Anyone that knew Jakob, or at least was aware of him, knew that he wasn't one for talking much. He didn't open up to many people, kept mostly to himself unless it was required of him to be more social for a job. It just wasn't his style or personality to be super outgoing, but with Lonny he didn't feel the pressure to talk if he didn't want to, say anything he might not wish to. That meant a lot to him. He really did enjoy talking to someone for once, without feeling as if he were being judged for the people he came from.
So he'd been thinking, and thinking...and thinking. Why wouldn't he want to keep that happiness for a while? Better yet, why wouldn't he was to make it so that he could do anything in his power to make Lonny happy for years to come? He deserved it. He was a good person no matter what he said or thought about himself. His boyfriend, sweet and kind. Sometimes he feared that any moment something awful might happen to either of them, or both, then all of this thinking would have been for nothing. He didn't want that to happen of course, bad things, but he wanted to be there to protect him all ways.
He had set up this meeting a few days prior over the phone. He'd been so busy with work lately it had been driving him nuts to get back to his boyfriend, but Lonny had been so encouraging the whole time. He knew that he loved him, and there was no doubt in his mind. After telling him straight before he had left, Jakob knew that he couldn't simply ignore the rest of his feelings and thoughts until they went away, because they weren't just going away.
He had a bouquet of roses in his hands. Perhaps the most cliche act he could have done, but he'd seen it in movies and such, and it seemed like a nice gesture. Of course, he had no idea if Lonny would actually like them but it was worth trying. After staring down at them in front of the boy's door for what felt like hours, but was likely only a couple of minutes, Jakob rang his partners door bell and waited patiently outside to be let in.

Lonny had been rather excited about getting his own place a few years back. He had books upon books of things he he wanted to try to make, hell he had off of it color coded and tabbed so when he first started to get cooking for himself he had been ever so pleased. This past year though, he had to say, had been all the more rewarding. Cooking for yourself was one thing, at least it felt that way to Lonny, but cooking for someone special just made it all the more rewarding. Every time he made something new or tried to make something Jakob mentioned he liked or wanted to try, he had always been ever so nervous about how it might have come out. Adorably domestic, was something Lonny Gold had become and hell he didn't even care about how normal that was. He liked normal. He liked feeling normal.
So to say, when Jakob called him to tell him he would be coming home from work in a few days Lonny had started planning on what to make him. He deserved that and so much more, Lonny thought. A good home made meal. Did we mention already how fucking domestic Lonny was? But yes. Jakob deserved it. Jakob deserved that and far more than Lonny could ever give him but so long as Jakob wanted to be with him Lonny was going to greedily keep him tethered and spoil the shit out of him anyway he could.
He was finishing up a few last rolls he had made, he tried to make more traditional rolls, knowing where Jakob had been born. He tried doing nice things like that for him. He looked over his shoulder when he heard his doorbell ring, fingers sticky with white rice and he quickly dashed over to the sink to wash his hands, a small frown forming at his lips. If it were Jakob he was a bit early than expected, though Lonny would hardly complain. He just hoped Jakob wouldn't mind waiting a few more minutes for dinner.
With his hands dry he quickly made his way across his small apartment, right hand reaching for the door knob while the left unlocked the two locks to the door. As he opened it, he couldn't help but smile at the familiar face waiting outside his door. He quickly glanced down the hall, making sure no one else was there before he leaned in and pressed a kiss to the other boy's chin. "Hello handsome." He greeted happily, gaze dropping to the roses that Jakob had in hand. He tilted his head so slightly before looking back at Jakob, his smile ever so warm and happy, face softening with the utter adoration he had for the boy. "You got me roses." He murmured, reaching to run his fingers over the soft petals. "Our anniversary isn't until next week, silly."

He tilted his head, glancing down the hall. He was nervous still, strange how that felt when he was usually so comfortable around Lonny. This was different though. He was anxious, worried, excited, all kinds of worked their way into him and he realized..what if Lonny said no? It hadn't initially occurred to him, at least not really until now. What would he do if that were the case? Would he be upsetting Lonny by even asking?
