I'M waking up to Ash and dust 0225 words for Justitia OOC: APOLOGIES FOR THE SHORT/LATE POST. MUSE HAS BEEN COMING AND GOING. luso tried to make the time to celebrate his victory as the throw of his lunar spear rang true, but settled for a grimace as the dragon turned to face him (and, oddly enough, not justitia-- but at least he had made that opening they were looking for).
before he had the chance to recall longinus, the dragoon span in the air and dove straight downwards, accelerating his fall, chased by plumes of rolling dragonfire. he fiercely wove between flaming wreckage to make for the murky sea below, knowing he'd not be able to dart about in the air indefinitely. the hero dragged in a deep breath of half-air, half-smoke, and the dry heat of the air was quickly drowned out by saltwater.

Nothing. Nothing happened.
The spear struck home, and Lord Oberon was fortunately spat out, although flames quickly sought to engulf Mister Luso. The fae king's ward consumed most of the flames, and it seemed he was going to use those very flames to power his magic even more. The dragoon was going down, although knowing the lancer he would be back soon with another of his jumps. Meanwhile, all her contribution to the battle were two whacks to the dragon's head that he did not even feel.
She kept her balance as the dragon moved its head. Of course... of course she knew that the Phoenix Force, even if just a fragment, would not be banished so swiftly. Still... she had hoped for some sign, some glimmer of recognition from the reptilian thrall. Beyond the banishing of the influence, the only thing available to her was to beat the creature into submission... or... to use the Sword. True, the actions of the Phoenix Force were definitely unjust, resulting in the deaths of so many people... but it would take all of her strength... it was a trump card.
So, she had to try it, once more. They say it was a sign of foolishness to try again what didn't work... but perhaps repeated tries could get the result she was looking for. There was still Lord Oberon's spell... but she had to do what she could.
"Wake up, Ryou!" she said, out loud, this time, slamming the Scales once again on the dragon's head in succession.

The memory changed. He had two hands, two feet. Small, as were his arms, scrawny and young. In his sight, buildings towered around him, watching over with the haunting eyes of trees in a forest. He was alone, his small body sprawled over the hard cement. He was exhausted, dizzy and vomiting, never before feeling more helpless and vulnerable now, never before feeling more alive with the gaze of death boring on him. He cried, his feeble mortality tasting so true. He wished he had never left home.
But he remembered, like a clang of metal had snapped him out of his daze. He remembered this scene, this place. He remembered that this was a memory and that there was someone here for him. When he looked up, he saw her bending over to him, her face masked by shadow, the sun behind her head. A pink hair ribbon tie rolled around the bun of her hair.
Nana.V The fire balls exploded onto the dragon in gaseous bursts, but they were nothing more than a temporary distraction. The dragon had locked its glowing, molten-gold eyes on its target and was not going to be swayed by the lick of its own flames. So in suddenness, it lunged forth after the diving dragoon, its massive wings still as the dragon swiftly cut across the salty air and the cloak of smoke, and crashed headfirst into the sea like a dropped bomb. The strike pulsated across the panicked waves, the column of water that jumped into the sky reaching the lurking fighter planes. Underwater, the dragon reached for Boy Bahamut with its gaping mouth and crunched its teeth shut. It then rose back in the sky, where it was assailed by fae magic. The dragon was not about to make the same mistakes twice. It closed in on Oberon and whipped him with its powerful tail. OBERON

In one fell swoop everything changed.
Just a moment ago the fae king Oberon was weaving spells--- just a moment ago Mister Luso was dancing in the air. Then the dragon went after the lancer in one abrupt maneuver, dragon and dragoon plummeting like meteors towards the ocean's surface, and it took everything Julia had to hang on, until at last she could not, and she pushed herself off the dragon's scales in a jump much like the lunarian could. She had managed to get off at the last second--- and as she lingered upward in mid-air, the waves exploded into a gigantic ripple, and she was again preoccupied with not being consumed by the resulting pillar of water.
Almost as quickly the dragon rose again--- she could hear Mister Luso underwater faintly, but all she could gather was that he was alive--- and most likely injured. Then, even as the water fell back and she began to fall, she saw the dragon lash at the fairy, sending him into the distance. She kicked the rod that attached her scales yet again to direct herself back onto the dragon's back, even as the plummeting feeling weighed on her---
---she was alone.
She cannot help Mister Luso. Or Lord Oberon. There was only one who she could possibly help--- the drake in the sky.
In response, new strength and speed filled her, for the threat was indeed larger without allies to work with. She lanced through the air, recalling her weapon as she did so, retaking her spot at the dragon's back. She had tried twice. This was the third time. Hopefully it would be the last.
