It was a common sight to see the raven haired teenager hold up within the Barnes & Noble, in fact he got on the staffs nerves all the time for loitering. But Thomas wanted to make sure that his money was spent on something worth it. So a lot of the times he’d finish a manga or comic book in the store before purchasing it.
But today he was excited over the fact that one of his newest favorites had just released a new volume! Blue Light, it an American produced manga about with a villain protagonist. Though Thomas adored his superheroes and vigilantes, he loved how the mangaka had made the main character so human despite the fact they were evil.
“W-w-w-what? But this new volume had caught him off guard. “Why would she die!” He had just started growing attached to one of the characters, he would even say she was his favorite. “This makes no sense! It totally screws up the narrative and it completely unnecessary!”
He was walking with his nose in the pages, not watching where he was angrily storming. It wasn’t surprising when he collided with another patron, spilling all of the books she was carrying everywhere.
“Gah! What the hell!” His initial reaction was, of course anger. Angry that his rant and train of thought had been interrupted. But on further inspection, he understood it was his own fault and guilt sunk in. He had knocked all of her books out of her arms and could have hurt her. “Uh..um..ah...” A jumble of sounds left his mouth but he couldn’t muster up a simple ‘my bad’ out of sheer embarrassment.
The instant he noticed her trying to pick up her fallen books though he knelt down and tried to grab them up for her himself.
“I-I got it,” He sounded so rash still. He looked over the books she had gotten, some on myths and cryptozoology, some random novels he’d never heard of, and... A manga? “Oh, hey, this is a good one! You read?” It was Fullmetal Alchemist, one of his all time favorite shounen manga. Hell it had to be one of the best of its genre.

One of the perks of living in Arkham was that you never knew what you'd find in an alley. Stored haphazardly in a trash can was a paper bag with a lot of money inside. So, naturally, Jenny took five twenty dollar bills and left the rest alone. She was then able to take a bus out of there and got back to the mainland.
Jenny wasn't staying there for long, she just wanted to grab some books. Unfortunately, the Devil's Advocate was closed due to the owner being away, so she went to Barnes and Nobel. She really didn't know her way around that well, but she was happy they had everything she wanted.
As she was making her way out of the aisle, she was bumped into by a boy that was about her age, and seemed very mad for some reason. She really couldn't pinpoint why, but at least he was helping her get the books back together. She picked up her other books and noticed he had seen her selection of Fullmetal Alhemist. "Oh? Well, I haven't really read much, but I heard it was really good if you're interested in reading manga..." She reached out her hand towards the book and managed a small smile. "Um... May I have my book back, uh... Wait, I don't think we've exchanged names yet. My name's Jenny, what's yours?"

So she was a causal, it figured. He hadn’t met many girls who actually read anything besides shoujo around here. And he would never admit to liking that, he got teased enough for being a geek he didn’t need to come off as girly too. But she did admit to being interested in it, maybe she wasn’t just someone who was only into mainstream stuff.
“Oh," He was a little disappointed. “Well, this isn’t a bad read. It’s a good way to get into manga, for sure. It’s pretty western so it doesn’t turn people away and is easy to get into since it feels like an American story, but man can it get intense—oh! But I-I don’t wanna ruin anything for you,” He let out a nervous chuckle, nothing was worse than a spoiler, and he didn’t want to soften the impact of what was to some from Fullmetal.
“J-Jenny?” Oh crap she introduced herself, and asked for her book back. He was totally rambling right now. “Oh right the book! Here you go,” He kinda shoved it into her arms in a panic, damn it he was being awkward. “Sorry, ah I’m Thomas, anyways, Thomas Nazari.”
Now that he got a look at her she was pretty cute. And that just made him more nervous feeling. He was always a little awkward at meeting new people, but girls were the worst. His dad always told him women were a totally different species from men and that was why boys get nervous and sweaty around them.
“So,” He dragged out the ‘o’s. “What made you wanna pick this up? I mean, if it’s cool I ask,” He tried to smooth over his nervousness.

Jenny took the book and placed it on top of her other books, then looked over towards Thomas. "Oh, I read a lot of novels, and I was really interested in getting into manga! I don't have a TV or a computer, so I can't watch anime, but books generally are better than the movies and TV shows, right?" She chuckled and leaned back against a bookshelf. She really wanted to sit down and talk, she never really had a chance to talk with someone her age. It felt pretty nice.
"Actually, I was having a really hard time deciding on what I should buy... I was thinking about Mob Psycho 100, Durarara, and some others, but I decided on Fullmetal Alchemist because it seems like a lot of fun! Also, that was the thing the clerk recommended when he saw me looking through. I guess he figured I didn't know what I was lookin for, right?" She lifted a hand to cover her mouth as he giggled a little bit more, using her leg to support her stack o books. She stopped and sighed, using her hand again to support the stack. She looked back over towards Thomas.
"Hey, you seem to know a lot about it. If I go and buy these books, why don't we go hang out and talk a bit more? I kind of want a bag right now to support all of my stuff instead of using my arms for the entire time. You can also tell me why you were so mad that you ran into me, right?" He seemed really nice! He would definitely make for a good friend, if she could figure out how to manage all of that. Come to think of it, she didn't really have any friends... It probably would be nice if she had some. As she thought about that, she would look as though she was looking behind Thomas, and quickly snapped out of it, realizing she was probably making him feel weird...