When the door opened his cheek turned to it quickly, eyes glancing down at the familiar face of his boyfriend. It cut his deeper nerves in half, because truly there was no one like Lonny. No one could make him feel so at least, comfortable, and understood. "Hi," He managed to mutter, before the blonde had pecked his chin. When he'd notice the roses in his hand Jakob looked down at them too, before looking back up at his boyfriend to gauge his reaction.
"I know. I just saw them while I was out...I thought they were pretty. Do you not like them?" He wasn't sure the woman at the flower stand would take them back, he simply didn't want to inconvenience Lonny, the way he ran his fingers over the petals, it was reassuring. Jakob moved them out from between them enough so he could bend over, tilt his head, and kiss the boy on the cheek. "I missed you." and that smile of course.

Lonny always looked because he had nosy neighbors though thankfully it was just three people up here on the top floor. A door down at the left end of the hall, a door across from him, and then at the right end of the hall were the stairs to the lower level apartments. Lonny had the top for the small loft apartment. It was, admittedly, a bit more expensive seeing as apparently a loft was something special, but Lonny had fell in love with it when he was shown it. It was different then what he had been raised in. The door the the apartment had a small space for taking off your shoes, which lonny had a small shoe rack to the right of the door as well as some hooks for hanging keys and coats, and then that opened up to the living room with the kitchen in the back with an island that acted as his table with the bar stools he had gotten for it. There was a bathroom to the right of all that and to the left there were stairs that led to the loft that was his bed room. Small but he liked it.
The boy himself though, was still wearing a little white apron that read the cliche "kiss the cook," one he had admittedly gotten after he started dating Jakob and bringing him around to his apartment because he was shameless and would promote getting a kiss like nothing else. A white fedora of course tipped on the top of his blond locks, one that had a silk blue sewn into to wrap around the hat. The rest of his outfit consisting of white knit sweater that was a bit baggy and cream colored Capri pants. A thing silver anklet decorated his right leg and of course various colorful bracelets covered his wrists. Lonny had his own style that was for sure, or at least tried to stay looking as stylish as his budget allowed. That and he tried to look nice when ever he knew Jakob would be coming around.
The blond was hardly bothered by Jakob's muttered greeting, he knew the man wasn't much for talking but he always seemed to make up for it in his affection. Affections Lonny soaked up like flowers soaked up the sun. He knew his boyfriend well, he liked to think, and he knew he loved him, even if he didn't much say it. It spoke volumes in the fact that he was still here, it spoke volumes in the care in which he took being around him. Like the flowers, though he hardly had to do it, it was thoughtful. Very thoughtful, so of course when Jakob asked if he liked them, Lonny was quick to nod, "I do. They are beautiful. You are sweet." Lonny murmured, fingers dropping from the petals as Jakob moved them aside so that he could give Lonny a kiss to the cheek. Honestly Lonny had gotten flowers before from lovers who begged him to take them back after you know, they treated him like shit broke it off but needed another itch to scratch. But it was of course, different getting them from Jakob. It wasn't false hopes and dreams, it was real, holding no promise because he already had everything he could ever want. It was simply thoughtful and Lonny loved that. Just that it was thoughtful. He did it because he thought of him.
"I missed you lots." Lonny assured as well, he always missed him when he wasn't around but you know, he knew Jakob's job was important and Lonny couldn't be more proud that this wonderful human being was using his gifts to help others. He was very proud of Jakob, and very flattered that he would want to be, so far, with someone like him. A fucking mess of disgusting even if Jakob was forever insisting other wise. Like said, Jakob was sweet. "You didn't get hurt did you?" Proud, but forever worried other wise, he frowned a bit and started to look Jakob over as if he could see through his clothes to spot any possible bruises, bumps, or cuts.

