[attr="class","eheart"] onikori [attr="class","eheartpost"] This was not how Brook envisioned spending his afternoon.
He darted in and out of the crowd, avoiding running into any people and slowing down his pace if possible. All Brook wanted to do was go home and eat some leftovers in the fridge and finish up the project that was due in a couple of days. But, of course being in the Initiative, that wasn't possible. Before he could have even opened the leftover carton, Danny had barreled in with the his cellphone in hand and said there was a escapee from one of the science centers.
Of course, when Danny brought that up, he had no choice but to shove the carton back in the fridge and grab the apartment keys. With such vague details, he couldn't leave Danny alone. And so, here he was now, weaving in and out of the crowd to find... a rabbit. A God damn rabbit. It wasn't a person, it was a rabbit. Brook questioned Danny and asked if someone didn't mess up the numbers, this sounded like a job fit for animal control. But he insisted it was a genetically modified rabbit. Brook would believe it when he saw it.
And well, he saw it alright. It didn't take them that long to find a rabbit the size of a dog, according to the scientists back at the lab, the more you fed it the more it grew. And Danny was a little too eager to test that out. "Danny, stop feeding it or else we'll never be able to carry it back." Brook said, groaning as the rabbit suddenly grew at least 5 lbs after inhaling something Danny had given it.

[attr="class","lucystarsd"]Tweets ran rampant across social media. Headlines: Adorable Growth Spurt Rabbit Spottings! It was an eye-catcher of a title that Danny couldn't turn away from. Gifs of the escapee rabbit were already being posted online by carefree pedestrians, all unaware of the rabbit's potential for endless growth.[break][break]
Rabbit lovers gossiping about the dog sized rabbit aside, the news released an official statement about the event: do not feed the genetically engineered rabbit at all costs. [break][break]
Maybe that detail was overlooked when Danny stuffed his pockets with all of the limited vegetables he could find in the fridge with his stunned roommate staring at him in the background. Luring the rabbit closer to them with food was an ingenious plan! Only someone with Danny's caliber of skills and technique could truly come up with something like this. [break][break]
"Awww, you like your wittle canned carrots, don'tchuuuu? Yesss. Good rabbit. Good bun bun." Despite not having a can opener, thankfully at least a few of the canned veggies Danny brought along had a little tab that could easily be pulled up to pop the lid open. The others were useless. Moments later, the rabbit's legs wobbled as the creature put on an extra 5 lbs like a chubby husky. [break][break]
"Carry it back...? Wait. Brook. BROOK. Are we keeping it?!" Danny jumped back towards Brook with sparkling eyes, feet unable to contain their joy as he hopped from foot to foot. "What do we even name it? Larry? Ziggy? Um." Names were hard, but keeping the rabbit in one place was even harder. The curious crowd that started to gather around with cell phones and cameras in hand left the rabbit feeling awfully trapped and cramped, and with its ears suddenly straightening up in alarm, it bounced right past Danny and Brook and scampered across the street. Cars blared their horns in fury as they slammed the brakes, nearly avoiding a furry collision as the rabbit ran even faster in terror.[break][break]
"Hoo, boy. That's not an easy chase. Let's see. What's over in Dearly street?" Danny checked his handy dandy map app on his phone as he started jogging after the rabbit, careful to weave around the irate drivers that were just starting to recover from previous encounter. "Crap. BROOK. BROOOK. The rabbit's heading towards..." A car blared its horn as it slammed the brakes, avoiding a DAN-llision as Danny finally crossed the street. [break][break]
Hopefully Brook heard him, cause Danny caught sight of the dog sized rabbit attracting a TON of little kids with snacks for their fuzzy friend. [break][break]
"aaaAAA NONONO DON'T FEED IT THAT MUCH." Danny gaped, frantically waving his arms left and right as a few children fed the rabbit the scraps of their lunches. It didn't take long for the fascinated children to stare at the rabbit in awe as it grew 3 inches, now resembling a fun rabbit pony to climb and ride.

[attr="class","eheart"] onikori [attr="class","eheartpost"]He paused when Danny seemed excited about keeping the rabbit. "No, definitely no. We're not keeping a rabbit that grows with everything you feed it. Danny, the two of us barely have room in one apartment as it is, how could we handle a pet?" Brook stated. Although it seemed like Danny was already trying to give it names. He stared down at Danny and the rabbit. Imagining him trying to take care of a pet, or another life for that matter, was something Brook just couldn't do. Maybe something small like a fish or something aquatic that didn't require a lot of attention. "Maybe a Beta Fish later on, but right now we just have to take it back to the lab, got it?" Brook said. However, getting distracted on the subject of a pet was probably not the best idea.
