Could've been simple, but if it was, Ambrogio wouldn't be alive right now. When men play gods and try to warp the world to their will, nothing is ever simple. Ambrogio just longed for the love of a maiden who worked day and night tending to the temple for a powerful warlock. The maiden returned her love, but little did either know that the warlock also felt great affection for this maiden. In his envy and rage, he cursed Ambrogio with skin that would burn in the sun, which forced Ambrogio to flee from the temple in the desert lands. She left with a vow to return, but with the brutal terrain, returning wouldn't be easy. [break][break] Leaving her home for distant lands, she left the desert for the colder mountains where she came across a master of the dark arts. Desperate for some way to return home and flee with her love, she made a deal with the Master. With the vow that she would go on a dangerous quest to the nearby sacred forest and steal the bow from the nature spirit who guarded the place, she left behind her soul as collateral and made for the forest. For months, she did whatever she could to draw out the spirit. Protecting the forest herself, offering animals she killed to the spirit as tribute, or thanking the spirit for every bit of food Ambrogio had to take from the forest; for so long she did all she could do, up until a wild fire began and wiped out most of the woods. [break][break] Losing all of her supplies and nearly dying herself in the woods, she mourned and mourned. For the love she believed she lost, for the loss of her soul, the pain of the burns on her flesh, and the lost of the beautiful forest she had tried to care for for so long. Her cries echoed in the dark forest, only accompanied by the crackles of the remaining embers and sparks of the fire. She was all alone until the feeling of a gentle embrace came around her. Followed by the warm embrace, slowly the sight of the nature spirit she had been searching for came into view with a soft comforting light. The two sat in the burnt remains of the forest, speaking without words as the spirit read Ambrogio's being to understand what it was the troubled the woman who had been tending to her forest. [break][break] The deal with the Dark Arts Master was obviously there, but so were the reasons behind it and the emotions Ambrogio felt at that moment. The spirit was by no means a malevolent being, but understanding and protective of those it deemed worthy. After understanding Ambrogio's plight, the spirit offered her a deal of her own. While the spirit could not stop the curse that burned her skin, she could temporarily weaken Ambrogio's curse as well as bless her with immortality and the traits to make her a fierce hunter so she could return home and save her love. In return, Ambrogio was expected to return and help rebuild the weakened forest. If Ambrogio did not return by the following month's end, the spirit would take back it's blessings and Ambrogio would be doomed to burn on Earth and in Hell without her soul. [break][break] There was no arguing to be had with this arrangement. So Ambrogio left for her home and through many fierce battles, was able to reach her love. Barely returning to the forest in time, Ambrogio brought her maiden back to the spirit as promised and in turned, the spirit offered to help protect them as gratitude for protecting her forest as it'd slowly grow once again over the years to come. They all lived peacefully for many years within the forest as it bloomed once more. But with time comes age and also came the realization that while Ambrogio didn't grow a day older, her love grew and grew... Until she grew ill and weak. Ambrogio plead with the nature spirit to bless her love with the same immortality as her. The spirit was grateful for their efforts to help her forest, so she offered one last deal. [break][break] Using her fangs, Ambrogio was told to drain the blood from her lover, killing her mortal body, but with the mixture of their blood, Ambrogio's blood could grant any drinker an immortal life as well. With the assurance that Ambrogio and her love would be together forever this way, and with much pleading from her dying maiden, Ambrogio drained her lover dry. The blood filled Ambrogio's body, empowering her but in her arms was the lifeless body of the woman she loved. Her spirit rose from her body, and placed one final kiss to Ambrogio's lips before rising up to the sky. [break][break] The moon shined brighter that night as Ambrogio's lover became one with it. This was to be their eternity together it seemed, with Ambrogio basking in the warmth of her lover's light. It wasn't what she had wanted, but she was grateful for what she had. Many years went by as she continued to tend to the woods and as the woods grew, so did the amount of people that discovered it. She learned of new magics and found in herself the potential to learn them. She created more of her kind as time went by and eventually passed on her task of the guardian of the forest to one of her first vampire creations. With the blessing of her spirit, she left to explore the world and learn about what else had changed during her isolation. [break][break] Far more time than she expected had gone by during her living in the enchanted woods, surprisingly. Thousands of years that felt like so few to her had ticked away and she came to a world that knew little of magic and spirits. Hundreds of years she spent among the