Of course he thought so much about Lonny. He was everything to him, and now that they were going to be together for a whole year soon, it made him appreciate the blonde all the more. He came from a poor background obviously, and since joining the Initiative everyone was aware of it. He didn't want Lonny to think poorly of him because of it, but not once did he ever feel truly judged by the blonde over it. That was just one of the many things he liked about Lonny.
He grinned at hearing his question, finding it funny despite how serious it could have been. He bit his lower lip to rid it from his features, and straightened himself to look down at the blonde once more. Just the fact that he worried about him enough to be concerned for his health at work, it was sweet, very cute. He on the other hand worried far more about Lonny than he did for himself. He'd been doing this for awhile after all. "I'm fine. It was mostly boring."
He replied, and went to kiss his partner on the lips just to steal at least one kiss from him before he stepped inside. "I still like your apron." He teased in his own way, standing once more and peeking over the blonde shoulder to see that he had food sitting out on the counter in the kitchen. "What are you making?" Jakob asked as he stepped inside with the boy's flowers still held carefully in hand, stepping out of his boots by the door. It smelled like rice, something he quite loved honestly, and like a moth to flame he was already on his way into the kitchen with ebbing curiosity.

Lonny couldn't at all think poorly of Jakob, he was too darling to even begin to even do so. His parents were villains or so Jakob told him and honestly once you go public with the initiative your history sort of became common knowledge. But the Initiative trusted Jakob. If they didn't he wouldn't be in their ranks and Jakob never gave him reason to believe he was lying about who he was. Whoever or however his parents were they obviously created a wonderful boy. Whether that was because Jakob didn't like what his parents did for a living, or because they perhaps weren't black and white evil as people would like you to believe everything was, Lonny didn't know. He just knew that Jakob was an extremely kind person, at least that was his experience with him.
He made a small face at the boy as he caught him grinning over his worry and reached to pinch his side playfully. He had noticed early on that it seemed to please Jakob whenever Lonny worried about him. He couldn't help it though. He didn't know all of what Jakob did, and sometimes he didn't know if he should ask. He didn't know what would be private and what wouldn't and he hardly wanted to put Jakob in an uncomfortable place of not being able to tell him and having to explain that...or possibly have him compromise his work and tell him just because of their relationship. So if Jakob ever wanted to tell him things, he waited for him to mention it. Other wise he asked simple things, how he was, where he was going, if he was going to be okay? And of course, always threatened to kick him if he didn't come back home. It was always the most frightening thought, the thought of someone hurting his so sweet boyfriend. Lonny honestly didn't know what he would do if something happened to Jakob.
"Mmmm. Okay." He said, seeming unconvinced as Jakob kissed him, then watched as his darling stepped inside. Lonny closed the door and watched Jakob walk across the living room after taking off his boots. Blue eyes scanned his stance, trying to see if he was favoring putting his weight on one side than the other though at the moment he saw nothing wrong. Which was a bit relieving. Honestly Lonny wouldn't stop worrying until he was stripping the other boy down for bed....to which Lonny hoped Jakob could stay for. He missed curling up with him when he was gone. "I'm openly greedy and wear it just to prompt kisses." Lonny admitted though honestly it really was common knowledge between the two. Lonny lived off little kisses when ever Jakob was around. After a moment, he followed after the taller man, and searched through his cabinets for a vase, then filled it with water and set it in the center of his island counter and reached for the roses. "Sushi." He answered, taking them carefully from Jakob and placed them just as carefully into the vase. He fluffed them around until they looked nice and full in the vase, then leaned in to give them a smell. It brought another wide smile to his lips before he stood and returned to finishing cutting up the last few rolls he made. "I made home made ice cream mochi too. For dessert."

Jakob was extra careful because he knew well enough that his boyfriend worried. He did the same for the blonde, so after getting used to Lonny's worrying over him he didn't think of it as something he should feel bad for. He did his best to not risk his life. His job required him to take risks of course, put himself on the line for the safety of other's, but no matter what he always tried to play it safer now that he was with Lonny. What would he do if he couldn't see the blonde again? The worst sort of afterlife ever was perhaps none at all.
