ever heard of KJ group? probably not, unless you happen to be weirdly into global corporate economics. they’re a chaebol - a korean family-owned conglomerate - that was until recently run by kwon jae-yoon, with a huge portfolio in manufacturing and heavy industry.

hyemi happens to be the daughter of the CEO of this enormous company, and she counts herself as fairly lucky that she’s not become the nut rage lady. sure, both of her parents being extremely busy with their executive positions in the company could have meant she grew up a bratty, spoiled and all-round unpleasant child, but hyemi’s mother and paternal aunt ended up being a positive enough force to instill in her an extremely strong work ethic and sense of fairness and justice. just as well, because despite her drive hyemi never had to work particularly hard for much of anything - even her acceptance to the prestigious seoul national university was, she suspects, bought and paid for.

of course, while she had been allowed to do whichever degree she wanted, hyemi was always going to have to work for the family business, no matter how big, to show the acceptable amount of filial piety for the acceptable number of years. unfortunately, things ended up complicated somewhat.

jaeyoon, hyemi’s father, ended up getting ill and dying very suddenly - the doctors were mystified. this meant the company fell to her aunt, and after finishing her agreed five years of standard corporate work was asked to stay on for five more.

this, she reasoned, was bullshit.

suspicious of the potential reasons for her father’s sudden mortal illness, hyemi started using her position in the accounts department to dig into the company’s finances, noticing a number of sizeable under-the-table deals with an anonymous individual or small company out of america. this, she reasoned, might have been motive, and she set to her best detective work. she told the family she was taking time off to go over and visit a branch of the family, that of a wayward uncle, but in reality she arrived in kingsport and used the information she’d discovered to demand a meeting with the anonymous buyer of KJ’s various manufacture and foundry equipment.

she’d thought she would find something to implicate her aunt in conspiracy to murder. she hadn’t exactly expected to find a supervillain.

she especially hadn’t imagined she’d end up rather agreeing with the man.

through her association with the man known as the dread knight, hyemi has been supplied with a suit of magitech armour. she’s a reasonably fit woman as it stands, but in armour she is given certain advantages straying into the superhuman range - particularly speed, agility and durability. hyemi’s own knowledge and ideas have influenced the machinery towards a highly-mobile melee-oriented strategy, allowing her the ability to perform what she calls ‘flickers’ - dashes at speeds faster than the human eye can perceive, allowing her to close distances extremely quickly and disorient those attempting to take aim at her.



hyemi is a mechanical physics graduate from a university deemed one of the top thirty in the world to study the subject, and as such she has a sizeable knowledge base - on top of her obvious logical and problem-solving abilities, she’s able to calculate mechanical stresses, ballistic trajectories, and various other things extremely quickly and accurately.



of course, as presumptive heiress to the KJ group, hyemi is well-connected in the field. she’s able to source heavy machinery and the like with little notice, as well as call in favours from several wealthy and powerful individuals within the chaebol society circles.
