She made for a strange sight, hopping from one car to another to reach the front of the traffic. A distance away was her quarry--- a van driving recklessly away, containing a couple of hold-uppers she had managed to spot, albeit it had taken her a while to get this close. This was Kingsport, and perhaps super-powered people hopped around car's roofs more often... but what ultimately made Julia a strange sight was that, as she trailed after the criminals, she was... fiddling with a phone.
Having reached the furthest car she could reach, the closest one to the miscreants she sought to arrest, she stooped down to converse with the driver. "Excuse me?" she began, with a tone so conversational that it felt it should have been used in a situation that was much more normal. "I'm trying to catch up to that van. Could you please help me get to there?"
"Ah-ah-yes!" stammered out the driver.
"My thanks." she ended as she rose back to her standing position--- all the while she kept her balance as the car she was on and the van she was aiming for moved down the road. She turned back to her phone, and wonder of wonders, it worked this time.
"Good day. Is this the Initiative? This is Justitia. I'm chasing some criminals in the Junction, and I could use some help..."

"Sure thing! We've tracked your location and we're sending someone close by in for assistance!" a voice rang from the phone. On the subject of oddities occurring in Kingsport, a certain new recruit of the Initiative was riding on top of what seemed like a magical horse. She had left the safety of the compound with the excuse that Crusador required exercise after being in stasis for many years. That was a little white lie. To be honest she wasn't a big fan of being around inside, and she wanted to go outside, maybe to one of those park things she had seen on that television whatchamacallit. She was certainly garnering a lot of attention with her Stardust Steed and futuristic cowboy attire along with her holster of retro-futuristic guns.
Her pager suddenly went off. Thank goodness the people had explained how to use it or else she would have probably thrown it to the side. She picked up the device and clicked the button. "Howdy! This is Annabelle! What can I do ya for?" The voice answered from the pager, "Hi Anna! A fellow hero requests assistance. It's Justitia. Just follow the road north and you should find her in pursuit of something. Think you can handle it?" Annabelle's eyes lit up and she answered, "Well of course I can! I'll be there quicker'n you can say... Uh... What's something that you guys say these days? Lickety Split? Is that still a thing?" Annabelle shrugged and put away the pager. She suddenly leaned forward, causing Crusador the Stardust Steed to pick up the pace. "YEE HAW! LET'S RIDE!" And so, she broke away from the sidewalk and began dodging cars to head to the location. Finally, her first mission!
She soon arrived at where Justitia was. It seemed kinda obvious since she was the only one that was on top of one oh those horseless wagons. "Howdy, ya Justita? Name's Anna- Erm... Star Ryder! I got the message. What's our goal today?" She said all of this with a goofy grin on her face as she rode parallel to the car keeping up with it at the same speed.

The reinforcements sent her were... well, she would have said they were strange, but she supposed she can't say much about herself, since she found most of the modern world strange... and she supposed many people here found her strange as well. There was a woman whose leg and... fingers were... of a strange material that rang at a strange frequency.
...I might be overusing the word 'strange' a bit. There are probably stranger things here in Kingsport...
But that was nothing compared to her... horse? It was shaped like a horse, but it sounded like a lot of tiny beams at the same time. Well, it wasn't breaking anything, so she supposed she didn't have to worry.
Right, she had to answer her. "Well met, Miss Ryder." she began, and then she pointed towards the van that was getting away. "We need to stop that van." she explained, simply.
"...can I ride along with you on your... horse?" she asked. She was having the assistance of this car driver, but if she could not endanger the man, then such an option would be helpful.

