She had only recently found out that her father was the Electromancer, a famous vigilante who participated in the fight against the alien invasion of 2008... and that those who had killed them must have been after his technology. She now wanders the internet to track down their killers... and maybe bring some renown to her father's name... although that might be hard for someone who can only be seen through screens. [attr="id","won"][attr="class","nee"] [attr="class","eda"]friends Alice had friends... and now they all think she's dead, and they'll probably be spooked if she tried messaging them or popping inside their monitors. So it makes sense that she'd be really happy to just have someone to talk to who wouldn't freak out... although the chances that they would be normal people would probably be really low. That said, people who could help her figure out her father's history and his possible enemies would be really helpful, too, and those probably would be superheroes or people connected to them. She's not too sure how to feel about the Initiative, though... they're cool, but her father didn't want to join them... [attr="id","tuu"][attr="class","nee"] [attr="class","eda"]enemies Well, those people who killed her and her father, obviously. And most villains, because she's supposed to be a hero, or something. Still, Alice is really new to the whole saving-people thing, and she could only do so much, so she might accidentally befriend a villain or two. She's really hard to kill, so that really gives her a lot of room to tolerate most people. That said, any people who hurt her friends is automatically an enemy, of course. Whose ears would she be able to mouth off if they're dead? [attr="id","trii"][attr="class","nee"] [attr="class","eda"]lovers ...she hasn't really thought about this, and it's kinda hard to have a relationship when you don't have a body to begin with. But sure, maybe... although she'd really like to avenge her father first. She is really lonely, though... [attr="id","for"][attr="class","nee"] [attr="class","eda"]other Her father is the original Electromancer, a secretive vigilante who was a great help in the alien invasion of 2008... but for his own reasons, including keeping his identity and his family safe, did not join the Initiative. He specialized in various robotics which he controlled from long distances, and he might even have hijacked the aliens' technology once or twice in the whole fiasco. People who know him and the name would be nice, whether they have a grudge on him, a debt of honor, or simply know him as another hero, although if they could provide leads to the people of Alice is looking for, that'd be really nice. [break][break] Also, people whose powers synergize or sabotage Alice's own powers or existence... data manipulators, artificial intelligences, electrokinetics... people who may perceive and help or interfere with Alice's quest... they'd be nice to have, too! Electromancer: Might be a tad strange for a plot/thread idea, but delta is a person who spends more time online than he does interacting with real-life humans. His ability to scan people even if there is a screen between them could probably serve as an interesting device for their interaction?
I'm thinking that he could have a comms thread with Alice wherein he finds out that she's dead. (Or she appears as a character in a game he's playing, because she can treat programs as physical puzzles?) And then we could probably pursue some sort of Chamber of Secrets-esque plotline/conversation a la Riddle's diary lol.

But yeah, this sounds interesting! I actually passed by your plotter, although I might not have given too much thought to him being online as a plot hook. I imagine Alice would take to the internet while she doesn't have that many people yet who she can deal with in person, and when she tries to snoop around Delta's internet connection, she gets foiled by his place's unplottability and gets curious as well, so the curiosity can be mutual. She can also totally pop in MMORPGs and give the Gamemasters headaches, hahaha. (What do you mean you countered that spell with your spell? That's not listed in the game mechanics!)
I'm... not so sure about what you mean by Chamber of Secrets plotline. Is it talking to someone who's dead? Or talking to a wish-granter? Haha. Hrm... if Delta's wish-granting activates, it'll probably be some inane thing Alice would wish, although she might blabber on and on and ask for a body or the ability to taste and smell things again or, if they ever get to talking more seriously, find out just who killed her and her parents. So, yeah. I like the initial plot, but clarifications? |