A crowd started to gather around them, curious murmuring and flashes from cameras and phones scared the rabbit too much. It scampered away, nearly knocking Brook over as it jumped past him and Danny and into the streets. Thankfully, Brook had been paying attention and leaned back as the now dog sized rabbit ran away. Danny pulled out his phone and a map and proceeded after the rabbit, Brook rolling his eyes but started following closely behind.
He waved his hand at each of the cars that he ran in front of, not even bothering to look at them and say sorry. Brook was more focused on keeping Danny in his sights. Since becoming roommates with him, Brook learned that he couldn't look away for a couple of moments. He was always on the move, constantly moving forward. In hindsight, he and Brook were opposites when it came to personality, but somehow they worked out as friends. Deep down, Brook was pretty happy to have the dork as his friend, there was never a boring day. But then there were days like these, where they were chasing down a mutant rabbit in the streets, and Brook just wanted to go home and eat his leftovers.
The car's horn jolted Brook out of his thoughts, stumbling to a stop. The driver looked at him angrily and flipped him off, mumbling something about stupid kids running into the streets. Brook ignored the driver and hopped over the car trunk, catching up to Danny and jogging up beside him. "What was that? The rabbit's running into a what --- Oh." Once Brook had finally caught up to Danny, he knew that this was going to be a long day.
The rabbit was sitting in the middle of a group of kindergartners, most of which decided to give it scraps of their lunches. Danny was doing his best attempts to shoo the kids away, but like any kid, they were persistent and kept coming back. The rabbit was now steadily growing to the size of a miniature horse, and there was no way that they could carry it back to the lab now. They'd have to lead it back with a carrot on a stick. But first thing was first, get the noisy kids away from it.
"Alright, play time's over, go back to your parents or something." Brook said, shooing away the kids. A few of them whined and stomped their feet, stating they wanted to ride the pony rabbit. The rabbit nibbled on whatever was left on the ground, growing a couple of more inches and gaining a few more pounds. He gently lead the kids away from the rabbit and directed them back to the main play area. Once he came back, Brook iced whatever feet was left on the ground, preventing the rabbit from eating anymore. Instead, it proceeded to lick the ground, rather interested in the ice cubes that now scattered the ground.
Brook slowly looked down at Danny, then back to the rabbit. He crossed his arms and sighed. "Any ideas how to get it back now?"

[attr="class","lucystarsd"]Was Danny good with kids? Sometimes. But when he was, it wasn't because they saw him as a reliable adult. Even now, they thought he was being a rude teenager and started ignoring him for the sake of playing with the bunny. It was a chip against the big ol' ego block for sure, but thankfully Brook was here to resolve things. Danny might've been the older one, but Brook at that general atmosphere of looking like he knew what he was doing. The kids listened to the snow man almost as if he was Santa.[break][break] Though honestly, Brook could've been a lot more graceful about it in Danny's opinion. The most Danny could to was help tug a child or two off the rabbit with an awkward laugh, letting Brook clean up the rest of the mess on the ground. Even with small things like playing keep away with the food on the ground, ice powers sure came in handy.[break][break]
"You say a Betta fish now...but someday we'll work our way up to a python. And THEN a giant rabbit. That way the python can't eat the rabbit and we're all happy." He was just rambling at this point, content with his day dreamy pet au until his roommate brought up a blaring problem.[break][break]
How were they supposed to bring this thing back to the lab now? [break][break]
"Uh. Right. So..." On instinct, Danny yanked out his phone so he could at least google the lab's address. It was roughly a 30 minute walk away from here, and from the looks of things, this rabbit wasn't going to just fit in your average cab. "I got it. Use your ice powers to, get this, make an ICE TRUCK. We put the rabbit in the back and we roll our way to the lab. Genius." Except Danny was 80% sure Brook's powers didn't work like that, but that didn't stop him from bringing it up.[break][break]
"Or, ya know...I can use my powers to turn you into a rabbit magnet. Are you a rabbit person? I don't think you're a rabbit person, but I can work with this." Rubbing the bottom of his chin with a contemplative hum, he circled around Brook until he eagerly stared his BEST BUDDY OL PAL in the face. [break][break] 'Please go with the rabbit magnet idea', Danny's expression pleaded with all the hope he could muster in one smile. [attr="class","eheart"] onikori [attr="class","eheartpost"]Danny sure had some high hopes for getting a pet. Brook glanced over at him with a raised brow. He didn't want a normal pet like a fish or a dog, he wanted to aim high and get that dog sized rabbit. He shook his head slightly, hiding the slight smile that was forming on his face. No matter the situation, Danny always had a knack for making it a little bit lighter. He switched gears though, pulling out his phone and checking to see where the lab was.