He had little to hide from Lonny with his profile and basic information public, but there were certain things that he did at work of course that he didn't wish to openly tell Lonny. Oh yes, I had to chase an armed man and he shot at me. Things like that would just make Lonny fear for him even more and he didn't want that. A little worrying was okay, but he'd do whatever it took to make him fear less.
"I like kissing you." He admitted right back. He was definitely staying over, there was no question about that. He had clothes here, things he might need that he would occasionally leave for the next time he stayed, since they'd become a real item. This place, it was practically his home right along Lonny's, though it was his boyfriend who paid for it. If only he could convince his partner that he could take care of more of his expenses.
He turned his eyes to Lonny after he got to the island and stared longingly at the food he'd been making. To think that he would care so much to bother with doing all this by hand. He was the best. Handing over the roses, he watched Lonny place his gift in a vase, before raising his feet off the ground to hover. He'd been doing too much walking lately, not only that but the floor was cold. First world excuses to use his abilities, but why not use what you got?
That smile, he could stare at that for hours, until he mentioned homemade ice cream mochi. "..Really?" He hovered quickly on over to the freezer, opening it with the pull of gravity before he could touch the handle and peeked inside to see for himself. Would it be a crime if he had some now? "You didn't have to make all this by yourself." Although honestly he was dying to eat now. "I could have taken you somewhere."

Jakob had told him he was careful, and Lonny trusted him, but what he didn't trust were the people that he had to go after, people that wouldn't think a second thought about hurting Jakob in a fatal sort of way. He feared over those, he couldn't help that. But he believed in Jakob, he believed in his strengths, his abilities, and took comfort in knowing Jakob knew how to handle himself. So Lonny tried not to overwhelm his lover with his worries too much. He didn't want to make Jakob feel bad or guilty either. It was his job, obviously it was important to Jakob if he was doing it, right? So it was important to Lonny too, and honestly he thought the world of him for being so brave, for embracing his powers and using them for better when Lonny hardly used his own. When he hated that he even had them.
"Mmmm well I should hope so, with all those nice boners you pop for me while doing it." Lonny replied oh so causally thought the smile that curled at his pierced lips was ever so wicked. He chuckled before he followed after his lover. Knowing less was probably for the better...but he wondered at times if it made him a poor partner, not asking more. He didn't know. Dating a super hero, even after almost an entire year of being together, was a rather uncertain thing at times, and it wasn't like there was some sort of club out there for partners left on the side lines while their lovers fought their battles to talk to. Or a book to read. He didn't know. So long as Jakob didn't seem too upset with his lack of questions he guessed it was okay. He did make sure Jakob knew he was proud of him, that he figured was the best thing he could do.
As he caught that longing look to his partner's gaze, the blond couldn't help but chuckle softly. He was adorable, and the cliche saying of the key to a man's heart was through his stomach certainly held true for Jakob. It made him happy though, to cook for him. Nice meals for them both to sit down and eat together. Lonny liked those things. It might not seem much to other people but little things like that meant the world to the boy who grew up not knowing any of it. Once he returned to cutting up and arranging the last of the sushi onto the large platter of all the various kinds he had made, he glanced over to see his boyfriend looking a bit taller and automatically knew he was using his abilities. He smiled to himself and shook his head. He had gotten a pair of slippers for Jakob, but when hovering was second nature to the other man, he had given up on telling him about them. He wasn't mad or anything, it was just sort of amusing.
"Really really." He answered his boyfriend's disbelieving question, watching as he hovered on over to the fridge and cracked it open to peer inside the freezer with his powers as well. "I like making things. You know that." He said with a shrug, lifting the platter and turned to set it on the island counter opposite of the counter against the wall that had the stove and such like. He smiled lightly and shook his head, "I wanted you all to myself. I'm greedy, and I like cooking for you. You deserve a nice home cooked meal after being away." He explained, though it was nothing he hadn't told the other man before. His blue eyes looking over at him as he waved a hand at him. "Now close up the freezer you sweet tooth monster. Come eat. What do you want to drink?"

