the assignment said ‘training’ when it had shown up in his inbox, but jake is pretty damn sure that’s some dispatcher’s cute euphemism for what it really is: babysitting.
and hey, he’s not gonna start complaining. he takes the responsibility of role model, of older and more experienced hero more seriously than a heart attack, but what he resents is the weasel words of it. the reluctance to even tell him who had been assigned until they’d missed rendezvous. and then, well.
as much as the burning man incident has left jake with a quiet respect for everhart, it wasn’t enough to stop him marching straight into the younger man’s quarters and physically parting him and lee from their console to drag them bodily into the elevator. the atmosphere has been a little tense since, and that he gets - he himself has been stonily silent the entire short flight over, familiarising himself with the specs, playing with initial strategies, and he knows it’s not exactly approachable. they’re not kids so much as young men, but the lack of discipline pains him a little. okay, a lot.
lighten up, he reminds himself mentally, eyes on the sign as the car rolls up the drive. sanctuary. this is his first time here, and while he knows the floorplan he’s not familiar with the grounds, lines of sight, possible boltholes.
he nods to the driver as they roll to a stop, has the door open and is on his feet in a heartbeat, waiting for them. he’s not their drill sergeant, he needs to keep that in mind.
“we’re here off the books, so try not to make too much of a scene,” he begins, settling one strap of his rucksack over his shoulder. “initial scrying investigation came up empty on paranormals, so we have probable physical cause for the disturbances. main areas are the long-term patient quarters and the rec room. questions?”

Jakob couldn't wait to get better, just so he could get back to his fiance, and less stressful things. Thanks to his fine show of heroism he got a slight increase in pay, and of course he spent it on video games to play with Eun-ha while they had time off - aside from you know, wedding stuff. That being said, he wasn't planning on taking up more jobs, but when he was assigned to one with Sigma it wasn't as easy to get out of it. He barely put up a fight with the man when he'd interrupted his fun with his best friend, only because he feared he'd break something of his and god forbid he lose his cool over one of his systems or computers being destroyed. That would have been serious business. Still, not fighting back, he took his precious time whenever he got the chance. In his street clothes - jeans, sneakers, and a fitted grey long sleeve - he yawned periodically on their way to this 'place' or wherever it was they were headed. He was told at least five times already, but he had a loose memory when he was sleepy, and he was partially asking to agitate Sigma the Super Dad. He stuck closer to Eun-ha than he normally would for that very reason, just in case he needed a body shield. When they got out of the car it was all the more apparent as he stood just behind the dark haired young man. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, checked his messages, and idly began to text his fiance while Sigma then went on to explain their mission here. He didn't hear the full details, but he got the gist, at least some of it. "No ghosts then?" He muttered, glancing over at his friend before sighing, "I was looking forward to that." Still, creepy estate was still kinda cool. "Oh well." Jakob lifted his phone opened the camera app, and flashed a picture at the building just behind Jake, and Eun-ha. sigma, scarf

It’s not like he had anything better to do. While the two went through the burning man incident, Eun-ha himself had to deal with the super soldier serum in Russia. Although he didn’t get any increase in pay like Jakob, he at least seemed have to been off the hook for a week or two. Eun-ha had been using his free time neglecting his training, and instead catching up with his friends and playing video games. He hissed when the almighty Sigma barged in and introduced light into their cave of a room. Eun-ha did it purpose though, acting like a vampire because he sure feels like one. A vampire made of anime and video games that is. He was never the type to be so obsessed with these kinds of things, he used to be more social and outgoing back then, but there’s something so addictive about these. Still, when the time calls for them to hop outside, he’s obedient. While on their way to Lafayette, Eun-ha spent most of his time sleeping. Their esoteric hobbies have derailed his body clock greatly, in a manner much worse than ever. He used to stay up eighteen hours a day before being in the Initiative, so he could study and work for his brother’s expenses, but for some odd reason he has chosen to break that average for some virtual fun. Upon arriving, he’d remove his sleep mask, wiping some of his drool off with his sleeve. Eun-ha felt the ache on his neck, massaging it a couple of times before exiting the vehicle. The sudden lack of air-conditioning cued him to lose his hoodie, leaving him with a black tank top for his upper torso. He listened to their senior half-dazed, absorbing his words very slowly. “Wait, there were supposed to be ghosts involved?” he asked, darting his head’s direction at the two. He’s not exactly thrilled at the thought of meeting ghosts. The last time he met one, it turned to be a grotesque polymerized flesh golem of his parents. “Yeah, uh.. Can you like.. Brief me everything again. I sorta forgot.” sigma , G. Rush