Whatever was left of the smile was gone now and replaced by a slight frown. By the look on Danny's face the lab was a little ways away. He slowly stared back down at the rabbit, who was trying to gnaw its way through the ice to get to some food that was frozen underneath it. The rabbit wasn't going anywhere, which was both a good and bad thing. It was too large to fit inside a car, and carrying it was definitely not an option either.
His thoughts were interrupted when Danny suggested a... ice truck. Brook paused and slowly turned on his heels to look at Danny. Part of him wondered where Danny got some of these ideas. The funny part was that this wasn't even his weirdest idea to date either. "I'm not capable of making a mobile ice truck." Brook replied. He tried to let Danny down as easy as he could, sometimes his roommate could get overly excited about a concept and then Brook couldn't live up to his expectations.
And then Danny attempted to use his powers on Brook again. Used to it by now, Brook watched with a flat stare. "Fifth attempt this week, nice try and a good try at that, but not happening." He patted Danny's head for a good attempt though. For one reason or another, Danny kept wanting to use his powers on Brook. Ever since their reunion after high school, it's been one of Danny's personal goals. And Brook has denied it pretty much every single time. Attracting attention from people was something Brook didn't really want to do.
As Danny continued to circle him, Brook stared at the rabbit in thought. Then, an idea came to him. "A ice truck won't work, but I could always try summoning a solider to carry it back. It might freak out at the cold touch though. Did you have any other ideas?" It was the best option they had really. The only downside was that Brook's summons were made purely of ice. The rabbit might not like being carried by a literal ice block and try to escape, but what other choice did they have?

[attr="class","lucystarsd"]"Nyehhhh." With a flat tone, that was all he could say about the rejected ice truck idea. It was worth a shot suggesting, but that left them stuck with finding an alternative method. [break][break]
An alternative method, which by the way, Brook easily sideswiped despite Danny's wide-eyed hopeful stares and pleas. Returning the head pat with a disappointed whine, Danny quickly smoothed back his ruffled hair and returned his attention to the pacified rabbit. "Someday I'll win you over. You'll be everyone's prince charming, only to be one upped by me." Danny could dream, and he dared to dream big.[break][break]
He mulled over the ice soldier plan, also thinking that rabbits and ice generally didn't mesh together. But again, did they really have much choice here?[break][break]
"It's kind of hard coming up with ideas when you gotta consider the cars and pedestrians." He slowly admitted, mentally crossing off his ideas to lure the rabbit with bait or run amuck with a carrot on a stick. [break][break]
And then it hit him.[break][break]
Sheer brilliance flashed upon his face like an ethereal awakening, and he clapped his hands together at the eureka moment. "Brook." His voice hoarse with excitement, he coughed to clear his throat and tried again. "Dude. I got it. We make the rabbit BIGGER...turn it into a rabbit mount, and then we ride it to victory! I mean, the lab. Of course I volunteer to ride the noble steed." He grinned widely, eager to win Brook's approval with this daring new plan of his. It would be just like the MMOs Danny swore that Brook played when he wasn't looking. [attr="class","eheart"] onikori [attr="class","eheartpost"]Brook quirked a brow at Danny. He really was determined to get win him over some day. "I look forward to your attempts." He said, the hint of amusement in his voice. Danny's shenanigans were fun sometimes. Sometimes. It depended on the plan. There had been many plans that just out right irritated Brook, but he had done them with silly intentions in mind, so he couldn't stay mad at Danny forever.
He nodded in agreement. The pedestrians, cars and crowded area made this entire situation a bit more difficult. Sentinel Hill was just busy 24/7, making it hard for superheros to do anything without causing damage of some type. It was a home to villains too, the busy life made it a perfect target for whatever plan. It had been rather quiet recently, however. Something Brook had been silently thankful for.