Much faster than the last time she traversed the dragon's scales, from the reptilian's back towards his head in the space of a breath. Again, she uttered the words, and again, she struck, much more strongly this time, that perhaps the dragon could feel it physically. Hopefully the strength would reach the fragment of the Phoenix she was intent on banishing, as well.
"Wake up! Ryou!"
[Strength and speed have been raised to approximately B-rank.]
OC: To Perun and KEEPER: Boy Bahamut has been bitten by the dragon and is underwater, and Oberon has been batted into the distance. They're both unconscious. They could be rescued by NPCs, or Keeper could do that first? ^_^

[attr="class","spc"] To put it bluntly, shit had hit the fan. She knew that simply from the fact she was being sent all over the place this month to try and deal with all sorts of messes caused by the growing Phoenix Force problem. Ricki – who was usually left in peace to work with students and live a normal life – was only called out when the normal interventions were not working and that seemed to be the case today. With Perun, or Zernebog , accompanying her today, they were on their way back from some other mission, actually. Seated on a ship cruising idly back towards Kingsport, they had had their time to rest and recover from the long mission on the yacht they were current on and it was simply a task of getting home, now. However, it would seem that their work wasn't done as the ship came alive with warnings, calls for help, and Initiative dispatchers quickly making calls for any kind of back up to come aid in a battle taking place nearby. A battle that caused harsh waves to shake the boat and force Ricki out of the nap she had been taking. Not long after the sudden awakening, members of the crew came running down to force her to stay awake and break the new about what was going on up ahead. The same treatment was offered to the more than likely awake Perun on the ship with her. Not bothering with changing from her sleep wear, her main focus was grabbing her communication device and moving it to her ear. Switching it on and flicking through channels while shoving on sandals, it'd take a few minutes for her to finally find the channel the comrades fighting up above were on and the things she heard were really not comforting in the slight. Grabbing the other com device and shifting it to the proper channel, she tossed it to Zernebog as she passed by him – who she hoped was getting ready himself at this point. As she started to make for the deck, crew members were already giving them a brief explanation of what was going down, Justitia, Boy Bahamut ,and Oberon were fighting a dragon that was very likely to be Ryou. The moment she came up onto the deck and had no obstruction overhead, she took in her first view of the battlefield and felt her heart stop for a brief moment when she saw in the distance Boy Bahamut suddenly fall into the water and shortly after be followed by Ryou's outlandishly large form. Before anyone could say anything in the moment of silence at the tense sight, Ricki would suddenly launch into the air from the ship's deck. The boat cruised along unaffected by her sudden take off, but that was to be expected with how weird the physics of the world bent to Ricki's will. Flying through the air in an over sized t-shirt and pajama pants, the incoming aid didn't look too promising at first. However, she didn't care for that as she raced toward the fight through the air. Though her flight plans had to change as Ryou suddenly took back up for the skies and whipped another one of the fighter's from the sky. Her descent was sudden but quick and aimed. Going for the water's surface, rather than suddenly sinking beneath it, Keeper landed and stood on the water's surface as if she were landing on a sandy beach. Her feet sunk down slightly, but she got her footing just in time for her to catch the incoming body of Oberon. The forces of gravity and the energy from Ryou's tail whip all suddenly warped to her will as Oberon got close and carefully landed on Ricki's arms with a soft 'thunk'. She was about to carry him back off to the boat, when various fae like creatures gathered around her in the waters. Glancing to their king and then the creatures, she handed him off and pointed towards where he needed to go. Thankfully they seemed to understand and with that, took off towards the boat Keeper had come from. Her focus went back to the dragon up in the skies. Finally, she spoke to allow Justitia to hear her. " Oberon is being taken back, where's Boy Bahamut? Where are you, Justitia?" she asked, moving along the water's surface towards some wreckage of a plane that had yet to be fully submerged in the water yet. Grabbing the edge of it, as if Keeper suddenly possessed super human strength, she pulled it from the water and with a quick spin to get some momentum built up, Keeper released the wreckage. It would go off into the air, flying towards Ryou to hopefully make an impact and get his attention brought to her and off of anything else he might be pursuing. At this point, Keeper would run up the edge of a wave and jump off of it to fly up into the sky with a gust of wind behind her. The dragon was still close by after whipping Oberon down, and Keeper seemed to have no issue with getting into it's field of view. She was most effective when she was getting attacked, since nothing could hit her, but she'd certainly send it flying right back or stop any assault dead in it's tracks. I DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T COME SOMETHING HAS TO MAKE YOU RUN. I FEEL AS EMPTY AS A DRUM.
