kissing Jakob. He remained close as he broke the kiss, affections murmured and what he got in return had him a bit shocked though he smiled, pressing another brief kiss to his lover's lips. "You are a dream Jakob. I could never say no to you wanting to spend you life with me." He said softly, his hand leaving Jakob's hair to caress along his cheek, heart fluttering as Jakob told him he loved him, and he relished in the simple closeness as Jakob rested his forehead against his own.
What he said next though, had Lonny's heart race in a bit of a panicked sort of way than something out of sweet words. And oh they were so sweet but Lonny honestly hated the thought of people using him to bring Jakob down. That was all going public would do to him. He just knew it. That was the way the world was. Cold and cruel and nosy. "Love, I keep it under wraps because I know what the world will say about me, and I don't want to make you look bad. I know you love me. That is more than enough for me. That is more than I could ever ask for. I just....Jakob I hate the idea that I could make you look bad."

He might be naive in that respect, that he didn't think much about how either of them might change together. The thought that they might grow distant between one another one day never even crossed his mind. To Jakob he simply couldn't imagine it as a real possibility. He was honest, and he wasn't blindly hopeful for things that he didn't believe had rational reasons to back up those feelings. What he had with Lonny was real to him, and he didn't think that he could ever have negative feelings toward him. Never.
He enjoyed Lonny's smiles, the feel of his lips against his, the way his hand gently touched his cheek. He disliked it however, when his boyfriend thought ill things of himself. It was a flaw of Lonny's that he had known for awhile since they'd been together, but Jakob had his flaws too, and he was always willing to help his boyfriend look past them. He was worth so much more than he thought of himself. He was priceless to the blonde.
That being said, he knew that Lonny might dislike the idea of going public because of himself and not just the danger it might impose on either of them. He just didn't like hiding such things, feeling the need to keep it from the public as if he were scared. Jakob had never been scared of what other's thought of him. His records were made public after all, anyone could go into his files and know his past. To hear that Lonny thought that people might judge him for being with him, that was so strange to hear. After everything else, there was no way he'd be judged for being with someone so kind to him.
He frowned so slightly, lifting his lids faintly before he spoke. "You couldn't make me look bad." It hurt him knowing that was what Lonny was worried about, but only for his concern for his boyfriend. He was too hard on himself, and all he could do is comfort him. "You already know my parents were villains. What's worse than being with someone who's closest relatives killed people?" Jakob hadn't been so innocent either. He'd hurt people too, with the influence and encouragement of his parents, when his powers had begun to blossom as he grew older.
He sighed gently as negative memories played in the back of his mind before he closed his eyes and grazed his nose against Lonny's. "I know you think negatively of yourself, but if anything I'll be the one to make you look bad." If it really bothered him that much, he didn't want to hide these things from people anymore, but Jakob would try not to say anything for Lonny's sake. "If it bothers you...If you're afraid, I won't say anything."

Lonny knew Jakob had a past, he knew he had his flaws as Lonny had his own, and he loved that Jakob could love him with his flaws...even if he thought Jakob just didn't see them enough. But those were Lonny's hang ups and maybe Lonny was the same. He knew of Jakob's history or at least as much as he was willing to tell him and Lonny had a feeling there might be more but he wasn't going to press for anything Jakob didn't want to give. Point being perhaps they both loved each other so much so that they could look past those things because honest to god Lonny could sing on how fucking wonderful Jakob was any time of the day given the chance.
Either way, it was what Lonny feared. Lonny could be a good person, he could. But he had horrible horrible fucking aspects of himself and before Jakob had gotten to him he did horrible fucking things and just....so many horrible things. Jakob already had a past. He didn't want to be another thing dragged out for people to think "oh here he is, making more bad decisions in life, go figure with where he came from." He'd hate to see it. He really did. He'd hate to make Jakob's name even more of a shame as some people saw it....though any time someone had shit to say about Gravity Rush Lonny was on their asses like white on rice to correct them. Best believe it. Lonny did not take anyone's shit if they wanted to talk bad about his sweetheart.
He knew he was hurting Jakob, you didn't have to be a mind reader with that one, by saying these things. He hated that too but he was just--was he being ridiculous? He didn't know anymore at this point, being so scared of ruining everything for Jakob. He just cared about him. He cared so much about him and how people saw Jakob and he was such a good person and he hated the thought of people thinking poorly of him. It hurt Lonny, hurt him and made him angry like nothing else when people said bad things about Jakob. It hurt his heart as Jakob spoke of his parents and as he did Lonny brushed his thumb so softly against his cheek. He didn't know about the things Jakob had done, he had not told him, but Lonny knew in the core of his being that Jakob wasn't bad. He just knew.
"That isn't you though." He murmured softly, feeling Jakob's breath exhaled softly against his face, eyes closing briefly as Jakob's nose caressed tenderly against his own. "You are everything to me Jakob." Another caress to his cheek, "I can't presume to know what they will say, but I don't think the focus will be one me. I'm a no one. You are the someone here. You've come so far. I just...I just want people to see you for the good person you are. I don't want to ruin any of that." He sighed softly, thumb brush along Jakob's lower lip. "If...if you want to tell people, you can. Just...don't hate me. When things come out. Please don't hate me."