Suddenly, Danny got a look on his face. A look Brook knew all too well. Then, he began explaining his plan. Danny's eyes sparkled with excitement as he explained. And... well, Brook had to admit, it wasn't that bad of a plan. It was a risky plan, but there was a risk with the ice soldier too. He stared back at Danny with a surprised expression, blinking at the other hero and crossed his arms. Bringing a hand up to his chin and looking at the rabbit in thought, Brook slowly nodded in approval. "It's not that bad of a plan. If it starts getting out of control though, I'll have to ice it over. I don't think we want a horse sized rabbit throwing a tantrum in the middle of the streets." It was like trying to tame a wild animal in an MMO. Not like he knew anything about that though.
"Are you sure you're gonna be able to ride and control it? It's gonna end up getting pretty big." Brook asked, slightly concerned. The rabbit's strength probably grew with its size. There wasn't any real reason to ride it either, since they could just walk in front of it with the food, but Brook couldn't really crush all of Danny's hopes today. Granting him this one little victory seemed harmless in theory, but this was Danny he was dealing with.

[attr="class","lucystarsd"]Ice it over. It almost sounded pleasant from the way Brook described it. Icing the rabbit over like putting icing on a cake, or wrapping the rabbit up in a fluffy, snow laden blanket. Nope. That wasn't gonna be the reality, was it? Danny looked miffed as he imagined his bunny friend frozen like a caveman, which he assumed was Brook's backup plan. "I like my plan more. The bunny likes it too. Ain't that right...Carrot Pie?" He settled on Carrot Pie as a fitting name, possibly because all of this food was making him hungry. "Just need to get him to noble steed size. Then we RIDE." Patting Carrot Pie's fuzzy cheeks, Danny eased the rabbit's nerves with a few carrots up his sleeve. [break][break] Within a few minutes, Carrot Pie's legs stretched farther as fat and muscle rapidly built itself around the extending skin. Carrot Pie jumped, startled at the sudden pain that shot through its body, and started to run off again. Unfortunately, it had yet to adjust to its new height and weight and found itself collapsing on the sheet of ice that coated the ground. [break][break]
Danny took that as a chance to hop right on the rabbit's back. It was awkward at first, because Carrot Pie stiffened at the heavy weight on its back. Thinking it was under attack, it chirped and started to buck and flail wildly like a bull seeing red. "CARROT PIE. EASY. EASY, LITTLE--ER, BIG GUY. EASY." It was not easy straddling his legs against the rabbit's backside, with his hands struggling to grip the scruff of the rabbit's neck for balance. Where the fuck was the mutant rabbit saddle shop when he needed it?[break][break]
Gentle strokes against the rabbit's head weren't enough to pacify the creature, so Danny tried lowering his voice to a soothing whisper. "Carrot Pie~ Sweetie. It's ok. Danny bear's here to take you home. Isn't that right...Sugar Brook?" He hesitated on the nickname as if he realized that Brook could torment him with an ice storm if he ever took the teasing too far. That didn't stop him from rolling with it.[break][break]
Carrot Pie did calm down to the point where Danny could contently sit on the rabbit's back, but getting it to move the way Danny wanted was another story. He tried gently probing the rabbit by tapping his feet against the rabbit's sides, but the most it did was get Carrot Pie to stand alert. "Hm...I can do this, I swear. Once I figure out the controls..." Danny mumbled, trying a bizarre combination of tugging the rabbit's fur and attempting to steer the rabbit by turning its ears.[break][break] [attr="class","lucysund"] [attr="class","lucyspaced"] [attr="class","lucywcredit"]MADE BY LUCY OF WW[newclass=.lucyskyd]background-color: #333; width: 350px; padding: 15px; border-top: 4px solid #EDECEC;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucymoond]font-family: arial; font-weight: 700; font-size: 7px; text-transform: uppercase; text-align: center; line-height: 100%; width: 350px; letter-spacing: 2px; color: #EDECEC; position: relative; margin-top: 5px; background: #333; padding: 5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucymoond a]font-family: arial; font-weight: 700; font-size: 7px; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 2px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucywhisperd]font-family: arial; font-weight: 700; font-size: 70px; text-transform: uppercase; text-align: center; line-height: 100%; width: 350px; letter-spacing: -5px; color: #FC995E; margin-left: -180px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucystarsd]overflow: auto; height: 170px; text-align: justify; padding: 10px 10px 0px 10px; color: #EDECEC; font-size: 11px; font-family: calibri; line-height: 13px; [/newclass] [newclass=.lucystarsd::-webkit-scrollbar]background-color: #e7e7e7; width: 9px; height: 9px; border: 4px solid #333;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucystarsd::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background-color: #EDECEC; border: 3px solid #333;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucysund]width: 80px; height: 80px; border-radius: 100%; margin-bottom: -50px; margin-right: 30px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucysund img]width: 80px; height: 80px; border-radius: 100%; border: 15px solid #333;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucyspaced]background-color: #FC995E; width: 380px; height: 25px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucywcredit]font-size: 9px; font-family: calibri; opacity: 0.6; text-align: right; width: 380px;[/newclass] [newclass=.lucywcredit a]font-size: 9px; font-family: calibri;[/newclass]

[attr="class","eheart"] onikori [attr="class","eheartpost"]"Carrot Pie?" Brook questioned. The nicknames that Danny came up on the spot sometimes. They were unique and creative at least, sometimes amusing. Although he'd never admit that to Danny. Brook would never hear the end of it if he complimented Danny legitimately. There were times where Danny did honestly deserve praise though, and those times he didn't pass up either. As long as it didn't go straight to Danny's ego, some praise here and there were fine.
