| SHEYDA ROSTAM | 42 | MALE | WORKSEXUAL | CIVILIAN INITIATIVE EXECUTIVE | JUSTICAR FACTION
|
| Sheyda is a social butterfly, with a knack for remembering names and small detail, particularly should he see possible future benefit from it. Despite a busy schedule, he does his best to talk it up with people in the halls of the Initiative, no matter their position, and would likely have casual, but friendly relationships with colleagues and heroes both. With an interest in company effiency, he will take it upon himself to ensure any of the registered heroes either receive the aid or equipment they need, and has been known to invite some to his office to discuss matters, whether they be positive or negative. He is often out and about attending all manner of meetings and events, and does his best to mingle, especially as a relative newcomer to the country. It never hurts to have contacts in all walks of life, and he certainly is not one to look down on others.
| | His high position in the Initiative inevitably means that the villainous types are his natural enemy. Whether or not they would see him as a target to openly attack is up to them, but be warned: he has armed security. Granted that he abhors chaos in all forms, he is against vigilantes too, even as he deeply admires what they are trying to do. Their presence stands as a barrier to the ability of the city to function at the peak it can. Closer to home, there may be those within the Initiative itself that may be against his appointment and beliefs, and even more so against the methods in which he would see them deployed. His hardline business structure of effiency and regulation may be loved by (most of) the board, but when implementing it on the field, heroes may not be so enamoured. Firmly within the Justicar camp, nothing trumps acting for the greater good, even if that means having to restrict activity or, should it come to that, loss of life. To be clear, this is not something he strives for, but if it is a step on the path to a safer Kingsport and the fall of villainy, so be it.
| | Sheyda's romantic life is complicated. He is, first and foremost, married to his work, like a sailor to the sea. He eats, sleeps, and breathes his living, and so, has never given romance a thought. The dates his family and colleagues set him up on were nothing but lovely meals with charming ladies, but he couldn't say he ever thought of them again, except when sending out Eid gifts. Much to his parents' dismay, he wasn't one to give in-laws or grandchildren. This is what he thought back home, in Iran. Since moving to America, he has found himself complicated by people - men - pursuing him. He had no issue with this religiously, but he was instead rather dumbfounded by it. And then he discovered that it was mutual. Despite this, he is not looking for a partner; he has too much work to do. Update: Sheyda has an on-off sexual relationship with sigma and is quite infatuated with him, but is open to be pined after if you're into him! | | Possible plot points I've thought about: - Anyone who works in the Initiative and wants to have a lovely watercooler chat, let me know!! He's busy, but he likes talking to people.
- Any heroes who would like to be called up to his shiny office and talk out good things/be chewed out, that would be great.
- Perhaps meeting others at an event or gala of some sort? I'm trying not to get too detailed because I can go on, BELIEVE ME

Meet Thalia. She's one of the Initiative's poster children and has been with the organization since its founding.
She's also a hardcore member of the Defenders faction, and probably not quiet or political (in the Initiative, at least, to outsiders is a different story) about her criticisms of the Initiative, so there's that.

sheyda: This is Jack. He's a kid who's adopted by the mafia, and he kinda is trending distrust towards superpowered people so I think it'd be cool to have him meet normal people working for them to level out his thinking?
I guess Jack is gunna have a childish fit after finding out he's got the power to pull strings related to Arkham since he's p sore about that, so if you wanna have this lil kid yelling at the dude who usually yells at people, lemme know.
Also I have delta, SS-ranked villain, and Sheyda might be aware of that, so that's a possible point of conflict? Delta doesn't actually do anything villainous, though. He just refuses to sign on, which probably got exasperating since it has been going on for a while. So he got 'villain' stamped all over his records lol.
If possible they could meet at a gala or something? The Eltanins are an ancient honorable/noble family that kinda just faded away, so Iskander showing up at some sort of dinner (also bc it's the season, iftar maybe ...) would probably be a '!!' moment for the Initiative because he's a shut-in lol. And then a villain just strolling around the gala (even if he's promised to never leave Kingsport) is probably going to get him barrelled down by security lmao.

In this whole wide wicked world the only thing you have to be afraid of, is me.

sheyda & RAVENNA ;; GALA MEETING TAKE DOWN. Raven is an assassin and being as Sheyda is big man, theres bound to be a potential hit on him. I feel like Raven would try and seclude the man albeit he's being crowded by guard's she would take them down but end up failing getting to Sheyda somehow like slipping on a banana peel. almost ripping a priceless painting or smthing and she stops and they just talk it out. "Hey ur not so bad even tho i just killed all ur guards ur p gucci" and leaves. Or maybe idk, they could meet up l8ter for tea and maybe tell hi who put the hit on them for money >>

GREETINGS HOOT IM ALL UP IN YR BUSINESS DEAL WITH IT im slowly falling apart pls hold me
sheyda! SHEYDA AND MY HEROES. voodoo IS A SMALL YOUNGSTER WITH TERRIBLE JUDGEMENT PLEASE TALK HER OUT OF HER NECROMANCY RESEARCH IT IS PROBABLY REALLY NOT A GOOD THING FOR HER TO BE DOING
ADDITIONALLY, sigma. he is one of the few ppl in the initiative who is an actually responsible adult so tbh he is probably a joy to work with as far as sheyda is concerned. however he's p much refusing to take a side on the faction infighting and he doesn't hesitate to speak up about things he sees as wrong. tbh i like the idea of them butting heads on some or other issue re: that actually? executive board shenanigans and jake just sort of marches into his office like 'explain yourself and also how dare you'. alas being a soldier in a crowd of 'civilians' just makes him jump straight to 'i am the one in charge' and i feel like that'd characterise their relationship, tbh - a p delicate balance of personal friendliness and professional disagreement verging on enmity occasionally. idk man DO U WANNA THREAD IT OUT