So this was Justitia. She was apparently blind, right? So how did she know that she was on a horse? No matter. Anna belle waved up towards her. "Hey! Yeah, jump on!" she scooted up forwards on the horse and tried to keep at the same pace with the car. "Anyways, ya got any more info on these guys? Are they armed and dangerous?"
Her hand was reaching torwards her laser pistol, ready to use it any way, but she decided to not and instead reached for her lasso. "Speakin' of names, mind if I call ya Just? You can call me Star, works a bit quicker that way, ya know? Also, the horse's name is Crusador. He's made of stardust, but don't worry! He won't hurt ya! C'mon, jump on! We'll catch those varmints yet!"
A faint giggle could be heard from her. She had not had this much fun in a long time... Being a hero was awesome!

"...they have... large guns."
She had heard the telltale sound of the weapons they carried from inside the van, although they had not yet brought them to bear against her--- which was good, as she was still riding this civilian's car. As for what sort they were... well, she wasn't informed well enough for that, even if she could probably describe the structure of the firearms.
She was... well, this Star Ryder was dreadfully casual about this whole crisis, but then again not many people she had encountered here in Kingsport took the same level of seriousness she did with her job. She supposed it just might be all right, if the woman proved capable.
"You may call me Julia." she said--- she felt shortening her title might be disrespectful to it, although Just was an adjective that pertained to Justice as well... still, she was a bit apprehensive.
"A moment, Miss Star." she said, and stooped again to address the car driver. "Thank you for your help. I'll see that you are recompensed for your trouble."
"Ah... yes! Thank you, too!"
She manifested the Scales of Maat, and with a single elegant bound, seated herself at the back of the one who wished to be called Star, the horse of strange essence happily not frying her upon contact.
"Let us go, then."
The car turned back down the road, as they continued to chase the van.

"Well of course they have guns, all low time crooks do... I'd imagine since we're chasing after that big hunk a' metal, they either kidnapped someone, stole somethin', or have a lot of crooks inside, right? Also, if we're gonna go on a first name basis, name's Annabelle, but call me Anna."
Annabelle grinned as she dug her heels into Crusador's side and jostled the reigns to make him go faster. She leaned forward a bit more to build up speed as she was almost to the back of the van. Thankfully, the horse was not even beginning to lose its strength.
"Alright Julia, I have a bit of a plan... I'll shoot the back door open and let ya jump inside the horseless carr- I mean van and ya can deal with them inside... Wait a minute..." Annabelle thought for a second. "Hey do ya know how to drive one of them things? I sure as heck have no idea..."
Annabelle wasn't a good reader of people's abilities. Hell, the blindfold could have been for show and she could be able to see through it! She continued chasing after the van, moving her hand back to the laser pistol.
"Either way, trying to lasso that thing could only lead to us being dragged behind it, and I ain't too keen on getting my vest ripped today... Now then, let's get ready to rumble!"
And so, she unholstered the gun and gave it a little spin in her hands before letting a shot out at the middle of the doors, causing them to open up and reveal those inside.

Julia had never ridden a horse before, much less ride along with another on one; still, she settled into a stable enough stance, relying on her sense of balance to lead the way.
"Very well, Miss Anna." It had not been her intention to be in first name terms with the woman, but if she was comfortable with it, then there was no problem.
She found herself slightly amused at the woman calling the van a... horseless carriage. Well, she'd thought of those vehicles like that, and sometimes she still did, too. "I have no idea too, Miss Anna." she responded. "I have heard you needed sight to do so, though." she helpfully supplied.
At the very least, she knew that there was a sort of wheel and a lever and pedals that the driver used--- she could hear those controls being utilized right now, and in turn the core of the vehicle's body responded--- but it might not be the most opportune time to discuss her observations.
She was curious what the lasso was, but if Anna was not going to use it, if she thought it was not appropriate for the situation, she would put off asking about it. "In any case, I agree with your plan, Miss Anna."
With that said, the action began; Star Ryder shot, and the van's door opened, to the flabbergasted faces of a group of hold-uppers--- three in total, here in the back--- who had not realized the authorities were already close enough. From her sitting position, Justitia vaulted over her comrade and jumped straight for them, maximizing her advantage of surprise. In close quarters, the advantage of their guns were nulled.
The melee began.