Jakob flustered at the mention of boners, only because it reminded him of all the times they were together and they did things, had sex, made love. To Jakob it meant a lot, no matter how heavy it got, but the thought stirred his heart. He'd reverted his attention to the fridge even quicker because of it. "I can't help it." He mumbled as he stared into the freezer. He didn't need to explain the things Lonny did to him, he already knew.
Reaching into the freezer, he poked one of the frozen mochi with the tip of his index finger, testing if it was fully frozen or if Lonny had made it more recently, just before the blonde told him to shut it of course. He was hungry just staring at them, but the moment he heart his boyfriend express for him to close the door he knew he would have to wait until after dinner to attempt to snag one. It was a bummer, but he would do his best to be patient.
He shut it, though the look in his eyes showed his sadness until he stood straighter and hovered on over to sit. "Do you have tea?" Before he'd met Lonny he didn't eat many home cooked meals. Jakob didn't cook much for himself prior, and what with being busy with work, and school when he'd attended classes, he didn't have the time. He appreciated Lonny for doing things like this for him, even if he really should have taken him out.
Once he sat down he remembered why, feeling the box tighten in the pocket of his pants. Nervous, he pushed it further down, not wanting it to slip out, and pulled his sweater down further so it would be more hidden. Those same nerves he'd felt standing outside came back just as quickly as they'd left upon seeing his boyfriend. This was going to be an interesting night for sure.
"When did you learn how to make this stuff?" Who would have known he'd even been craving it until Lonny had the food right in front of him too. Sometimes he missed Japan, not the people he'd been around or the environment, but the food was fine. The culture of the people there, not like his parents, that was quite fine too. "Sorry that I'm here early. I just really wanted to see you."

The blond boy couldn't help chuckling so softly to himself as he watched his lover fluster. He was adorable, so fucking adorable. Lonny couldn't even around the man. He was the perfect lover, but you talk about it and he got all cute and just...this sometimes. It just solidified in his head, how endearing a creature Jakob Everheart was, and how too good he was for him. But he was greedy and he'd take him until it was time for Jakob to find someone better...or if he got tired of him. Which ever came first. Lonny dreaded the day either way. He knew it had to happen. He wasn't meant or good things....he just wasn't, and Jakob didn't need someone like him to be someone he went public with. Lonny would just make him look bad one people started to do digging.
"I know, I'm just too much." He purred, teasing the boy a little more, unable to help it as he watched him stare into the freezer as he did. He was a horrible creature, he knew. He tsked at Jakob when he saw him reaching into the thing though, silly sweet tooth driven man. He knew if he didn't prompt him to sit Jakob would spoil his appetite on sweets and so if Jakob didn't get his--glorious--but to the table, Lonny would be forced to tug him there. Luckily though, Jakob closed the freezer door and made his way over to sit on one of the bar stools. "I had a feeling you'd ask for tea." Lonny smiled, leaned over and pressed a kiss to the tip of Jakob's nose. "I made the strawberry tea." He said as he turned to his stove and lifted the cast iron tradition tea pot he had gotten at an antiques store. Good steal that one was. He took the steeped content from the pot, then closed it back up and got out the matching little cups that came with it, poured some carefully and set the pot back down. With the cups in hand he set on in front of Jakob, and placed one for himself down then went back to getting plates and chopsticks for them.
When he finished setting up he handed Jakob some honey and a spoon for his tea, and then took a seat beside him on the second stool, absolutely unaware of what was in his pocket, though he had picked up that Jakob seemed a bit...nervous about something. It read in the small ticks on his face that managed to show off despite it being rather less than expressive most times. "I started cooking once I got my own place. This was my first attempt at ice cream mochi though, so I hope I did it right." He made a small anxious face before he shook his head and papped at Jakob's shoulder lightly. "Don't be silly. I'm hardly going to complain. I adore having you to myself." Lonny assured, leaning over to press a kiss to Jakob's cheek. "You are the highlight of my days, Jakob."