[attr="class","crachel"]1187 words
Paralysis of Ryou with permission from Egao. Sorry this is so ungodly long. | From the moment Zernebog had felt the astounding mass of energy known as the Phoenix arrive on this planet, he knew that it would bring nothing but trouble despite what its chosen avatar once claimed to the world. In the end, he was proven right and things quickly went to shit. Both organizations he worked for were of the same mind to try and remove the Phoenix threat as fast as possible with the least amount of casualties (well one moreso than the other) so he was all over the place -practically all over the globe even- trying to help out one or the other. All the while, he was trying to make sure to keep his other missions discreet from the more public group, which meant that sometimes he vanished and sometimes he cheated by bending chrono-energy just a little bit to be able to be in two places at once. He didn’t know that worldwide disasters like this were this hectic and this tedious to tend to, especially with their slow as hell transports. Not even a teleporter or even a speeder in sight because the few ones that exist are being used by the owners. Damned inconvenience.
For a while now, he had been accompanying Ricki -oops, was he supposed to call her Keeper today? Well, it’s not like she ever bothered with disguises anyway so maybe he can call her by her real name in his head?- and they had just finished a long mission and were now relaxing on a boat. Not one to oversleep even while tired, he was up and going through a through a morning exercise routine that his mother taught him after eating a large cooked breakfast for a change instead of relying on draining power supplies or eating their packed food.
But just as he finished, the boat suddenly rocked violently as harsh waves suddenly appeared along with the feeling that there was plasma being thrown about far ahead pricking at his senses. In his surprise, he stumbled and had to hold onto the wall until the waves steadied. He didn’t quite get time to breathe as some of the crew members on the floor barged into his room and then gave him a situation report on what was happening ahead, namely that three people were currently engaging a dragon on the battlefield up ahead.
Well, fuck. He took a drink from the water bottle and then wiped the sweat from his torso before putting on a shirt and his sandals, not bothering to change from his workout shorts before going outside to head towards the deck. On his way there, he saw Ricki walking towards the deck as well while fiddling with something and then tossing it at him. Upon catching and realizing that it was a communication device, he put it in his ear as well and followed after her to the deck.
Once they were up there, they were treated to the sight of a figure falling into the water followed by a massive dragon almost the size of a Squiggoth that sources say was probably that Ryou guy. His jaw tensed at the sight, but said nothing as Ricki launched into the air from the deck. Instead, his eyes took on an eerie blue glow as he manipulated his own electricity and the magnetic field of this part of the planet to allow him to fly after her towards the site of the battle, albeit at a slower pace than Ricki.
He was intending to dive into the water directly once he had gotten there at first, but then the dragon flew out of it and batted away someone like it was a fly. His plans almost changed until he noted that the initial figure who had crashed into the water was still not getting up, prompting him to curse quietly and continue diving in, pulling back in his electricity right before contact. He then swam down with his electricity enhancing his speed and strength to make it faster and dragged Boy Bahamut out of the water. He then gave the guy’s body to the faes, saying that him and the other guy were allies of the guy they were carrying off so that they would take him. He then asked for a boost back into the air, which they gave by tossing him up towards the dragon.
Once he was airborne, he took control of the magnetic field of the Earth and made it interact with his own electrical field to allow him to fly and more importantly control his flight path again. He started to slow his trajectory down, thanking the gods that his comm was still intact after being waterlogged while not caring that he was dripping wet. How’d he know? Because he had heard her voice through it.
”If Boy Bahamut is the white haired guy, then he’s safe and being escorted out of the water.” He piped up. ”You two please keep him busy for a bit while I work on restraining him, okay?” That was all he said before stretching out his senses and focusing on the dragon being fought and zeroing in on the bioelectricity that flowed through and triggered the dragon’s nerves.
He spent several moments analyzing the flow of the nerves and where they led, happy that their quick speed allowed such quick analysis. With their routes visualized, he now knew roughly what to shut down without risking killing him by accidentally freezing his heart or something, because he had a feeling that both of these people would be pissed if he did that by accident. Hopefully his guess was right though as he was only estimating based on previous creature and human anatomy and hoping that he got the area's right based on behavior. Normally he wouldn’t even do this and just shut down the entirety of it and not have bothered to analyze, but Keeper tended to hate deaths so….
After another several moments of complete silence on his end, he raised his hand up in a stopping gesture. It was mostly a symbolic one for dramatic effect and to cue the two in just in case they were looking at him. ”Prepare to catch him.”
In the next moment, he exerted his will on the dragon’s internal bioelectricity and bade it to stop moving in most places, stopping signals from moving from the brain to anywhere else on its body except for hopefully its lungs. The bioelectricity in the nerve cluster in its heart was left alone as its pace was dictated by the nerve cluster and not the brain anyway, or so the analysis told him. If all went well, the dragon would have lost all control on its limbs and most of its body aside from breathing, becoming completely unable to move.