mortals, learning about them and their strange ways, meeting vampires of different kinds and actually hearing the word 'vampire' for the first time when she spoke to the 'humans' about myths and legends. Vampires were apparently monster though, a thing that confused her until she bared witness to the fledglings of another branch of vampires treat humans like toys and food, rather than treating them properly and delicately. It disturbed her and she kept her distance from those she did not create, isolating herself for the most part. Her time went from avoiding her kin though, to growing frustrated with the corruption she kept coming across. [break][break] After a long time, she finally began trying to take matters into her own hands. Taking down problematic parasitic vampires as well as humans that caused nothing but grief, she took it upon herself to start trying to clean the rest of the world and restore some sense of order. This struggle to do so may be a part of having no sense of self anymore, though. To avoid suspicion, over centuries, her name has changed, her face, her story, Ambrogio became Selene and Selene was determined to fix the world. It's a large and impossible task, she knows, but every problem wiped off is a step in the right direction, she thinks. They can also resist sunlight for short periods of time, but at the cost of weakening themselves for a period of time. Granted, even if Selene were to die, she will most likely come back to life after a period of time has passed. While some Vampire Lords possess demonic natures as well, Selene does not seem to have this trait anymore so she is unable to use the unholy powers that come with demonic attributes. [attr="class","subcat"]Vampire Physiology As a Vampire Lord, Selene also has the attributes of your basic vampire. Enhanced senses, agility, combat ability, strength and speed, that makes her an elite hunter. Her eyes are very sensitive to light though, which means she's easily blinded by daylight, but can see clear as can be in the dark of night. Being a nocturnal creature, she has an advantage over most fighters, but if she were to get injured, her natural regenerative healing factor would kick in and have most things from cuts to broken bones healed over night. She's even regrown limbs before, but those can take a lot of time to heal or regrow properly. [break][break] As far as her brand of vampire's limitations go, Selene is weakened by sunlight, but can die from lengthy exposure to it and a stake to her heart can paralyze her. Decapitations and fires are the most effective killing methods, though. [attr="class","subcat"]Vampirization Selene also has the ability to turn regular people into vampires by allowing a mortal to drink her enchanted blood. The process is quick but painful, and Selene rarely subjects people to it since she isn't really keen on the whole immortality thing herself. The vampires she creates are considerably weaker than herself as basic vampires. Easily killed by sunlight, stay dead when they're killed, and very sensitive to fire, they're not as resistant as her. However, they posses her enhanced capabilities and also must live off of the blood of others for the perk of being immortal like her. However, their blood does not have the magic quality her's does, so they are unable to create vampires themselves or manipulate their blood as she can. Any magic they know must be learned on their own accord as well. [attr="class","subcat"]Blood Manipulation The blood Selene possesses is magical in and of itself, and the blood she consumes also becomes magical in the same regard. It is one with herself and can be used as a weapon if need be through very precise manipulation. While she cannot control the blood within or from the body of another being, she is not one to hesitate being a pig and drinking more than she needs to ensure she has blood to spare within herself. The more blood she has, the stronger she is, essentially is how the story goes. She can make the blood into solid forms, like weapons to use to attack her foes. Even if the weapon is shattered, most of the blood can be reused to form the same or a new weapon altogether. [attr="class","subcat"]Shape Shifting From looking like different humans to taking on the forms of animals, Selene cannot suddenly become invisible, but she is able to take on the form of other living creatures to blend into her surroundings. With all forms she takes, it's merely just altering her looks - nothing else changes. She is also only limited into shifting into the form of mammals - so no aliens, fish, birds, or lizards. If her body is shred into small pieces, she has in the past her split form has taken on the form of a small pack of little bats to fly off for safety and come back together in safer lands. [attr="class","subcat"]Hypnosis More suggestive than controlling minds, Selene can only convince people to do things they'd already be willing to do with looser inhibitions. She can't make people kill each other, or rob banks if the person would never do so by choice. If someone were willing to wander off with a stranger into an alley for a little fun though, Selene has a far more easier time convincing the person to do this by bypassing most of the small talk to get to the point. This is just used to make blood drinking easier though, since most of the time the person doesn't remember anything they did while under her influence once she cancels the hypnotism. |