If he only knew how utterly wrong he was. Get bored of him? Certainly never. With all the things he did while working, defending the rights of others, saving people, risking his life, sitting down to a plate of sushi with his boyfriend was the best thing he could ever ask for. Lonny was his peace, his time to relax. Jakob was one of the laziest personalities in the Initiative no doubt, so being able to take breaks like this and eat dinner with someone like he was normal was refreshing each and every time. He didn't do things like this when he had lived with his parents. It was appreciated too.
He didn't mind the teasing, though he pretended as if Lonny's tsking didn't scare him a little. God forbid he he make him wait longer to have the sweet desert, oh how painful that would be. Lonny knew him all too well really. He was quite predictable at this point, having been together for quite sometime, it was natural they picked up one one another's habits, interests, things they liked. Lonny certainly knew he loved sweets, and of course he always requested tea.
He closed his eyes at the sweet affection of the kiss to his nose, shortly after looking at Lonny in brief surprise that he had even made strawberry tea as well. He didn't need to ask it again, but he was simply taken aback. Being so spoiled like this, he wondered if Lonny had maybe caught on. Did someone tell him?...There was no way. Jakob didn't talk to the boy's friends much, if ever. "Really..you should have let me take you out."
He went to all this trouble to make him dinner, and what if Jakob's surprise was no longer a surprise? Assuming that he still didn't know, what if he messed it up. Said the wrong thing, approached it the wrong way at the wrong time, all of this had seemed so easy before he'd gotten the ring, but the clerk had been so surprised at him for not having a clue as to how he was going to pop the question. Why wasn't just asking okay? "Thank you." He replied and slowly picked up his spoon.
He fixed his tea with the honey he'd been given, listening to Lonny as he moved about all the while he thought about the many ways he could 'ask' him the big question. He wasn't all that creative, at least not with words. It was a real struggle. Only when the blonde patted him on the shoulder did he turn his cheek so slightly to peek at him, his words so kind and sweet he was temporarily sated until desert for sure. Lonny, he really was too much sometimes, he was simply the best boyfriend he could ask for. Making things like this for him, no one ever did that for Jakob.
He leaned into that kiss to the cheek as it was given, his heart doing pleasant flutters in his chest at his next statement. "But I know that you have you work too. That you're busy doing things when I'm not here." God he hated the thought of missing moment with Lonny when he was gone. "I don't want you to stress over making things for me if you're tired." Secretly though, he wondered how many times Lonny might have friends over, and how often he might cook for them. It was stupid, he knew.
"It's okay if I stay over? I like it here with you." He knew he didn't usually have to ask, but today he felt the need to. He'd be doing a lot of asking he realized, he might as well go the extra mile and be polite.

Lonny liked knowing Jakob so well. Silly little things like that made him happy. He liked noticing his patterns, what Jakob usually gravitated to because he liked being able to do stuff like this for him. He liked knowing that he would want tea with his meal, and he liked knowing that Jakob was rather fond of a tea that he was fond of too. It was just nice. It was all so nice and Lonny was terrified of when all that nice would come to an end.
As his lover continued to insist that he should have allowed him to take him out Lonny waved a hand at him, ignoring his silliness....though he frowned a moment and wondered if Jakob prefered being out. He always seemed to really love it when he cooked with Jakob in mind. Was it a lie? No no, couldn't be. Jakob wouldn't lie him about that...would he? And there went the doubt train, leaving the terminal with all dreary thoughts aboard choochoo! "Of course." He murmured as Jakob thanked him, and he reached for the honey once Jakob had finished so he could mix it into his own cup. He was far from even guessing what it was Jakob was up to and even if he suspected it was gone with all the terrible little worries riddling his mind despite how he tried to keep up appearance that nothing at all was going on there, being sweet to his sweetheart. Nothing wrong here. Nothing at all.