Electromancer: Hahah! Yeah, I'm not sure how the Eltanins even got an internet connection in the first place, but let's chalk it up to some djinn magic that his father's generation worked. I guess they can meet in an MMO then? It'll definitely surprise Delta to see that the player in his party is, well, not a real player but a digital phenomenon instead.
I was thinking of Ginny writing into a diary that spoke back to her. Something like that, except instead of Delta chatting to what seems like a bot, but turns out to be a living thing. (Well, as living as a person immortalized in cyberspace is.) It could serve as a prelude to them meeting in the MMO? Perhaps Alice decides to trace Delta's internet connection because she realized he was in an unplottable location and joins him in-game. xD
You know, it might get wildly out of hand if Alice does express a desire for those things and Iskander's wish-granting powers kicks in. At the moment, he has no control of it. To give an example: If someone says they love cats and wouldn't mind a bunch of them in their house as a throwaway comment, they might suddenly end up with like a dozen of 'em mewing at their doorstep lmao. I mean, it sure as heck can happen but at what cost and result? Though I'm game to challenge that in-character if you are too. 8)

Hrmmm. If that's so, I'm game! They'll have to meet someplace first (online, I mean) for her to stumble upon Delta's little unplottable defense, haha. And then, she sees that these signals coming from this forcefully-made-unknown location are streaming to this MMO thing, so she gives it a try even though she's a total noob in MMOs (she was more a sporty girl when she was alive). And then, shenanigans.
So, thread? Where do you put a thread that happens in the Internet, anyway? XD And, yeah, well, we'll see if Alice's mouth is big enough to trigger something XD

So Hades rping with ghosts could be very interesting. He could come to collect her cuz he doesn't like it when souls are not coming to the underworld and are just wandering aimlessly. He could try to take her to the underworld and she could try to explain to him that she still has stuff to do here? Then maybe strikea deal with Hades?

Wellll let's see. There is a reason I've been unsure with plotting with Hades, because yeah, he'd definitely try to get her to the underworld, and while her dual nature (Electric/Ghost like Rotom /shot) might mean she could resist it a bit, Hades is still an Olympian. I'm thinking Alice has probably heard of him, and might go to great pains to not get caught by him... until she ends up someplace where she can't just port into the Internet and Hades has her cornered, haha, where she'll be forced to say that she still wants to live and she still wants to find her father's killer. Not sure what sort of deal Hades would agree to... even if she accomplishes her quest, she'd probably want to squirrel her way out of dying, afterward, but that's a long way off XD (and with how certain villains can come back... XD) |

I'm honestly quite the fan of this idea! Just out with the creation/robbing a spot for testing purposes and all of a sudden Alice just takes it over. Personally I feel like Steph would find someone being able to take over her technology/mechanisms/creations as interesting and really just help you out for the fun of it. But I've seen the wishlist, and all of those things (and more) are possible from Tinker /o/. tinker

So I have a few neat points I want to mention but not really any concrete overarching plot in mind. Alice is an absolute cutie, tho, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they became some variety of friends.
Raz definitely doesn't have the prerequisite spiritual affinity to perceive Alice in a traditional sense, but they do have this thing called a cerebral linking device that's meant for non-verbal communication between consciousnesses. In their era, this technology is used for communicating with all sorts of different types of alien species, including those without traditional organic brains or physical bodies, so Alice should be able to use it even without possessing it (can she even possess magitech? Does that work?). Maybe she hovers over to it and accidentally sends a thought over to Raz, who would be very happy to have someone to mentally converse with.
Alternatively, Raz can probably perceive the digital signals which she creates (see: data link ability), though it may take some initial time for them to interpret her particular data format. It's up to you how much Raz will be able to perceive from a strictly non-spiritual ability, tho; the range of potential is anywhere from just sensing her presence to being acutely aware of her actions and thoughts.
They should probably at least be introduced to each other before Alice tries to possess Raz's technological bits, though... mostly because I think the magitech would automatically try to consume her for power since it can absorb electrical energy ;u; hoWEVER, if they get on good terms, I think Raz would happily reserve a few internal components for her to possess without risk. These parts wouldn't have any control over their body as a whole, but could act as a sort of advanced virtual sandbox and chatroom. It'd also allow Raz to provide Alice with electricity from their own body (stored away as chemical or magical energy, but easily converted) in case of a blackout or a dangerous villain who needs to be zapped.
edit: I forgot to mention that Raz could rig up some magitech goggles so people without a spiritual affinity could perceive her. Look at all this ability synergy |