"Well, I guess one of us has to do it. Yee haw! Yippe Ki Yay, ya varmints! Get on up there, Crusador!"
This was bound to be a terrible idea. Annabelle used Crusador to make her way up to the front of the van. Upon getting close to the door, she let a shot ring out from her pistol and pierced the door's handle, making it fly open. In response, Annabelle leaped from the horse to the front of the van, landing in the front seat and holding the gun to the robber's head. She then reached her hand out and made a whistle, causing Crusador to dissipate and form into a metal ball in her hand.
"Hey, pal." "W-what do you want from us?" "What you did weren't a nice thing to do, y'know?" "P-please let us go!" "Ya know where the uh... Police station is?" "O-of course!" Annabelle continued to hold the gun to his head. "Then why don't you drive this thing there, hmm? The poor sod of a driver whimpered as he nodded and changed his course to start heading there.
Okay, that could have gone a lot worse like Annabelle maybe taking over control of the car, but it seemed like a good plan... For now. Annabelle shouted back towards Julia, "Hey Justitia! Need a hand back there with them?"

The robbers weren't much of a threat--- but at her current speed, she wouldn't be able to dodge bullets.
That was all right. She only had to be faster than their fingers.
She had landed at the center, the robbers now on both of her sides... with nowhere to go except out of the van, which was probably not a good idea for a normal human. One would think she would have a hard time with the small space, but she used it to her advantage.
She spun. One lost his gun, her scale making it clatter to the ground, the man's fingers numb. At the same time the other man on the side lost his weapon as well.
One more had dropped his weapon and was reaching for a sidearm... she completed the combination... with a kick. All down.
With a sweep with her scales she sent their guns clattering out onto the road, even as the van continued moving.
"Please make no more actions to resist." she requested. "The four of you are under arrest." At least they seem to be considering her words. She would know if they tried anything. Their heartbeats and their movements were all clear to her ears.
She turned toward the driver--- ah, Miss Anna had done her part. "I seem to be done, Miss Anna." she responded. "Thank you for your concern."

This was going great! Was being a hero this easy?! Just stopping crime from happening? If this was what it was, she was all for it! She'd have quite a tale to tell Morricone later today! Being a hero is so much fun~ She began to turn towards Julia with the gun still held up to the crook's head.
Meanwhile, the driver was following orders... But as to who's orders would be made clear soon. With one hand on the wheel, he slowly unholstered a pistol from his side and aimed it towards her. He slowly pulled the trigger back...
"Hey, Julia, y'know, we make a great team! We should probably do some more miss-" A loud Bang would echo through the van, followed by a large ker-tunk. Annabelle was suddenly, flying out of the car, and what appeared to be blood started to spring out of her leg. She fired a few shots towards the driver, but not before the car had started to pass her...
"GAH! NOT TODAY YA BASTARD!" Did you really think Star Ryder was going to get injured this soon?! Hell no! Annabelle quickly pulled her lasso out and successfully anchored it to the back door. She was holding onto it and was climbing her way back to the van. Meanwhile, the driver was swerving and trying to get Justitia out of the car, but yet he was still heading towards the police station... Annabelle couldn't let go of the rope yet, not unless she wanted to kiss the concrete and get one of those newfangled plastic surgeries to deconstruct her face... Her freckles were much too pretty for that.

"Miss Anna, look out!"
She might have foreseen the driver aiming and shooting at her comrade, but her warning was still late--- too late for Star Ryder to react. Her compatriot flew out of the van even as the driver resumed driving...
Wait, why is he still going for the police station?
The driver was... making the van move from left to right in a reckless fashion, clearly trying to upset her balance, although she managed to be stable and standing. The three other criminals had managed to get their guns in the confusion, and from their sitting positions aimed at her. She managed to disarm one again, this time sending their pistol out of the van, but a bullet from another required the blocking of one of her scales--- and the next grazed her arm--- puncturing the van's wall. The tables have been turned, and she was now the one being ambushed.
She noted that Miss Anna had managed to hang on with rope just outside. "It seems I must really knock some sense into all of you."