Blue shaded hues shifting back to Jakob as he leaned forward to untie his apron while he sat in his seat, carefully folding it up after and set it aside on the counter. "Mmm. I have work yes, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to make dinner for us. I like sharing dinner with you. I'm not stressed, and I'm perfectly energized. Promise." He assured, giving the other boy a wink before he lowered a hand to Jakob's thigh and gave it an affectionate squeeze. "I'm sorry if you wanted to go out though? Next time just tell me. I just thought some time alone would be nice...you know? Since you were gone for a bit." He offered a soft apologetic smile, his worries eating at him, making him apologize if he had done this all wrong. He hoped that Jakob would enjoy dinner here, if that was the case. If he had actually wanted to go out.
Retracting his hand, he shifted in his seat, then reached to pull the platter closer to them, lips parting to tell Jakob to take what he wanted but the other man's question gave him pause. Mouth closed a moment as he stared at the plate then shifted his eyes toward his partner, giving him a slightly quizzical look before his face lightened. A sly half smile upcurled the left side of his lips as he arched a brow. "I don't think tonight is good, as I've got a Gay Boys Book Club meeting going on only we don't really discuss books. We discuss dick size. I think you are ranked like fifth on dick size here." Okay he was being a bit terrible but you know, a silly question promted a silly answer. "Only I love your dick so you got nothing to worry about and I don't have a gay boy's book club. Why ask silly? You know I always want you here."

Jakob looked down at the boy's apron as he untied it, watching him idly as he spoke. He trusted him, and even though Jakob still eyes the blonde with hinted worry, he believed the words he had said. He wasn't stressed, which was good. Jakob would feel terrible if he proposed and it just made that stress worse. Timing, he had to remind himself about the timing. After dinner maybe.
Jakob had thought about asking him to go out, simply because making a display of it he thought would affirm his feelings for the blonde. He wanted him to know that he didn't care what anyone else thought, that he'd love him in public and not give a damn, but this, he wasn't at all disappointed with just being alone with Lonny too. It was true that he preferred having him to himself at times, especially after long trips for work. It just seemed for the occasion that it was more normal to be proposed to in public, but maybe for Lonny he wouldn't mind this either.
It was all for him. Jakob just wanted it to be perfect.
He reached out for his cup of tea, lifting it to his lips to take a small sip. In that moment Lonny's hand had touched his thigh, and despite how much he loved Lonny's warm palm even over his clothes he tensed so slightly out of worry that he'd notice the lump in his pocket. His apology however, that was something that took him off guard. He took a sip of his tea, set it down and reached out to Lonny with his own right hand. His finger tips mingles in the ends of the boy's hair, before his thumb brushed gently along his cheek.
"You don't need to apologize. It doesn't bother me." Simple words, but his affection was transmitted in the gentle touch before he lowered his hand from his lovers cheek and watched him pull their food closer. What he said next, even with that sly grin, made Jakob look worried and flustered again all at the same time. Fifth? Who were these people he had over then? He didn't say anything but his questions were practically written on his face, in his eyes as he looked over Lonny. Terrible, yes, but Jakob was quite slow, at least with such blunt teasing. He was ever relieved to know that he was kidding. "I don't know." He admitted, only realizing how silly his question had been with Lonny asking him why he'd mentioned it. "..Is fifth really bad?" He lowered his eyes and reached out to pick up one of the rolls with his fingers first. "It sounds bad."

Honestly Lonny would feel sort of bad if he knew just how much trouble he was causing Jakob right now. He hadn't a clue as to what was going on behind that handsome face of his but public or private, Lonny would definitely be utterly moved by what Jakob had in mind to do. He didn't need fancy though. Jakob had agreed to keep their relationship on the hushed side of things for Lonny's privacy and safety where as Lonny had agreed to it because he didn't want to make Jakob look back when he already had some odds against him with his family history. Jakob was amazing and people deserved to see that. He didn't want to be one more stain against him when he seemed to have come so far already. That being said if only he knew, he'd probably prefer private. You know, to keep with things being rather hushed for Jakob, at least for as long as they possibly could. He didn't know. He tried not to think of these things because he couldn't possibly deserve them. He just couldn't. It was so in his head that he didn't deserve them and funny it was, that it was coming his way and he would have never seen it even with how over the moon they were for each other.