why am i so popular, pls, no pictures~~
VALKYRIE uh oh, she must've been overjoyed at sheyda's appointment, rip... I think they would have an interesting relationship as, even though he isn't a hardline justicar, he's more of a... instead of having multiple surgeries and long physio to restore limb function with no aboslute guarantee of it being the same, he would elect to amputate. In the end, they're working towards the same outcome, and Sheyda doesn't mind if he's seen as wrong for his views, so long as people are safe.
He would take her opinions and direction very seriously as such a prominent hero, even if he may not personally agree. So civil...
~~
jack that would be cool!! I like to think sheyda, whilst not the most average person, can at least provide some insight on why everyday people should be supportive of the initiative and what they're doing... but ye, feel free to have him vent at sheyda. I can't guarantee he'll be able to help, but he'll do his darned best to help the poor child... he just wants to help people and keep them out of danger/from endangering others...
sheyda meeting delta would be hilarious, mainly because I think everyone would be completely dumbfounded by his presence and unsure of what to do as... there's a villain by technicality here......
~~
RAVENNA hmmm, I feel the only issue with this is that sheyda and his guards are very astute ppl, and they'd know not to go off out of view in a super big venue!! the way his guards work is that they're in constant communication, and they always know where each other is, so taking them out would beimpossible to do one by one, because if one went down/silent, they would immediately know something's wrong... maybe if she approached him like a human bean and tried something that way it'd be 👌 b/c powers and stuff and he'd probably talk her down and just chat like 'bruh this is a nice event, why this, have a canape'
~~
voodoo ew why are you here
no seriously tho, he would absolutely be like 'pls child, pls........' or at least get her doing it under supervision in a safe environment with failsafes in place because he's a cool dadtm
sigma friends who judge each others opinions, I love it, he'd so be like 'you're not in charge of me, shush' in a loving/midly annoyed way, they're bffs already to me, sheyda needs someone he trusts to call him out on things, I love it, do it

sheyda: I swear Jack's worth more than just his current anger at everything, but Sheyda being supportive is actually a really nice turn of events? I think he'd probably listen to Sheyda considering he's a civilian (albeit one working for the Initiative), but he'll still yell anyway. Maybe spam his secretary with phone calls wanting to talk to Sheyda if he reminds him of a friendly uncle or something lmao.
(tho I think it's possible for Jack to end up endangering himself/others? but we'll see how his dev goes)
As for Delta, welp. That's basically it. A completely harmless villain vs incredibly buff security, who will win this not-fight??
Do you wanna thread? One or both or none, just lemme know. :j

I like the idea of a civil relationship with some tension from disagreement/clashing ideals. It's a nice change, tbh. Let me know if/when you want a thread and we can hammer a scenario out.

sheyda has exceptional business sense and a grand idea of efficiency. molly would love to get to know him as a lady who’s interested in eventually streamlining initiative into an organisation that brings in more money. also, he just sounds like a delight to be around. molly adores a good time or two.
in many ways, molly’s appearance might be a nightmare for sheyda. a living ghost of those execs in his old company that only cared about profit margins and a worrying brand of commercialised superhero. molly, though, she thinks heroes can boost the economy and get paid well if she has her way.
personally, she’d like him and know him since he makes such an effort to be friendly. i don’t mean to add to the ‘disagree but politely get along’ tho! that said, they definitely share one thing: justicars! for the greater good, heroes. i think they can count on each other as allies when it comes to that.
but if sheyda needs a further crash course in the ‘american lifestyle’ molly can provide a specialised one. HER FAMILY BUILT THIS CITY!!!!! well, alright, they didn’t, but i’m p sure the madisons like to donate keenly to the initiative and are very ‘welcoming’ to higher-ups in the company. he’s cordially invited to one of their family dinners. just maybe don’t come sheyda b/c they are probably gonna be filmed and i’m not sure how much he wants to do a talking head.
anyway, tell me what you think could work here and i'll throw you back a li'l more another time.

sheyda WORK BUDDIES?? Okay, maybe not buddies, as Reuben is kind of on thin ice at the moment, but they should definitely know each other and have some sort of working relationship with how similar they are. (same age, workaholics, dedicated to their job) Reuben's the Director of Medicine at the Institute, so he'll be representing the doctors and nurses that keep the heroes fighting-fit at any important board meetings. Watercooler conversations would be interesting; he's not afraid to speak his mind, even to an executive. If you're looking for particular relationships... in Reuben's history, it's mentioned that he physically confronted an Institute higher-up during a meeting that would've gotten him fired. What if Sheyda was there to witness it, or what if he was even the one to get confronted? If the latter, we can sort out details via Skype or something. there's also the possibility of sexual tension but let's be real they'd sooner marry the fax machine than another human

oh my jesus, replying to this would be an idea I'm the worst kind of person
molotov YE I think sheyda would be very warm and receptive, if a lil cautious that she's trying to take his job as well as do her heroing!! I love the thought of him being greeted to the city by her family because they know all the important people, and yeah, Shey has NO interest in being at all on tv or anything, he'd be so confused, my poor child, american culture is really weird... I do think they'd have a really interesting realtionship though!! (pls do take him on a limo tour of kingsport to indulge in weird american things)
Dr. Maddison oh my god YES, board meetings would be amazing, talking in the corridor would be great, but... considering sheyda's justicar way of thinking (namely 'loss of life is sad but we should move on') I love the idea of sheyda being the one on the receiving end of the doctor's wrath!! I'll pm you <3