Annabelle hardly had time to think in this situation as she noticed Julia struggling inside with the robbers. She kept reaching out and pulled herself in. This kept reminding her of the time she did the spacewalk outside the ship... Good times... A sudden car horn blaring pats her on the other side brought her back to reality.
She finally reached up and grabbed onto the door, swinging wildly from it. Julia had been leaping on the roofs of cars, right? She lunged herself up and landed atop the van, practically surfing on the van. She crouched down and moved towards the back, popping down and appearing before swinging the lasso at one of the crook's legs, lassoing them together and jerking him back to make him fall on his butt. The criminals would then turn their attention to the cowgirl's head hanging upside down with the hat inexplicably still attached.
"Howdy y'all! I don't think we ever properly introduced ourselves! We're from the Initiative, and we're here to kick yer asses! So why don't you put those guns down now, yeah?"
This wasn't working, but it did make the criminals laugh... As for Anna's leg, the mechanics inside were beginning to heal themselves back to normal. Thank goodness it was her prosthetic leg and not her other one. That would've been bad and a bit more painful... Anyways, with her other hand, she drew her gun and aimed it at the other bandit. "Your move, buckaroo." Justitia ,

The robbers were more emboldened, this time--- after all, she was now a known element, lacking the advantage of surprise. As it was, it was all she could do to not get shot and stay within the van. The criminals had put their backs to the vehicle's walls and were firing at her with smaller arms.
Miss Anna was on the roof, she heard, she realized. Invigorated, she kept up her defense, dodging and blocking with her weapon. While her strength and speed only increased a little to deal with the trio, it was more than enough. She needed only to make the right move when the opportunity presented itself--- ah, Miss Anna took one, and the other two are surprised. Then, they laughed.
She slammed the laughing duo with a scale each, knocking them unconscious. "I apologize, Miss Anna." she said--- she might have ruined her moment of bravado a little. All that remained... was the driver.
The van swerved, and the driver jumped out. The van was careening towards a building. She picked up the two men she had put to sleep.
"I guess we should get out." They should get the criminals out first. Chasing the driver... came later.

Annabelle was looking ahead towards the building the Driver was driving straight towards. It was the police station... Of course... She groaned and made the horse appear on top of the Can, dragging the man up and hogtying him in a split second and putting him in front of her. She jumped off of the van and onto the road.
"Julia... What the hell is that sonuvabitch doin'?!" She really had no idea what was going on... The van was now going to crash into the Police Station... But why? Was it a terrorist plot?!
"JULIA! JUMP!" She said as she chased after her. Her prisoner was still groaning from having his leg dislocated from his hip. Even if she untied him, he wasn't going to be going anywhere anytime soon... Justitia ,

She jumped.
...too late she realized that the building the van was crashing into was the local police station. Quite the loud sound the vehicle made as it collided with the structure; it broke through the doors and windows, and she could hear that some people were hurt... but at least no one was dead.
Mister Michael wouldn't like this... she thought sourly. She should learn how to stop vans next time.
"Miss Anna, can you call for the... emergency people..." her words trailed off as she noticed a new person entering the fray. Instinctively she blocked as the two of them--- and the people they had apprehended--- were peppered in a rain of bullets. Her speed allowed her to deflect most, although she had to use her body to prevent some from reaching the unconscious men. She endured the pain of a couple of bullet wounds.
A man whose fingers seemed to be the barrels of guns sneered at them. He stood beside the driver. "You have the money?"
"Y-yes!"
"I see. I'll deal with these upstarts."
Julia tensed as the driver went into the wreckage of the police station. It seemed they were in for a fight with this new person, who was not as run-of-the-mill as the driver and the rest.