The blond frowned a brief moment as Jakob seemed to tense at his touch, wondering once more if he had done something wrong or what if something was already wrong and oh god just what did he do? What did he do? Because this was very not like Jakob. He never really tensed at his touch unless he was hurt....and then as that came to mind Lonny frowned a bit more because he really disliked it when Jakob got hurt even if he knew that was the risk of the job. He made a mental note to check it out and then another note to offer Jakob a nice massage perhaps to help with any other aches and pains. Since having gotten with Jakob the boy had taken up to reading massage books and practicing on friends--because like hell was he going to do it wrong on Jakob--to get it perfect for his boyfriend.
The frown disappeared with the gentle touch he received from Jakob for his silly apologies and other worries. He smiled at him and pressed a kiss to the palm of his hand for his sweetness before you know, he had to go teasing his poor darling. It was too easy sometimes and further more he felt just a bit horrible whenever Jakob reacted so easily. He was gullible, on a very endearing level but because of it, as said, he couldn't help but feel a bit too naughty for picking at that gullible bit of his lover. Especially when Jakob was looking at him like he was....and when he seemed to keep pondering over it even as he admitted to it being only a job for Jakob's silly question. "There is nothing to compare to sweetheart." Lonny said, trying to get Jakob to dismiss it so he wouldn't get worried over it. He hardly wanted to give him a complex and honestly he didn't think he would take so much to it. They had been together a year and Lonny was a rather hungry thing for Jakob in that year...well...almost year but still.
"You rock my world and you know it. Hush. I was teasing." He assured and reached to place a few pieces of sushi onto his plate as well. "I had to wash my sheets while you were gone so I need you rolling all over them so I can sleep soundly at night with my sheet smelling like my super hot, super awesome hero boyfriend."

Jakob was waiting for just the right moment, but Lonny made him nervous when he got close like that. It made Jakob just want to tell him right now because if he touched him again he sure as hell wouldn't want to defend him against finding out. He missed Lonny, and he liked it when the boy touched him, gave him little affections like that. Oh how torn he was thanks to the box in his pocket. He hoped, at least, that it was worth it, and that his boyfriend would in fact have positive reactions.
He had grinned to himself so slightly when Lonny kissed the palm of his hand, his shoulders relaxing finally. He had a few bruises here and there, but nothing serious. If he could pretend to be hurt just to keep Lonny from noticing the ring he would. Making a slight face as Lonny wished for him to roll around in his sheets, he shrugged, "I suppose I can." If he really wanted him to. Though he was a bit jealous considering Lonny couldn't so easily just walk on into the Initiative dorms and play in his bed sheets. It just made him miss him more.
Munching on his first roll, Jakob stared over at the platter and was beyond pleased with his boyfriends cooking. There was no doubt he'd want more then what he deserved, and he wanted Lonny to eat too..but these were really good for his first attempt. Without asking, as soon as he was finished with one he placed another in his mouth. He was happy in moments like these. He knew Lonny cared for him because of the meal, he was excited that he'd get to stay over and do normal things with his boyfriend for the first time in a few days, whats more there anniversary was soon. Things hadn't been this good before Lonny.
"Have you decided what you might want to do next week?" He inquired a bit bashfully albeit. It was the first time he'd been with someone so long. It meant a lot to him, and yet he had no idea what people did on anniversaries. Taking a sip of his warm tea a moment, he tugged lightly at the fabric of Lonny's shirt just above his hip. Lowering his cup he kissed the blonde on the temple, and lulled genuine words of appreciation. "I do like your food, even though you didn't have to cook. Thank you"