He hoped it worked, because he hoped that he didn’t have to rupture the dragon’s nerves from the inside out just to make it stop because other methods were either not available or posed too much of a risk on water, especially extremely conductive water like seawater. |

“Nana, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.” His small form quivered like a body wrapped in winter. Two streams rushed down his wet, icy blue eyes. “I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I...” A wretched noise ripped from his throat. He bit into his teeth, his mouth trembling, swallowing the sorrow inflating from his lungs. “I...I...!” His expression emptied and changed. Two gold, molten orbs beamed from where her eyes should be, overflowing out of the shadow of Nana's face like running lava. He couldn't look away from the glow. It kept his eyes still. It kept his body in place.
From somewhere, in the boundless space of his mind, was an echo calling out to him. For an instant, the ocean of his psyche lied calm and still, allowing the single ripple to travel and eventually touch his senses. VI After taking care of two of the heroes, the dragon had suddenly gone still in the air. Deep within the glowing gold of its eyes, its balls had moved to the side, detecting, at last, Justitia who had been on its head all this time. It brandished a gaping mouth lined with thick, sharp teeth. The Phoenix Force was not going to allow the woman to banish it from its host. Flying from the sea, the ship debris crashed and splintered as easily as a stick on the dragon's black scales. It did not look away from Justitia. She had now proved to be a bigger threat. With Boy Bahamut's spear still piercing the side of its throat, the dragon twisted to its back and, slicing through the air, dived headfirst for the sea once more, abandoning Keeper in the sky. The dragon lunged powerfully into the waters with a booming crash, a second water column, hundreds of feet tall, rocketing up, tides swelling out in giant waves from its location. Beneath the surface, fishes bolted away from the massive creature slowly descending down the depths. The creature, the dragon, was falling lifelessly, its body conquered as it had hit the sea. The dragon's unblinking eyes stared through the darkness with its gold, molten eyes. For a moment, the light dimmed and the eyes twitched. There was a pulse. A shock wave beat from the limp dragon. Above, the waves grew in unrest. The converging dark clouds brought an obsidian shroud over the sea, covering it in total blackness. Air bubbled out of the dragon's mouth. In the next breath it made, its heart loudly beating, ice cracked into the water. The sea came to life. Massive, spiraling columns of water drilled fast into the air. As they rose a hundred feet up, their bodies froze into ice, stabbing those on its path with the tip of a frigid blade. When all the water pillars have been raised and frozen, a mist of visible white air floated above the waves. It was quiet. It was still. Then, in the blindingly dark sea, there was light – brighter than any star, hotter than any color – bursting from under the restless waves. The Phoenix Force, creator of all life, with its blessing on its mind-controlled servant, restored the lost functions in the dragon's body. Shooting out from the sea, the dragon rose in a body of flames spread like that of a phoenix. Night had turned back to day with the blazing dragon as its sun. But the burst of strength soon left the mythical beast, allowing the night to reclaim its place. When the shroud had covered in once more, the dragon attacked with its teeth, going for its closest prey. g7RquG_K > 50 ryou attacks perun; < 50 ryou attacks keeper Justitia

The dragon finally responded to her, charging towards her. However, she did not know if it was because she was the last target left, or because her efforts were having an effect. She jumped off from the dragon's head, kicking it as she did so, and twisted in the air to evade its maw.
...and reinforcements came, just in time. As she fended the beast in mid-air, slamming her scales at the dragon's nose to prevent his fangs from reaching her, the comms burst with new voices--- well, she could hear them without the comms, anyway. "Miss Richelle! Mister Zernebog!" she replied. "It is good that you are here. I'm... fighting Ryou." she said. "He seems intent on biting me." So intent, in fact, that Keeper's wreckage projectile was completely ignored in favor of her.
...and then, as unpredictably as ever, the humongous reptilian changed tact. The drake dived yet again, and Julia had to maneuver again, kicking her scales in mid-air and summoning it repeatedly, in order to evade yet another pillar of seawater. Momentarily Julia realized that it must be... Mister Zernebog's work. So he could do it too with large dragons? That was promising. Still, she was rather sure this was not the end of it... even as she drifted down, spinning her scales to weaken her descent.
The sea was transformed. Magic? More water, not a result of the dragon's crash, came for them, freezing into humongous spears of ice reaching for them. Julia crushed the column coming for her with one quick swipe, blunting the drill into a plateau, upon which she landed.
"I've been trying to get the Phoenix Force out of his system with my scales." she said through the comms, to get the two newcomers up to date. "I'm not sure if it's working, but I'm going to continue trying!" She looked into the frozen waters. Should she dive in to strike Ryou again? Or...
"Ah, here he comes again." Of course the Phoenix Force would get rid of Mister Zernebog's paralysis. It couldn't be that easy.
She jumped from the plateau to close the distance with the dragon, again. It was going for the electrokinetic.