Carrot Pie (he might as well call it something) suddenly grew again when Danny fed it the remaining carrots. The rabbit wasn't able to adjust in time though. Carrot Pie ran off again, darting past Brook. However, it didn't get far. Brook watched and cringed a little bit as it ended up collapsing on the sheet of ice that coated the ground. Struggling to find its balance and soon had the weight of Danny on its back as well. The combination of ice, plus growth spurt, plus Danny weight was not a good combination, and it began to buck to try and get Danny off.
Hands raised and ready to ice the rabbit over, Brook hovered near. A rabbit icicle wasn't in their future though, a frozen Danny was possible though. He shot a look at Danny, one that he probably knew all too well. The 'Are you kidding me with the nickname?' look. That one was a classic. Brook didn't complain outwardly this time though, it appeared to do the trick. But then Carrot Pie just stood there. Danny tried getting it to move but nope, it just stood there.
He jogged over to the side of the rabbit, looking high up at Danny atop of it. "Try leaning the direction you wanna go and like patting it a bit. Encourage it to move. You know, 'let's go' or 'let's get moving'." Brook suggested. Not like he knew how to ride a mount or anything. It was just an idea that came to mind.

[attr="class","lucystarsd"]Heeding Brook's advice, Danny first stroked Carrot Pie's head in an attempt to calm it down. The calmer it was, the easier it would be to convince it to move around. Nervous after their last stumble, he started leaning forward with his feet gently bumping against the rabbit's thighs. "Giddy up up and at'em?" He coaxed, transfixed on the mount's every movement as it started to hop forward. So far, so good. He stroked behind Carrot Pie's ear as a reward.[break][break]
"Good bunbun. Good bunny hun. Now...go sic Brookie Pookie." He didn't know what would happen, but since he was leaning towards Brook, the rabbit then made a single hop towards Brook. "Nice! Carrot Pie, you're so clever. Too clever. You must've graduated from clever school, which is school for rabbits. You know?" He joked, clearly getting a kick out of this.[break][break]
But two small hops in the right direction wasn't enough. They needed to take this rabbit home before it become too much of a problem, and moving at a turtle's pace was as boring as watching static on TV. [break][break]
He leaned further against the rabbit's head and tapped its sides again with his feet, encouraging it to do anything in that direction as long as it was FAST. It was as fast as it was sudden as Carrot Pie jumped into a newfound burst of speed with its recently jacked up muscles, causing Danny to nearly fly off the rabbit's back with a yelp as it bounced over a parked car. "YEEE HAWW!" Now THIS was what Danny wanted! Riding a sort of controllable monster rabbit across the streets because he was a good hero. He could get PAID for this nonsense. NICE. [break][break]
Getting halfway across the street on rabbit made for a nice change of pace for the mission, but crossing the street proved to be a difficult issue. Cars were honking, people walking dogs that were barking, and Carrot Pie was dropping a trail of tiny shits whenever something made its heart race. At least Brook could find them in the least fashionable way possible in case something happened to them, so Danny couldn't complain too much. [break][break]
"So...the little guy's home should be around this area. But this part's gonna suck with traffic like this." Danny remarked with an uneasy sigh. If only Carrot Pie was big enough to simply jump over it all... if only, Danny thought again with a mischievous smirk.[break][break]
